Jets QB throws a long bomb to...a HS girl

So Mark Sanchez is now hooking up with HS chicks.

I guess it is not enough to be captain of the HS team. Now you have to be an NFL QB to get any play.
IF THIS IS TRUE, this guy has to be one big DB (and not a defensive back).

This is a non issue. Heres why. The chick was in a club @ 17 and met Mark there. Girls these days look a lot older than what they really are. And besides, 17 is LEGAL in NY so, whats the problem? Nothing he did was illegal and he probably didnt even know she was 17. Even if he knew, so what. Heck, if im in the club, im not asking for ID, thats the bouncers job.

Honestly, I suppose I couldn't really say too much here.

It says he is 24 and she is 17, so that puts about two years more difference compared to my current situation where I am 22 and interested in a 17 year old girl and in both situations it is perfectly legal.

I will say it is a bit odd that someone who is a famous football player and could likely have the pick from any number of women older than him or his age would choose a High School girl, but IDK.

It sounds like he treated her well and it was consentual, but it also seems like it was more of a "hook-up" type thing which I say in that regard I disagree with it.

At least this doesn't seem to be a rape situation...

I agree with this as well.

It does seem a bit of a dumb move on his part, especially considering this seems to have been a one-nights stand sort of thing and he had such a huge pick of women. Like, of all the options to have meaningless sex, he would go for a 17 year old? Definitely bad judgement there.

I know with me, while it seems I might end up dating a 17 year old at my age, it is only because we have developed a really awesome relationship over a long period of time and if we date we have already decided to TAKE THINGS SLOW. (And of course you know this entire situation)

If I was looking just to get my kicks off, I definitely wouldn't be going for a 17 year old....

Not sure how you pick up that I'm offended simply by my commenting on it. Yes it's legal. A thousand times yes. We know that. This isn't a question of legality, it's a question of public perception. An organization that depends on people tuning in or turing up to watch is going to be very concern about the public image of the people who work for it. I personally could not care less about what went on between these two people. However, the dads who tune in week-in-and-week-out to Jets games, who have a 16 or 17 year-old daughter, won't be so ambivilant. they're going to think about their sweet, innocent daughter and then they're going to look at this guy and see a millionaire sports stars who could have his pick of adult women preying on girls their daughter's age. That's not going to sit to well with many of them.

I agree. You can argue about whether it's ethical or not, that's not really the point. He hooked up with a girl who is still in high school. If he didn't know how old she was, that's HIS fault. He showed poor judgment and has nobody to blame but himself.

Every reason you just gave illustrates why it was such a dumb move for him to even associate with a HS kid (or any girl that much younger than him).

The line needs to be drawn somewhere and its 16. If you live in a state thats under 18 (and most are, some are even 13 or 14, which in my opinion IS too young, but its the law), why not protest?

ESPN DOES NOT usually cover stuff like this first b/c of legal concerns
-they will cover dumb stuff first (like Favre coming or going)
-but they did not cover big Ben, Kobe, or Favre's woman issues first even though they knew about it (and they have been crticized for this stance)

Her credibility does not matter.
-the public would just see a poor little HS girl (if she chose to portray herself that way)
-she has nothing to lose, he has everything...that is why it was dumb

I don't care about his social life. He is free to do what he wants.
But he has to know where he stands, what he has to lose, and be prepared to pay the price for his choices.
I would not want him to bepart of a team I support...not b/c he banged a HS chick...but b/c he was dumb enough to do it
