I already said pretty much the same thing, but I left out Eidos. If the story is 100% accurate, then I will boycott all Eidos products. I'm not kidding. (most are not that great anyway) If this entire thing is due to Eidos trying to, well, BRIBE someone for a decent score... they can go to hell. They will never see a dime from me ever again. I know I'll catch a lot of "nobody cares" replies to this... but I need to vent. Jeff was one of the most honest reviewers I have ever read, and if this is all true, he was let go for being honest. It doesn't matter. If this is true, Gamespot accepted the bribe to give the game a good score, and Jeff didn't do that.

While on topic anyone else not like the hitman movie? I thought he was stupid there was not "hits" just a bunch of fake gun blazing battles. And the actor while i have no problem with him isnt good for the role at all he has a very weak sounding voice and is pretty short and skinney. Just sayin.

People have different opinions, what the HELL is wrong with you for wanting him to stay?

I hope it isn't true but what with the "On the Spot" this week being cancelled and now this rumour spreading like wildfire its really begining to look as if it is true. The rumour for the reason of Jeff's possible sacking is also worrying in that it brings the credability of Gamespot and its review system into question. I have to say though i'll respect Jeff a helluva lot more if he stood by his decision and was fired because he refused to bend to the will of an advertising company.

It's definitely terrible that someone would be fired for doing their job. Jeff dedicated most of his life to Gamespot and gaming. He is the most productive person I know. He also records albums in his spare time.

I've been to one of his concerts and his house once, and he is an impressive person with an impressive bedroom.

He might be critical with games' flaws, but that's his job. He's a game critic.

The only thing I disagree with is his attitude and thoughts on Advent Rising. He never played it himself, so it's really the trusted second hand fault. That was a low rated but awesome game despite the bugs. (Compare to Mass Effect: high rated great game despite bugs.)

seriously though, it sucks that he was fire for doing his job. id have to say he was a little off on some of his reviews (halo 3 - 9.5 namely) its not like his review were so horribly misleading (maxim gave hour ov victory 4/5 - see HOV's wikipedia page. then again what do you expect from softcore pr0n mags?).

I agree we should all boycott eidos games if this is completly true.

GS has lost all its credibility with me if they don't clear this up. There's no reason for me to trust an editor's preview or review if they have been pressured by advertising companies or CNet. Either Jeff or GS must explain what happens.

I bet if On the Spot comes back, it'll be real awkward.

Jeff was, and is, one of my favourite reviewers for his style. He's also my favourite on The Hotspot and On The Spot, and all the live events. So there, CNET.

And how do I know I can trust the reviews here any more? With the threat of being fired over their heads for bad reviews given to highly advertised games, most of the reviewers are now going to be...I'm at a loss for words. Would "biased" fit in?

yeah if he actually got fired because jeff game them a fair review then im all for a boycott. fact of the matter is that game is gonna sell like crap anyway who the hell is gonna buy that when the could be getting stuff like COD4, Uncharted,Mass Effect. im gonna laugh when the news show edios money loss because this game sold bad.

Canceled my $2 subscription. Take that! Oh well, it's the principle. I encourage everyone to do the same. This is truly disgusting business practice and it should be discouraged by any means necessary. Which is kind of an ironic and hypocritical thing to say considering I'm saying it on Gamespots forums. Unfortunately I may have to as well as a matter of principle. I'll see how this shakes down but it doesn't look good. If anyone else wants to cancel their subscription. Just go to 'prefs" next to your profile tab , top right of page. When it comes up click the right most tab, 'account' 3rd from the bottom is cancel account, you can take it from there... I am honestly bothered by all this.
