Back in my day 15 year olds were sharp, and they had morals too.

That's what many adults have been claiming thoughout human history...

"We live in a decaying age. Young people no longer respect their parents. They are rude and impatient. They frequently inhabit taverns and have no self control." - Egyptian tomb, ~2000 BC

"When I was young, we were taught to be discreet and respectful of elders, but the present youth are exceedingly disrespectful and impatient of restraint." - Hesiod, 8th century BC

"What is happening to our young people? They disrespect their elders, they disobey their parents. They ignore the law. They riot in the streets inflamed with wild notions. Their morals are decaying. What is to become of them?" Plato, 4th century BC

"The young people of today think of nothing but themselves. They have no reverence for parents or old age. They are impatient of all restraint... As for the girls, they are forward, immodest and unladylike in speech, behavior and dress." - Peter the Hermit, 1274 AD

As usual, kids will always be kids.

And how many of these quotes are proven to be directed at a 15 year old? In most if not all cultures throughout history, by 15, you were already an adult and chances are, you left the nest. Now its getting even worse and thanks to pop culture, even a lot of early 20 something's act not much different than the modern 15 year old. But hey. Old people have always had a problem with youth. And look at those quotes. Just a bunch of old f*uckers acting like their generation of kids were so much better. Many old people would call even me a disrespectful kid, rotting my mind with video games and rock music. I'm 38 with a house and family.

If I'm an idiot, tell me who's youth was more respectful? Hesiod, Peter the Hermit, or Plato? All three are references about different times in history and all three claim their generation was more respectful than the next. But I'm pretty sure that if you quoted their elders, they would still say their generation was superior. And again. None of these quotes say anything about a 15 year old because a 15 year old was not a kid in these days. This whole 18 means adult didnt even happen until the 20th century.

Actually, all of them are referring to youths in general, not to children in particular. Otherwise, references to things like "taverns", "riots" and "unladylike" wouldn't make any sense. The kind of youths that these people are describing are what we'd today call "young adults", which in those days would have been teenagers. Throughout history, teenagers have always been rebellious. There's nothing new about that.

But is it really about rebellious youth as much as it is about square old people? In the old days, a female would be disrespectful and a whore if she showed any skin below her neck line. While they may have been seen as rebellious, I highly doubt they acted anything close to what today's youth acts like which would be similar to what you see on reality shows like Jersey shore. When my grandfather was 15, he was already on his own with a family.

No one can save the world like Will.  That's only because he was trained againts Uncle Phil.  If you beat him and survive you can save all humanity no matter what the problem is..

I'd seriuosly hate to see Will's son take over the "Will Roles"  because Will is getting old.   After Earth seems to be the prelude!

Back in my day, 15 years olds were young, arrogant, idiots who didn't know how to communicate properly in class or with each other. With few exceptions. These days it's easier with smartphones and social media.

Just because you have a high opinion of yourself doesn't mean you bucked the trend.

This is what teens used to do in ancient Rome:

Horrible Histories - Elagabalus' Romo Lottery Millions

Horrible Histories: Rotten Romans: Roman Come Dine with Me

You still think teens back then were any better than today's teens?
