Is the United States ready to vote in another Republican? I seriously doubt that will happen. Obama has the 2012 election wrapped up. I do not think the majority of the US is ready to accept having another Republican in office simply because of Bush and what he did to the image of the party. Obama didn't really deliver on his "change" (positive change, maybe the health care bill though, I thought that was a good victory), but I think the US is more apt to giving Obama a second chance than handing the top spot back to Republicans. Discuss.

I'm sure the 14 million +/- chronically unemployed people are thrilled with Obama (not to mention those that are underemployed). As are the millions of college grads that have no career to speak of, yet have mountains of debt.

We'll see I suppose. As they say, "Is your life better now than it was 4 years ago?" Nothing will surprise me.

I hope we do vote another Republican in. They can pick up where Bush left off and finish running the country into the ground. Maybe this time they'll finally be able to privitize Social Security and put it in the stock market where it belongs.

Pretty much how I see it. Unfortunately, I see Obama as the lesser of two evils and I think others would vote the same based on that.

Weak Republican field helps Obama. It doesn't mater if the unemployment rate is X percent. As long as the candidates appear as extreme, they won't get elected. You don't start throwing things at the wall and see what sticks and the same should apply to the election.

I hope not and doubt it considering what an absolute mess the Republican party is now.

Kinda ridiculous how losing one presidential election made the partylose it's mind and just fall apart.

but obama won in 2008... oh, you were talking about the republicans? i thought you might have been talking about the party that decided to give the country to big pharma at all costs, and did.

We've done it in the past before, so a 2012 GOP victory is always possible. The only difference is that back then, the candidates who won tended to be moderate in their positions. The popular candidates are extreme while the moderate to conservative candidates are ignored.

Despite dismal unemployment and a poor economy, I still see Obama winning. I don't want him to win but it's still going to happen.

Pssh... Ron Paul is too old, but he does have some good ideals. seriously though look a this country it nothing gets done due to intentional indecisiveness while we allow all our companies to ship jobs over seas and then cry about unemployment. All why congress votes on the slogan on the back off the dollar.

I'm unemployed and I'm thrilled with President Obama. I think's it's not just a question of unemployment, but of if the public is going to put the blame solely on President Obama or if they're going to react against a Republican congress that's been content not to pass any legislation at all. I also think people realize that as disenchanted as they are with President Obama, the majority of the Republican presidential candidates would be just as much of a foreign policy disaster as Bush if you go by their claims, that they're all on the far right side of the spectrum, and that when voting for the next President they may not be just voting for a President but for a Supreme Court justice or two as well.

This whole tea party business which seems to me has made it so there is no single focus with the Republican party besides "Blargh Democrats are bad we need to block everything they try and do."

Don't be fooled either, plenty of people are very PO'd at the Republicans in office and I can ver well see them getting the boot when elections come around.

Well at least with the democrats I feel they were trying to support their president for the most part.

But anyways, yeah people are PO'd at politicians in general, but with the way the Repubs in congress have been embarassing themselves with things like the debt crisis, or beyond congress where like here in Michigan people are ready to hang Rick Snyder who is not even two years into his reign as governor.

Unless the Dem party starts making some major boo-boo's, Amidst all this hate for politicians, I just don't see the Repubs being able to continue holding strong in office especially when you have Obama and all his charisma to woo people to the dem party.

I can't think of a single Republican right now who has any real charisma to swing voters outside of people who would already be voting Republican.

paul has been saying the same thing since the 70's, he does not have a record of being a sham artist or flipflopper. as he said in a recent interview " the times have finally caught up to the predictions i have been warning about for decades" the man called the last 4 booms and busts including the current bust in college loans.

he is the only "intellectual" that i know of in the running, the man knew and spoke with great economic minds like milton and rothbard before they died in the 90's, he is a guy that actually understands the business cycle theory. none of these things can be said about obama

Nothing changes regardless of what political party the president is associated with. Executive and legislation never agree or compromise on anything, resulting in nothing getting accomplished.

Too soon to call it. It depends quite a degree upon factors which haven't been yet determined, such as who the GOP candidate is. In the case of Romney taking the nomination, pretty close to even money. The other candidates who could conceivably take the nomination would have to swing so far center that they'd look like the inverse of Romney if they expect to take the general.

It's not that people aren't upset with Obama (although he's been remarkably consistent about keeping campaign promises; we got what we voted for in 2008) but rather the Republican candidates are remarkably underwhelming.

I'm certainly not ready to do so, but that probably comes as no surprise to everyone on this site.

However I do say I'm not ready because I have been watching the republicans as a whole since Obama got elected and because I have been watching the republican debates. Neither of these things that I have been paying attention to suggests that republicans should have control of anything in my opinion.

Obama's approval rating is creeping back up, and the public opion of republican cannidates is dropping. Unless something changes he will probably get reelected.

At this moment in time I feel anyone has got to be better than Obama...too bad the Democratic party just can't oust him out and select another candidate for the 2012 elections (and by ousting him out, I mean let him finish the term but pick a different candidate as if he's already served two terms).

It won't matter. Whoever wins 2012 will be on corporate payroll and do the bidding of big business.

If the Republicans field a competent, moderate candidate (Huntsman, or even Romney), I'd say they'd be the favorites. Huntsman I think would win easily unless the economy turned a 180 in the next 12 months, and Romney I think would be a favorite.

If they pick just about anyone else, I think Obama will have a very strong chance at reelection.
