Yep[QUOTE="TwoFace-BS"][QUOTE="rzepak"]
Thats the guy that got to sing live?
Zaibach
He's from the area
Hes still sh*t thoughyou cant just say that you have to be a team player!
i think the states have a nice striker from the womans team dont they? wouldnt mind seeing hope solo properly either cos so far im not overly sold
i am however sold on the idea that the womans football team is happily strolling round birmingham shopping centres not being recognised
Of all the British bands, Arctic Monkeys...
Baranga
best band in the country, by quite a distance too
no ones come close to them since they released whatever you think i am IMO
the torch just made some bookies very rich...
macca ended things awfully, really needs to retire, just cant do it anymore
Does Danny Boyle have the title of Sir? He deserves it if he doesn't already have it.Take a bow Sir Danny Boyle, that was impressive. I cant wait for some air to surface missile action. The Queen should jump out of Helicopters more often...Dat torch!!! :D
Zaibach
more like a Pagan Ritual... compare to those mighty barcelona and beijing (ehem...) ... however... Atlanta opening ceremony is by far the worst.... full of tap-dancersThe torch is genius.
Baranga

That opening ceremony was incredible, but I was a tiny bit dissapointed by Paul McCartney at the end, I was hoping for Elton John, etc. I think we British people are very pessimistic, because I don't know anyone who thought the ceremony would be as good as it was. Whoever thought of the final idea at the end of lighting the Olympic cauldron in that way is a genius.[QUOTE="Zaibach"]

Be great if the two morons doing the American commentary on NBC would shut the f*ck up. Like trying to watch a play with some ass talking into your ear "they're walking across stage now". SaintLeonidas
Seriously.
It was directed by Dany Boyle (the director of one of the best films ever)What's with all the dudes in the black hats?
Is it just me or does the opening ceremony set up look a lot like Barad-dur and its environs? I think Sauron must've designed the opening ceremonies.
whipassmt
The dude in black hats were Victorians, the ceremony was all about British history and culture.
Lovely ceremony. Truly genius. I wonder what the Brits think - are they proud of their nation or do they feel this sucked?_Judas_
Loved it, kinda personal and a tour de force of all things that make Britain Great. :D
The Industrial construction of the rings was my fave bit

Very good. Despite the typical British pessimism I usually hold, I had high expectations since Danny Boyle is one my favourite directors and how much money was spent on it.
It did manage to capture what makes Britain great (best music, television and entertainment in the world)
Severe lack of Doctor Who and Monty Python! SaintLeonidas
It made the tardis noise. I'm not sure what else they could have done with it.
I think ever since the Bejin opening my standards have been raised too high and this just totally sucks in comparison

The whole going through time should have been following the Doctor traveling through the history of the country!I enjoyed this more than the Beijing ceremony.I think ever since the Bejin opening my standards have been raised too high and this just totally sucks in comparison

Beijing's ceremony was just one big Chest beating excercise (they were trying to prove a point)
Spectacular? Yes Epic? Definately but really soulless.
If you are not familiar with Britain's contribution to the world in terms of entertainment, literature. commerce, Sport, Music and Art, then yeah this would be very boring for you
You are probably right. Maybe I should be more familier with all that stuff and then re evaluate myself on liking this ceramony but as it stands now for me I prefer Bejing
Beijing's opening is sh!tting on London right now. Beijing did so well so this is to be expected...but damn londoneboyishere
My thoughts exactly

I preferred London's. I can understand how some people would preferred beijing's but to say it sh@t over it is a lie.

I did'nt mean it like that my bad if I offended. I just liked Beijing's style alot more, I liked london's whole industrial thing tho, that shi t was pretty good.
Why would I be offended? I wasn't involved in it's production at all.I did'nt mean it like that my bad if I offended. I just liked Beijing's style alot more, I liked london's whole industrial thing tho, that shi t was pretty good.
