Some things just aren't funny.  We're talking about someone being raped and people start taking cracks at her looks, how is that funny?  It's just mean-spirited and insensitive.  I don't mind a good joke about my momma, but if someone were to talk like that about her in real life I'd deck them, joke or not.

I think tact requires just the opposite, you make the joke to everybody but make it in a way that's actually funny.  I really don't see who wins by joking about this.  Oh, ha-hah, we're making fun of women's appearances in the context of possible rape, fvcking hilarious!  What is so funny about that?  It's just putting people down in the middle of a conversation about their own victimization.  It's kicking people while they're down, that's not amusing.

I really don't think it can be.  Even if a good comedian does it well then I still think you're just taking a bad situation, making light of it, and then on top of it insulting people who have been or possibly could be in that situation.  I don't see anything funny about that, it's just mean-spirited.  I frankly don't think most jokes about women's appearances are all that funny anyways for the same reason, but now you throw in the fact that you're doing within the context of rape and I especially don't find any humor in it.  If all you're doing with a joke is insulting people so that people who don't identify with the individuals who are at the butt of it can have a laugh at their expense then the joke simply isn't that funny.

No it's not.  Good humor isn't insulting, good humor isn't about putting people down.  Yes, good humor can sometimes offend, but the point is to make people laugh, not to gang up on them like some schoolyard bully.  When you're taking a situation like rape and you're insulting people's appearance's within the context of rape that's not funny.  Besides spreading a lot of false assumptions about the nature of rape, you're also just being spiteful and getting laughs out of ganging up on someone.  Good comedians don't get their laughs that way.  You can name just about any comedian who does taboo material, they're not getting laughs from being spiteful.  The one possible exception I can think of is Bill Hicks, and even then he's trying to make a social statement by going after people he disagrees with.  His comedy has a message, that conservatives and religious types are dicks.  What would the message of this type of comedy be, that ugly women are b*tches?
