Legend of Chun-Li. Anyone going to see this....garbage?

First, every director has to begin somewhere. His small body of crappy work is not only normal, it's expected.

First, that would make sense if the guy wasn't sitting under the learning tree as a cinematographer for the last 30 years, and he's seemed to have thrown his lot in with Uwe Boll in making bad action/videogame flicks, so it's very hard to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Second, it sounds like you haven't been following the backstories or the timelines the past 15 years. Otherwise, you wouldn't have made such a statement.

Anyone else find it ironic that the character in the game that is the most beauty conscious is being played by the ugliest guy on the set? They should have gotten Jordi Molla. He's a much better fit and the right ethnicity.

Well, the features I described doesn't really apply to the a full white girl like that Cate you compared her to, and obviously Native Americans, Hispanics,.. aren't white people. You can keep saying she doesn't look Asian at all but that's just your opinion. Some people think she doesn't look white at all. Some people can see both her sides. To me, she is Chun-li. She also played as a Chinese girl in Edgemont and even a Muslim/Sikh or something in Partition. I know she's not full Chinese, who cares, it's just a movie. You're the one overacting and acting like as if she's a white girl like Jessica Simpson.KYLEseXY

Many other people on this self same thread and across the internet have said the same thing...not just me. Her Caucasian heritage is stronger in her face than her Mongoloid heritage, hence me saying she looks white....and she looks closer to a white Cate Blanchett than she does a Chinese Zhang Ziyi. And there are white and biracial people that get themselves a good tan and have played outside their racial or biracial ethnicity (Jessica Alba immediately comes to mind), so it wouldn't surprise me if she has done it as well. But like I said before, she is missing those Mongoloid features that make Chun-Li the young, single Chinese girl she's been painted as the past 15 years. You can always hope that Capcom decides to make it canon and decide Chun-Li's mother was white. But as it stands now, I consider her Chun-Li as much as I considered the guy in the wheelchair in "Doom" as Pinky.

BTW - calling someone "blind" and "delusional" is overreacting at the least and ad hominem insult at the worst.

I think they do resemble the characters. The only exception is Bison, and besides, if the actor did resemble him then it would look absolutely terrible.

They should fix what needs to be fixed and make it work.

What needs to be fixed? What do you base "what needs to be fixed" on?

And if you can't feel the level of cheese aura oozing from the trailer then you need a scouter.

1) The people helming the project as well as the cast involved point more to this movie being bad than good. You want to call people saying the movie is going to be bad as assuming too much based on nothing, but we can say the same thing to those that think the movie will be good except those of us that think that it will be bad have trend on our side. And while trend is not 100% reality, it's a more reliable indicator than hoping against hope.

2) If you think they resemble the characters, then give me some of that crack.

If Gen is supposed to look like he's in his 40s with a full head of black hair, then Chun-Li shouldn't even be conceived yet considering the timeline.

Balrog was in SF2, a boxer taken out of the game in his prime due to his vices and love of money and in his mid-30s. Now in the origin story, he looks like he's pushing 50 and is completely bald?

Vega.......three words: Black. Eyed. Peas.

And like I stated before, Kuerk may be half-Chinese, but she doesn't show it in the least.

3) What needs to be fixed is the fact that you can call this "generic action movie #3409484", as nothing about it says "Street Fighter" except the names they gave the characters.

OMG, this movie was so freakin' bad it's not funny. Seriously. And I'm not talking Street Fighter: The Movie or Snakes on a Plane bad. I'm talking Alone in the Dark or fear dot com bad. The movie was just so... joyless and dull.

Legend of Chun-Li could easily rank up there as one of the worst movies of all time, it's that bad.

Also: Chris Kline plays as the biggest douchebag in cinema history.

When I last checked, Chun-Li had a 0% on Rottentomatoes (maybe it's changed since, but it couldn't get much better :lol: ), so no way in hell am I seeing it.chessmaster1989

It's at 6%. Variety and The New York Times gave it a positive review. Only God knows why they enjoyed the movie.

Chun Li being one of my most favorite game characters, this movie seems like it would break my heart......then put it back together and break it again. But the temptation to watch it.....arghhh, is uncontrolable! At least Kristen didn't bother to tone and build her legs to really look like Chun Li or I might have rushed on day 1. Phew.
