regarding what areyoumad said: the sun is a cube? that is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. I've truly never heard anything more retarded except when that kid told me his parents know when he uses a swear word because they have ears everywhere.

Then why is the swastika  the imitation of the sun?.Ask a hindu, buddhist he would tell you the sun sign is the cube swastika.

And i am not posting for you to believe me,i am warning you that heed my call or you will pay the price later.

the two symbols represent the two forms of the creator god Brahma: facing right it represents the evolution of the universe

(Pravritti), facing left it represents the involution of the universe (Nivritti). It is also seen as pointing in all four directions (North,

East, South and West) and thus signifies stability and groundedness. Its use as a sun symbol can first be seen in its

representation of the god Surya. The swastika is considered extremely holy and auspicious by all Hindus, and is regularly used

to decorate all sorts of items to do with Hindu culture

I thought you meant in scientific terms. Didn't know what you meant.

I'm still of the belief that GW is a fiction. At one point the world was covered in ice; and it all melted as the climate heated up. What caused that? Me using a car?

You clearly do not know physics. Icebergs that were in the ocean DO NOT do anything to the sea level. The melting ice and pieces of glaciers that fall into the ocean are the ones that do. Those pices of ice that fall off of glaciers are above sea level and are on land. If you want a physics lecture about how that works, I'll be glad to.

I didn't say anything about the sea level, I just said that the ice isn't melting any faster or any slower than it does every year, there's a cycle that happens at both the north and south pole. during spring the ice starts to melt, and that's where the media gets there footage of ice melting, then come autumn it all starts to freeze again restoring the ice. Repeat for the next year and the next year and so on and so on and so on and so on

And you are entirely entitled to your own opinion. but what if you are wrong? i can consider that i could be wrong, but what's the harm in saving energy? You save money, you feel better about yourself, so it's a positive thing whether im right or wrong.

If you want to save energy for saving money then that's fine, if you want to save energy to save the earth then turning off your lights won't do a thing. And don't say" well if everyone does it" because it really wouldn't compare to the amount of energy used by factories or even places like las vegas where those huge lights are on constantly everywhere. I se adverts on tv here where these old people are all feeling guilty about having their lights turned on over night. They don't need that because they're not going to change anything.

Dr Roy Spencer, formerly a senior scientist for climate studies at NASA's marshal space flight centre: "The analogy I use is like my car's not running very well, so I'm going to ignore the engine which is the sun and I'm going to ignore the transmission which is the water vapour and I'm going to look at one nut on the right rear wheel which is the human produced CO2. The science is that bad."

The last word goes to former environmentalist Paul Driessen who observes that, "The theory of man-made global warming is now so firmly entrenched, the voices of opposition so effectively silenced, it seems invincible, untroubled by any contrary evidence, no matter how strong. The global warming alarm is now beyond reason."

He then adds:

"There will still be people who believe that this is the end of the world particularly when you have, for example, the chief scientist of the UK telling people that by the end of the century the only habitable place on the earth will be the Antarctic. And humanity may survive thanks to some breeding couples who moved to the Antarctic. I mean this is hilarious. It would be hilarious actually if it weren't so sad.We imagine we live in an age of reason and the global warming alarm is dressed up as science but it's not science, it's propaganda.

The Great Global Warming Swindle

And yes, I did get those last quotes from a site because I wanted them to be exactly what was said.

Antarctica would be a problem because there's actually land down there; however, the Arctic Ice Cap is defined as sea ice floating on the arctic ocean.  It is not being supported by any land, meaning that it is already displacing its mass in the ocean and melting should have absolutely no effect on the ocean levels.

If it wasn't free floating sea ice, then submarines would never be able to reach the north pole, yet it's very common for nuclear missile subs to go to the north pole where they can hide in the anomolies in the earth's magnetic field and be safe from surface ships, and aircraft.

You need an experiment to test it, put icecubes in a large cup or bowl, fill the vessel with water.  Mark the water level, come back when the ice has melted and the water level has not changed, yes the ice cubes were sticking out of the water in parts; but, by definition ice is less dense than liquid water, which is why it floats, when it melts it changes to liquid therefore it takes up less space.

Everyone has a future, and the truth is, that global warming is somewhat a natural thing, but our generation are accellerating the rate in which it happens. If everyone could smarten up and do simple things to reduce energy then maybe our children will be able to enjoy things that we do now, such as being able to go to the beach for longer then 15 before running the risk of severe burns and cancer.

Simple things include: turning off a light when you leave the room, turning your computer off at night, wakling instead of driving everywhere, recycle, go play sports instead of having your tv on 24/7.

it's simple, even more simple then complaining about global warming and screaming that we are all going to die :P

sinarilias

well, unfortunately, the only people who are willing to try to stop global warming are people living in the US. But, China, and just about all other heavily industrializing nations are not gonna stop their growing economies because of some theory

Although I want to complain that America is the number one country that emits CO2 due to automobiles, I have to give that one to you about China. You're right. The US cares more about global warming than China.

You know what's funny, when you look at per-capita CO2 emmissions, the US and China are lower than Belgium. ;)

There is some ice on land in Greenland, but the majority is on Antarctica. That is why people are concered more about the ice on Antarctica and not the north pole. A LOT OF PEOPLE misconcept that the melting north pole ice is the reason for rising sea levels, but in fact it's not.

The thing that most people don't seem to understand is that we will never have a world with no ice, unless the Ozone layer completly disapears, then we wouldn't be here.

As all the ice melts in the artic and that cold water starts to flow into the Oceans it will begin to cool the Oceans.  The Oceans are what distribute heat around the world.  So heating our planet will actually cool it in the long run.  And if the Oceans get cold enough will be in another Ice age, not a world with no ice!

Global Warming is about the heat from the sun getting trapped by gases like CO2, H20 and Methane. In other words, more and more heat is getting trapped on Earth.

Well said.  Water is the only element on this planet that expands as it freezes,  It's pretty much the reason why there can be life on this planet.  If ice sank then it would freeze the world from the bottom up.

Dosen't matter though, thats the atmostphere, not the oceans, the cold water going into the Oceans will slow the Ocean currents down,  they'll stop moving heat at the ground level and freeze. At one time this world was just a ball of molten rock, it cooled off.

Edit: Colder oceans would suck the heat right out of the atmostphere very quicky

The last time I checked my earth science book, I remember atmosphere conditions affect ocean conditions as well.

Anyways, you may be right. I wasn't trying to disprove your statement.

The Atmosphere can affect the Ocean, but on a smaller scale.  Where I live in Canada it has become noticably warmer over the last 10 years, having said that.  It really hasen't had any affect on the Ocean, A large change in the Ocean temp would drastically affect the atmostphere however.  A simple experiment can prove that.

Fill a jar half full with water and let it get to room temp. Have a thermometer in the water and one in the air in the jar.  Take the 2 temps,  then add some cold water.  wait a bit and check the Temps again.  Both will be cooler.

You can do it the other way to and try to add hot air to the jar. kinda tough though, but you'd find that adding hot air would have little to no effect on the water in the jar.

as much as scientists are divided on the whole global warming situation i dont believe either way....yea we could be melting the ice caps and put everything under water or we couldn't...at this point does it matter, even it was an undeniable fact there probably isn't much we can do to stop it byt 2050.

He has a record of the lowest approval rating in the history of the United States. 34%.Wow.

Im not a HUGE bush fan, but I would have voted for him instead of other candidates like Al Gore and John kerry.

But, you cant really trust those approval polls. How is it that George bush got re elected when his approval rate was 30 percent? his approval rate had to have been at least more than 50%

I don't go by popularity polls, go by the Misery Index, only failed 3 times in history and 2 of those times were during war.  Right now it is 7.18% which means Bush would get probably get reelected.

Global warming isn't going to drown us. Most ice is already floating and not supported by land, so melting it isn't going make the water higher. Global warming doesn't matter. It will just melt the ice, cool the oceans, and then freeze the world. Then, over the course of a couple of thousand years, greenhouse gasses will build up again, warm the earth, melt the ice, some new species will evolve, and the same thing will happen.

Uh i think you divided the years by 3 because global warming isn't going to start to show for real until at least 100 years.

So we will all be dead by then so no need to worry about global warming...god i hope we don't reincarnate lol

So if it's going to happen and we can't stop it, why should we even care about it? Shouldn't we just live instead of worrying...

sadly yes you cannot do anything about it,even if all humans were removed from th planet right now Gw would still happen.I am sorry but the 21st centuary is the last century of this planet.

Aliens are heating up th antartica to remove thier deep space craft so that they can escape as no one has restarted time(2008 is the restart date but this time it wont be restarted) and the sun is getting hotter and hotter and soon would extinguish.this is begin done by the light.

All human population won't die out anyway. Maybe half of it or a bit more, but destroying humanity is impossible unless destryoing the whole earth. We are, afterall, the most fittest species in the world.
