I did'nt mean it like that my bad if I offended. I just liked Beijing's style alot more, I liked london's whole industrial thing tho, that shi t was pretty good.

eboyishere

Why would I be offended? I wasn't involved in it's production at all.

Didn't know if your from England tho lmao.

I am but that still doesn't explain how what you said could be interpreted as offensive.

[QUOTE="toast_burner"]

[QUOTE="eboyishere"]Beijing's opening is sh!tting on London right now. Beijing did so well so this is to be expected...but damn londoneboyishere

I preferred London's. I can understand how some people would preferred beiJing's but to say it sh@t over it is a lie.

I did'nt mean it like that my bad if I offended. I just liked Beijing's style alot more, I liked london's whole industrial thing tho, that shi t was pretty good.

I think you'd have to have some knowledge of British Hostory and culture, but like I said to another poster earlier.

Beijing = flash

London= substance

I think ever since the Bejin opening my standards have been raised too high and this just totally sucks in comparison

Zaibach

Beijing's ceremony was just one big Chest beating excercise (they were trying to prove a point)

Spectacular? Yes Epic? Definately but really soulless.

If you are not familiar with Britain's contribution to the world in terms of entertainment, literature. commerce, Sport, Music and Art, then yeah this would be very boring for you

The only reason I would consider the London ceremony better than the Beijing ceremony. You get to see all the great things in Britain which represents a great country whereas the people in China aren't so lucky (in terms of livelihood, not economy...). They had money though, which made the ceremony more exquisite.

I like the lighting cauldron ceremony, thought that was very well done.

I was wondering why they didn't have some fireworks going duing the performance portion, Beijing's ceremony pretty much had ongoing fireworks all along, but then they probably thought fireworks would disrupt the meaning of the performance, they made up for that at the end, so it's all good:)

London is a phenominal City, its the literal heart beat of the nation, its a sprawling metropolis of history and culture and incredible melting pot of amazing people.

Sure it can be over-bearing, harsh and uncaring and sometimes it feels like a monster but once you leave it, you miss it. Very strange place.

London > Beijing.

You actually learnt something from London 2012.
Beijing was flashy and cool and military.

That was an interesting ceremony. Beijing was more orderly and dazzling while London was more fun and hilarious.

Tape delay, NBC didn't show it live because they wanted to show it in primetime

Figured as much. I would have been at work while it was live anyway. Though I hope they show most of the events live. Watching sports pre-recorded is not the same. .

It wasn't as flashy as China's, but I feel I got more out of it. It went through Englands history and you could see what they had to struggle with, and over come. I like the olympics, it brings the world together. Of course I'm still rooting for America to win, but I wouldn't mind if England beat us. Also looking forward to seeing Israel.

But whenever I see America come out I get a little teary eyed. You see people of so many different ethnicities and backgroungs coming together, no other nation has it like we do. I think that's something to be proud of.

The Opening started out well, but went downhill after the giant Voldemort. The Rings coming together was probably the best part, with James Bond in second.

Seriously, what was with the kids jumping on beds?

Lovely ceremony. Truly genius. I wonder what the Brits think - are they proud of their nation or do they feel this sucked?_Judas_

Its was pretty good,questioned how foreign cultures were meant to understand some of it though.

The Queen jumping out the helicopter nearly killed me though:lol:

I never actually watched the beijing opening so I might do that, I can see it being all flashy with lots of style but I doubt it would make me laugh nearly as much as london's did also boris johnson seemed absent throughout the whole thing, I never saw him once which is unusual as he's london's mayor and he was at the beijing closing

The ceremony was good but too much was spent on the modern digital era and music! When it came to novels and literature they missed too much, why no Dickens? Roald Dahl? Tolkein? Shakespeare? All we got was Voldemort. Why no knights in shining armor? Why no science? Where was Newton? Faraday? Maxwell? Rutherford?

There was too much flashy dancing and not enough of the great history and contribution of the UK. However, Mr. Bean single handedly won it!
