I'm not trying to start any heated debates or make this an in depth religious thread, I just want to know how many people out there believe in it or not.

No I believe you get resurrected by a Druid or go to the graveyard and you can either run to get your corpse or revive at the Spirit Healer and lose 25% durability on your clothes.

I believe in life after death, but through reincarnation. Soul leaves body it lived in and finds another body to live in.

Yeah I believe there's life after death.

Life would be pointless if you're just bumbling along 90 years old and get hit by a car and then you cease to think, cease to see, cease to remember, and your mental slate is just wiped clean.

I don't believe in life after death, you are after all dead. Besides that there is no evidence to support an afterlife. But it's not like this matters anyway, whether or not there is life after death is irrelevant to my life on Earth so I really don't care that much about the topic.

To be quite honest with myself, I would LOVE to believe that the afterlife is everything that the pagans said it would be (no particular religion). I really would love to believe in multiple gods and all that romantic idealogy but it's too bad that society has such a huge grasp on me.

So I don't believe in religion or an afterlife, maybe in the future I will, but right now, no.

yeah people value life so highly that they deny that we can ever die... everyone who believes in the afterlife is in denial... its pretty obvious that we do not live on... Don't waste your life hoping for something better to come, cause it won't... this is the ultimate reality... LIVE NOW...

I can see your point, but I think the prospect of life after death gives a sense of hope to people who are barely hanging on. I'm sure there's many people who have made tons of mistakes and would love the chance to start over.

Like I said in the previous thread concerning the concept of life after death: I don't have any beliefs, as I don't know for sure what happens. My guess is that I'm just going to rot in the ground, and that's it.

Oh yeah sure... its a great way to give false hope... but people are wasting their lives away praying and obeying for their eternal gifts in heaven... WHEN THERE IS NOTHING... but heaven and hell are great tools for controlling ones actions... but I beleive morals were determined by the process of naturals selection and evolution and are set by what is the best for the furthering of mankind if you get what i'm saying...

It's kind of ironic how you're asserting that religions have given people false hope for something that you deem impossible to exist, but you yourself don't have the slightest idea as to what lies beyond your own life. None of us do. You're basically doing the same thing that you accuse others of when you say with an audacious amount of certainty that there is nothing beyond this life. I'd like to think that there isn't anything beyond this life, but like I said, I don't know what's ahead, and neither do you. Don't act like you would when you simply cannot.

No, I don't believe in life after death. It's really depressing to think about just simply dying and nothing more, though... but I can't help but question how life after death makes any sense. I'm not religious and reincarnation is just stupid, so...

Your right i'm just saying what seems right and natural to me... but i don't really consider it a belief... it just always seemed so obvious to me that there is nothing beyond this life we live... I just think that religous people are wasting their lives away, serving Gods that don't exist... I just look at what I see to be true in nature...

How a person "lives on" through time by what they did is not what the topic is refering to... the actaul person does not live on in this theory, only what they did and the impact they made..

But perhaps the afterlife isn't literally that? What if it's a legacy that continues by the impact a person made? You see there's no way to tell which theory or belief is correct because there isn't a possible way for us to tell.

That's a very interesting theory... I never looked at it like that.

How a person "lives on" through time by what they did is not what the topic is refering to... the actaul person does not live on in this theory, only what they did and the impact they made..

But perhaps the afterlife isn't literally that? What if it's a legacy that continues by the impact a person made? You see there's no way to tell which theory or belief is correct because there isn't a possible way for us to tell.

yeah but how can the person creating the legacy actaully experience the process and impact they make? Are they watching it from above or actaully experiencing it first hand in a earth-type setting?

I have no idea. I'm only a living human after all. ;)

yeah I wasn't looking for a factaul answer or anything... just how you thought a legacy could actaully be experienced as life after what we know as life...

Agh. It's summer, I shouldn't be doing this much thinking. :P

That's pretty insensitive, it's just a theory. You don't have to accept it, just like I don't have to accept the ideas of heaven, hell, reincarnation, etc that involve the continuation of a person's personality in some form.

Edit: Plus I don't think either of us said it was something you experienced yourself, so that argument is moot.

My argument was with Maniac not you... I already know that you acknowledged that if was not actaully experienced... Maniac was trying to argue that it was... I belive your theory to be correct but it is not relevant to the meaning of "after life" as it pertains to this topic.

The topic isn't specific in how it defines an afterlife, so my theory is valid.

No, I don't. Once you're dead, you're dead.

I have the universal human hope that there is an afterlife, but a lot of times I believe all there is to do after dying is rot. And who said life has to have a point to it?
