Lil Wayne is one of the most overpraised human beings in recent history.

If only Lil Wayne did some massive backing of Obama like P Diddy did with Vote or Die. That should get him to be more popular in news and get the blacks who normally don't vote to actually do something for their country.RyuHayabusaX

Did you even think before you typed that?

[QUOTE="Gun_Haze"]Wayne is releasing Dedication 3 very soon he said and after that 30 more tracks, all for FREE. If you know lil wayne, you know what Dedication mixtapes mean. Just a FYI.p2rus

Many Wayne fans were excited about Carter 3... and look how that came out. I have a big feeling Dedication 3 is gonna be another big disappointment for all you Wayne fans. And I guess it's a smart move to release his music for free, that way people don't feel so cheated if they had actually paid for it.

Lol, thats great.

"well hey, it sucked, but it was free"

I bet thats probably whats gonna happen, too.

One of Rollingstone's best album's of '07 was a free mixtape from lil wayne. Maybe you guys should think first ;)

yes two of the best hip hop rap cd's ever are liquid swords and illmatic

and rip the jacker

I think he just meant that Lil' Wayne can appeal to his particular audience who doesn't vote (Younger, black males).

Here's some other similar music...i chose it not based on the whole guitar riff but more of the subject matter so if you dont like it i mean there are other stuff out there its just a bit of the other side of hip hop

Thanks, I think I've judged Nas in the wrong way, I thought it was more like the other mainstream artists out there, but that song proved me wrong. Anyway, I'll quit asking for more I'm getting off topic (well I am already) but yeah, thanks for the music I think I've learned a tad bit more of the rap genre in general.

not really i'm sure white suburban kids have no idea waht a bird or a onion is in rap slang. just becasue they actually buy the music doesn't mean it is meant for them.

Wayne even says his music is for the hood on the song "feel me" of tha carter 2

damn, I miss old school rap from like dr dre, public enemy, wu tang, tribe called quest, and ice cube. hearing stuff like lil wayne is why I've almost completely turned against the genre (only songs of recent years though). he's gonna keep selling but I personally see nothing special from him. just reiterating the same crap rap has for the past 10 years instead of doing something like nas where your actually trying to say something

uhh stereotyping ?

How is that sterotyping? Thats his opinion. He's aloud to voice it.

I suppose he's listened to the whole genre in order to make that judgment.

Otherwise his "opinion" is ineffable.

Wayne is not my favorite rapper and nor do I think he's the best but I think you are mistaken on you statements about these lyrics.

"My criteria compared to your career just isnt fair"
Makes since, he's comparing the way you get money to the way he gets money.

"I'm a venereal disease like a menstrual bleed
Through the pencil and leak on the sheet of the tablet
In my mind 'cause I don't write [bleep] 'cause I ain't got time
"
He is making a metaphor of how he just comes up with stuff and free****. Callin his mind his tablet

"And the all mighty power of that ch, ch, ch, ch chopper
Sister, brother, son, daughter, father [bleep] a coppa
Got the Maserati dancin' on the bridge [bleep] poppin'
"

Chopper is slang for an assault rifle, so here he's talking bout the power gained from the gun.
The next line he just picks pronouns of family names to match the word you have bleeped  to say the whole family hates cops
Maserati is considered an exotic car, kinda like p poppin is an exotic type of dance. Whichin lanes and shifting gears.

"You can't man 'em then you mop 'em,
You can't stand 'em then you drop 'em,
"

Now when you mob the floor with somebody it's usually do to humiliating them, here I'm not sure if thats what he means.
Drop em, I say he just means knock them out, but he could mean shoot them. In the line after this one he says pop em which could mean shoot them or hit them as well so... idk

Sicilian [bleep] with long hair
With coke in the derriere

Woman from sicily back in the day when mobs where big, were said to be some pretty hardcore and loyal females. So I'm assuming hes referring to them. Coke in the derriere is drugs they hide in the butt for their man or whoever.

On some [bleep] bull [bleep] call him Denise Rodman
Call me what you want [bleep]
, call me on my sidekick
Never answer when it's private, damn I hate a shy [bleep]
Don't you hate a shy [bleep]?
Yeah I ate a shy [bleep]
She ain't shy no more, she changed her name to my [bleep]
hahahaha, yeah, [bleep] that's my [bleep]
So when she ask for the money, when you through don't be surprised [bleep]

Lot of people think Denise Rodman is a lil on the funny side so hes using him to insult other rappers who keep saying they hard. Then hes saying he don't care what people gotta say about him. Rest of that just talking about how the girl was shy till she got with him and now she do what he wants her to. Last line is her turnin tricks on sombody.

And I'm OK but my watch sick, yeah my drop sick, yeah my glock sick and my knot thick

I'm sure you know sick is slang for nice or impressive. He saying hes not literally sick but his watch is nice, and his car is nice, and his glock is, and his wad of money.

My name ain't BIC, but I keep that flame man
Who that one that do that boy?
You all knew that
True that swallow
And I be the [bleep] now you got loose bowels
I don't owe you like two vowels

BIC is a brand of lighters, so again a metaphor.
The middle part I'm lil lost on that one.
loose bowels and the word you got bleeped another metaphor
Then he doesn't "owe you" "O" and "U" 2 vowels

and the Bible told us every girl was sour (Uhh where does The Bible say that?)
Read Genesis.  This is adam and eve. "don't play in the garden and don't smell her flower" Talking about how adam got caught up and put his trust in a woman and she led to his downfall.

They don't see me, but they hear me
They don't feel me, but they fear me.
I'm illie

Not sure bout this last part but what I got is they don't see him on the radio but they hear his music, they might not like his music but they gotta respect what he has done.
Then illie is ill.

Before we're all old and grey, ANDRE 3000 will be recognized as perhaps THE best hip-hop artist of this generation.

As for Weezy...he's really hit and miss, IMO.

He was cool on 'A Millie'.  Not cool on 'Swagga Like Us'.  Cool on 'The Cliche' and 'Cannon".  Not cool on several others.  and when he's bad, it's really a song-killer.

How you managed to fail at listing OutKast is...baffling.

you're dead to me.

but + rep for having  The Cool Kids on there.  But no Little Brother either?

I just can't support such a travesty.  Hip-hop favorites list without Little Brother and OutKast is not a list at all.

I hate Weezy too.  Mainly I hate the direction rap has gone where rappers think they're better than everyone else because they have money and cars.  They can only rap about their posessions and all they're doing is bragging over a beat, they're mostly conceited a-holes in my opinion.  One of the only rappers I like is Immortal Technique because he raps about ideas and seems to be an intellectual and doesn't just brag about material posessions all the time.

He's amazing, his lyrics are sketchy at times and the topic title is a pretty bold statement D:

Yes indeed. I caught on to this months ago. Lil Wayne is overrated as hell. His lyrics don't make sense, his rhymes are pointless and his songs shallow and yet Tha Carter III still managed to go 2x platinum while great albums like Nas's Untitled, Lupe Fiasco's The Cool and other truly great albums barely reach a half million. I've been telling this to everyone I know but of course, that's not enough. My cousin is still fixated on this guy like he's God's gift to music despite all of my attempts to get him to branch out.

I guess everyone's entitled to their own opinions but that doesn't mean I have to fall in step behind them. I figure I shouldn't expect much from the new face of the industry where even mainstream garbage of the lowest caliber like Soulja Boy's CD can sell a million copies.

"He's a beast, he's a dog, he's a mother******* problem. OK, you're a goon but what's a goon to a goblin?"

My favorite line in the song. I don't like to think of being overpraised. He is just very popular at the moment, you could say that about anyone who has made it big as him in the past.
