[QUOTE="Arcade-Fire"]]im alone in this because im in an internet forum many, many people agree with me in real life SolidSnake35They're probably close minded too. Those of us who spend time on forums have experienced both and get the best of both. >_>We get the both of what? I don't miss out.....
ok i think its sad because for a few reasons. its for people who don't hve enough confidence to express themselves face to face so they hide behind the anonyminty and make friends by reading words other people type.Do you use any sort of IM service? Do you text message? And way to generalize that everyone who makes friends on the internet aren't confident. Yes, some people are shy, but do you find shy people in real life sad also?
i think it would be better for people to develop social skills.
Webster defines social as " the interaction of the individual and the group, or the welfare of human beings as members of society." Last time I checked, a forum was a community of people. That's something social. Why can't they talk here?its obvious im fighting a losing battle telling the people what they are doing is sad but i heard this argument on the radio a few months ago and the people overwheleming thought people making friends on the internet is sad and there is probaley something wrong with them
I, and I'm sure almost everyone here, has had experience on internet friends. Why is it sad to be friends with someone on the internet? Also, just because someone has friends on the internet doesn't mean they have friends in real life.Arcade-Fire

[QUOTE="Omni-Slash"][QUOTE="Arcade-Fire"]umm what? thats exactly what you said. i don't get it, was that a joke or something? what is good look with that in life ment to mean. it is obviously a sad way to put me downArcade-FireNo actually it's not....I don't care if you want to make online friends or not....but your inability to be open minded in general will not help you later in life......It wasn't a put down at all......just a fact.....im very open minded. i just think its sad to make friends online
bah, 4am here up north, really need to get some sleep. Arcade-Fire, seriously, stop embarassing yourself. all youve done up to now is contradict yourself and given petty attempts to provoke. other guys/girls, glad to see Arcade-Fire is alone. nightiesbiBLioTekim alone in this because im in an internet forum many, many people agree with me in real life
what is this? do i have to keep repeating my self, it sad for the reasons ive mentioned and talking to people on forums is not social skills[QUOTE="Arcade-Fire"] ok i think its sad because for a few reasons. its for people who don't hve enough confidence to express themselves face to face so they hide behind the anonyminty and make friends by reading words other people type.

the radio is a far more reliable information bank than internet. i can understand that you will always argue that internet friends is normal bet its not and no ammount of dis-missing my arguement or your friends posting hilarious pictures of people with their head in their hands will change thatHow is the radio more reliable? Expert studies are on the internet. And if you are talking about call in radio shows...they are people...just like *gasp* what is on the internet.
Arcade-Fire
Anytime you have interaction with people you have the potential to make friends. Friends are people one enjoys talking with....they aren't the ONLY friends I'd wager the majority of people have here....but they are friends nonetheless...just in a new medium.
talking to people on forums is not social skills Arcade-FireOf course it takes social skills. We can't flout stuff like politeness just because we're online. The users at the other end of the internets are real people, you know? >_>
what is this? do i have to keep repeating my self, it sad for the reasons ive mentioned and talking to people on forums is not social skills
Arcade-Fire
And I thought social skills were a group of skills which people need to interact and communicate with others. The forum can be a medium for that, as do telephone, IM services, and real life.
