And he's going for his 23rd Master's Degree.
This man = my hero.

I noticed that too. Science is too hardcore :P.All that and not one in science? I don't see the point; it seems like an absolute waste of time.

Why? I would do the exact same thing (also with none in science) if it was financially feasible for me to do so I love learning and going to class...I even plan what me next few degrees will be Better hobby/life pursuit than video games, no?All that and not one in science? Science isn't the only subject out there. :|
Science is the most hardcore one. If you're getting 22 MAs or whatever, I would have expected at least one bio or even a public health one.[QUOTE="Renegade_Fury"]Why? Good for you, I wouldn't. I want a degree so I can make money one day, not to spend the rest of my life at a school. It reminds me of a friend of my cousin. He keeps getting accepted into Stanfard, Harvard, Yale, etc. and into their big bio/med research programs no less, but he's still over 40 and lives with his mother. All that and not one in science? [QUOTE="Theokhoth"]Science isn't the only subject out there. :|scorch-62No, but it would add a bit more variety to his repertoire. For someone seeking knowledge, it wouldn't be right to avoid a whole subject all together. Some people are not into science...myself included...I hav emy next 7 planned out (none are science)

Cool, but I still consider what that guy did as a waste of time. Renegade_FuryThe guy was a retired professor. Its better that than him sitting around in a nursing home waiting for death.
im gonna get flamed but whats the point :? You already proved your smarter than the average Joe but c'mon, live.Tjeremiah1988Oh, and having a bunch of degrees doesn't make you smarter. For all we know, he could be magna cum failure.
[QUOTE="Renegade_Fury"] Cool, but I still consider what that guy did as a waste of time. VandalvideoThe guy was a retired professor. "Excuse me ma'dam, I am super handsome and sexy."
"No you're not"
"You would be wrong, I have a master's degree in handsomeness."
I'm jealous of this man, I'm working my tail off for my first master.

Only b/c I have to...if I could do what he has done then I would...but, alas, life in the United States is not set up to promote recreational education
[QUOTE="Tjeremiah1988"] My grandma is in her late 70s and can run and play like the best of em, a retired doctor by the way. But back to this man. What is the point in storing all of this and being a retired professor not helping anyone anymore with the things he knows? At that age, or at least retired, you should be relaxing.VandalvideoHow do you know that he isn't sharing his knowledge? And how do you know that this isn't cathartic for him? Exactly... Or some old people like to golf, bowl, ...whatever He likes school. What's the problem
[QUOTE="Renegade_Fury"]Cool, but I still consider what that guy did as a waste of time. rawsavonwhy would doing something that you enjoy be a waste of time -no matter what it is (as long as you are not hurting anyone) B/C I do. Go out and do something productive with one of those degrees is what I think a normal person would do. Again, it's my opinion, and maybe you are in awe of this man's achievements, but I'm not.

VandalvideoHe may have 2 good years of golf in him, then its shipment off to the retirement home. But again, what would you have the man spending his time doing? I think education is a worthy pursuit.Well maybe now, but pursuing degree after degree for 20-40 years (I'm assuming since the article doesn't go into detail) does seem pointless to me.

I'm surprised they let him keep piling on the degrees. most phd programs have limited spaces available, so they try to find people who are going to use their degree to do something important in the field. if you're applying to a graduate program, try telling them in the application letter that you're only applying because you like to learn. See how far that gets you.

You get a degree so you can work in that field or one similar. Accumulating stacks of them and never using them seems... well you know what I'm going to type.

Renegade_Furyhmmm...now I am curious as to why you consider some hobbies a waste if time and not others -if you considered them all to be, then I could at least understand your reasoning (though I may not agree) -but I fail to see the logic behind your way of thinking...enlighten please I take it from your sig and previous conversations that you watch football as a hobby...and I assume that you do not consider watching it a waste of time...if this provides him enjoyment, why is this hobby a waste...hmmm...perplexing, to say the least
