[QUOTE="nchan"]Here's a question. Why do more minorities love Obama, but more white middle and upper middle class dislike him? As a minority, Obama is one of the greatest thing that ever happen to this country. Public health care is the next best thing. UnrighteousFury

How's he a minority if he's Half-White?

Technically, his being bi-racial makes him part of an even smaller minority.:P

That, and he looks black, which is really all that matters.

BUt still, you can't claim Racism because he's half white.

You probably don't realize this but most upper white class people earned their upper class living. Yes, hard work can pay off. There's nothing wrong with having money and being prejudiced against people just cause they have money is no different then being prejudiced against people just cause they're black. Our society is so reverse-racist now it's disgusting.

chesterocks7

Exactly. Why do we need to be penalized because we work hard and earn our status?

Because those minorities need someone to hate.

Big generalizations...

Honestly? Yeah maybe not true in 100% of cases, but ask anyone middle to lower class what they think of white upper class americans and you'll probably get the same answer from 98% of them.

You absolutely can. Even though he's half white, he's still way more ethnic than any president we've had thus far. I'm sure racists don't look at him and say, "Well, he's half white so I guess we can't hate him."

I certainly don't think that race is the main factor behind some people's intense dislike of him, though. Just saying that the whole "He's half white, so he's immune to racism" argument is ridiculous.

It's a Faulty argument though. You can't be white and Racist against Whites. IT doesn't make sense.

I'm not a statician but I'm pretty sure that saying the majority of the middle and lower class are white is not really true. Minorities are not so much minorities anymore.

His mixed race. Let's call him grey. Just because grey is made up of black and white that doesn't make it black or white. It's something else, and considering racist hate everything excluding themselves, white can hate grey.

Did you read the post where I said that I didn't think that people's dislike of Obama was motivated by race?

And again, his not actually being black is kind of unimportant in this discussion, because he looks black. It's not as if racists looked at his ancestry and genetic markers before decided whether or not they hated him. Racism and rationality don't really go hand in hand.

Blacks below poverty line in 2008 - 9,379 * 1000 = 9,379,000

Whites below the poverty line in 2008 - 26,990 * 1000 = 26,990,000

And really you want to count the non-hispanic? The non-hispanic is only their because government forms have choices for black(non-hispanic) and white(non-hispanic) considering their are whites and blacks that classify themselves as Hispanic.

Heil Mein Fuhrer ('-')/ Praise Allah, death to the infidels!

I'm just kidding of course =P I just thought it was silly when my aunt (a christian republican) compared him with hitler and called him a terrorist >.>
In all honesty though, I love Obama, and I truely appreciate and respect the man because even if his mission is far from done, I really do believe that he is what this country needs.

Throw this link in too

Every major economic factor except employment is improving, and employment is supposedly the last to improve.

Somehow I would think employment to be a little more important than any of the other factors.

I don't he deserves all the attention he's getting. Seriously, all he's done is make huge claims way out of the norm that, if anything, should at least be thought over more and considered a little, and he keeps hiring his old buddies from the radical days to offices of power, and he hasn't actually done much of what he said he would do (not necessarily a bad thing).

Don't worry, there's not much respect due.

I seems people just love hating Obama...I think he's doing a pretty good job considering what we're dealing with here.

EDIT: Kudos to President Obama for starting an annual Science Fair at the White House.

No way. Obama sucks. He's done nothing but push meaningless health care reform, delay on making any important decisions about the war, create useless stimulus packages that have not had any affect on our economy, steep us furthur in debt and served a whole bunch of special interest groups and corrupt politicians. And of course theresa fewmore things i could mention.

Obama does not deserve the title"Leader of the Year".

ff7cloudking

This.

"Yes, he's our leader of the year. Disagree? Here's why everyone from Nancy Pelosi to Lil Wayne thinks you're wrong"

Just kind of strange how they expect everyone to disagree so much they immediately address the reader disagreeing.

I have trouble crediting him leader of the year when he can't even make a decision on Afghanstan. Indecisiviness is a sign poor leadership alone

It's really not hatred against Obama, its just disagreement. Hatred is what Bush experienced and is still experiencing, and true hatred is all what you see against Sarah Palin. All the hatred is disgusting, but the hatred that Democrats have against Republicans and conservatives bring it to a whole new level. Democrats are quickly becoming the party of hate

That Obamameter website was pretty interesting. He may be getting showered with awards, but people are just excited that we have a smart, young President. I think he's doing a fine job so far.

I know I find it quite ironic when Democrats accuse Republicans of being the party that just "disagrees with what the other side is saying".

Being smart and young do nothing to make you a more qualified or effective president.

I would say that a smart and young president is generally going to have more success than a dumb and old one.
