[QUOTE="Def_Jef88"][QUOTE="heartcork"]well, its not like theres much that alot of us can do about it :?[QUOTE="Def_Jef88"][QUOTE="heartcork"]No, its not wrong at all. Its the way we get the meat that is wrong and cruel. Not to mention unhealthy. The fact that people turn a blind eye to this "Out of sight, out of mind" is rather disgusting.heartcork
Yeah, youre just the ones paying for it to be done. ;)
I dont pay for any of my meat :PYeah, I forgot. Youre still a kid.
And you're as naive as one if you believe in "consumer power".Â

Hah. Conformist.Â
Most men and women eat meat, although some (mostly in rich countries) eat much more than others. Almost all of this meat is the flesh of domesticated livestock - animals born and raised on farms to be killed and sold for their meat. People who make a choice never to eat meat are vegetarians, although there are different views about what this can mean. Some vegetarians eat fish if it has been caught in the wild, many will not eat flesh of any sort. Some people are vegans, choosing not to eat any animal product, include eggs and dairy (milk) foods such as cheese, butter and yoghurt. Vegans and many vegetarians also refuse to wear leather or fur because it comes from animals.Booty_is_goodNo, its not wrong IMO

How is doing good and staying out of trouble conformist?I thought this thread was done. Hmmp.:|
Anyway, I have a legitimate hypothetical question for the non-meat eaters. For whatever reason, you don't eat meat, which is cool. Everyone is diffrent. But say for example, you're going to a restarunt with a friend who does eat meat. What do you do?
1. Let him be. To each their own
2. Politely discuss your viewpoint to your friend without making him feel guilty about eating meat. Or,
3. Â Adamantly oppose his menu selection.
I'm not trying to start an argument or anything like that. I'm just curious on your take in this situation.

no but seriously i dont thing its wrong at all. Â
No, there is nothing wrong with eating meat.
I hate it when someone says they are a vegatarian, but they still eat chicken and fish. I guess birds and fish don't count as living animals now eh? FACT: there are only 10% of the fish left in our oceans since 1950 due to overhunting and poisoning of our oceans. I would respect someone who eats only beef over someone who eats only fish (as their primary source of meat). Controlling herds of cow is easier than making fish hatcheries. Countries like Japan (and many other Eastern Asian coutries) are over hunting the fish.
I have no proof to back up my claims, but i suggest we all urge Eastern Asian countries to stop over-fishing and protect the oceans.
Back on topic, there is NOTHING wrong with eating meat.

You have to conform somewhat if you want any kind of future....morally no, not for most animals. The only time it would be morally wrong to eat/kill and animal would be if it was conscious of it's death.
Sadly in most places (especially those w/ internet connections) animals are not respected, and as one of the other posters put it out of sight out of mind. I think people shouldn't be allowed to eat meat until they understand how it's raised and slaughtered then they might be more mindful of what they are eating.

I'm quite aware of what they go through, as a matter of fact my dad spent some years of his young life on a farm and he actually watched some animals...prepped.
I still eat meat. It's for the greater good. They are primitive, barely concious animals. Not to mention some animals like Cows know no fear. Quite frankly, i think those who are vegetarians are forgetting the food chain. If we dont eat them, other animals will, in a much, much more brutal fashion. Tigers, lions, sharks, will rip apart their prey, some eating them while they are still alive.
They are primitive lifeforms, and it is my belief that as the sentient and intelligent species of this planet, we are given the inherent rights to the animals in the food chain and all the resources of this planet.

People have been eating meat since the beginning.Us animals (yes, humans are animals, there is no denying this) eat other organisms to survive. It's just the way it is. It's the circle of life. When you are eating a plant, you are eating a once living organism. It's the exact same as eating meat. If you don't want to survive, then by all means, go ahead, don't eat.....

well, i am[QUOTE="Silchas"]No. Humans are both herbivore and carnivore, so eating meat is in our genes (good excuse, eh?:P)Tolwan
the term you are looking for is Omnivore i believe, which means we eat both.
Yeah, i wasn't sure about it at the moment."For every animal you don't eat, i eat three" Maddox, the smartass :DÂ
I've always said that vegetarian people are missing the boat by not eating meat. Humans have been made to be able to eat both vegetables and meat so, no I don't think it's wrong to eat meat. I love meat myself. 8)scorpi13humans have also evolved to feel sympathy..this is what makes us different from the few carnivorous animals that would eat a human. Killing and eating an animal because you are hungry is one thing. Supporting an industry that abuses animals to no end just for money is another. IMO eating meat is not wrong, but the factory farms that most people buy from are.

I rofl-ed hard there. Maybe I will tell that to my (imaginary) vegeterian friend :P.now i got a solution to solve our problems of trying to be racist towards animals.
Eat your children.

no, in all seriousness, I think it's wrong to NOT eat meat. We are omnivores, and really, our anatomy suggests that we are much more adapted to eating meat. It's our nature to eat meat, and going against your nature is just plain stupid...
It hasn't killed me, so it must be right. :D
You ask the question as if everything in the world is 100% right or 100% wrong. The world is gray. There is right and wrong in everything. There is black and white, but nothing is ever just black nor just white. Eating meat is justifed so therefore it is okay.
Consumption of meat for sustenance and hunting for survial or sustenance is the white area. Farming animals to speceficly be slaughtered for sale is the black area, because cattle and many other animals would be extinct if we didn't farm them. It's rather sinister. But people have to eat, so meat is essential since it's a large percentage of our distributed food shares. Hunting animals to maintain population control is the gray area, because we eat what we kill by ethic. So in the end it's all gray.
