Which you like better? I prefer manga. I think the good ones have awesome storylines and artstyles. DC and Marvel just seems pure cliche stuff to me and the good comics I read (Batman) have some hideous art. What you think?

Marvel and to a lesser extent DC, not even close to a contest.xaos
Whats your favourite marvel comic/franchise? To be honest I don't think any Marvel heroes compare to the epicness that is Batman :D Though the rest of the DC stuff kinda sucks and are full of cliche/broken characters....like Superman. I HATE Superman.

Varies; recently, the space opera that was running through Annihilation, Annihilation:Conquest, War of Kings, Realm of Kings and the Thanos Imperative have been among my favorites. The revival of Heroes for Hire has been very good and, to my great surprise, so is the current incarnation of X-ForceI've always been a huge fan of Marvel comics so pretty much them by a landslide with a bit of DC here and there and quite a few independents. I like manga quite a bit as well although most of the stuff brought over is fairly mainstream stuff that's directed towards a very young audience and it's pretty rare that some of the more adult works of involving deeper subject matters such as stuff by Yoshihiro Tatsumi makes it over here much less receiving much recognition.
1. DC (only for Batman and Green Lantern)
2. Marvel
3. I would rather not read manga at all, I find it extremely annoying.
The real standouts among Western comics are my favorite comics of all time (Watchmen, Superman: Red Son, Batman: Year One, etc.) but I'd say I enjoy the average manga more than I enjoy an average Western comic.
Manga, because on average American comics do not have all that much intellectual nor emotion impact. I've never read a comic that matches the depth of a manga, such as Berserk, and I read a very large amount of comics. Oh yeah, DC > Marvel, because Grant Morrison > Marvel.
i much perfer manga
i was really into DC, Marvel, and Image back when i was younger
i kinda respect japanese artists more cause some of them do just about the same amount of work american
artists do in a week...
but that's just my opinion.....i still love my american comics:P
Mainstream Marvel/DC comics suck. Don't want to read about 50 superheroes fighting random villains for some stupid reason. I just prefer the off stories like All Star Superman or Batman Year One. Much better than trying to get into current storylines with years of backstory. Also normal non superhero comics like Walking Dead are pretty cool
As for manga, if you discount shounen manga, then it's pretty good. The slice of life manga are generally done much better than western comics.
Picking one or the other doesn't make sense since they both got good stories to tell.

I never read Berserk yet, but I heard many good things. I definately should read it after exams.
I'd probably have to go with manga. I usually findmanga stories and characterseasier to get caught up in. Although any graphic novel with clearly defined starting and ending points and good writing can draw me in.

I agree with this. The one-shots, especially in the DC line, are quite good, since they don't have to conform to the overall continuity of the Marvel/DC multiverse.

I don't read the individual chapters but man I love the story lines that involve the whole universes... Like when Darkseid or apocalypse start their shenanigans... Civil war was epic...Please Log In to post.
