Saw the news story here: http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/world/mass-walkout-at-un-as-irans-mahmoud-ahmadinejad-raises-911-mystery/story-e6frf7lf-1226144324964

Full Extract from the article:

"HOURS after criticising America so fiercely that US diplomats stormed out of the UN General Assembly in protest, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said time had not run out for the two countries to repair their bad relationship.

In an interview with the Associated Press, Ahmadinejad claimed that explosive material and not planes brought down the World Trade Center, rejected the West's view of his country's nuclear ambitions and castigated US policies from Libya to Pakistan.

But he also complained that President Barack Obama never made good on a pledge to try to open a dialogue with Iran, and said he still hopes for a face-to-face meeting.

"I don't believe that this is a chance that has been completely lost," Ahmadinejad said.

The White House declined to comment on Ahmadinejad's remarks.

Ahmadinejad provoked a walkout by diplomats from more than 30 countries at the UN General Assembly when he attacked the US and Europe as being greedy, arrogant and too ready to use military force.

He repeated comments casting doubt on the origins of the Holocaust and the September 11, 2001 attacks and criticised the United States for killing Osama bin Laden rather than bringing him to trial.

European countries use the Holocaust as an excuse to pay "ransom to the Zionists", he said. The "diabolical" aims of the West are the cause of wars and the financial crisis, Ahmadinejad stormed.

In a repeat of walkouts at the United Nations and other international events in recent years, a US diplomat monitoring the speech in the UN General Assembly left halfway through the 20-minute discourse.

The 27 European Union nations then followed in a coordinated protest move.

"Mr Ahmadinejad had a chance to address his own people's aspirations for freedom and dignity, but instead he again turned to abhorrent anti-Semitic slurs and despicable conspiracy theories," said US mission spokesman Mark Kornblau.

The German delegation said in a statement that it was protesting over the "crude, anti-American, anti-Israeli and anti-West tirade by the Iranian president".

And a French spokesman called Ahmadinejad's attacks "unacceptable".

The Iranian president caused a UN walkout last year when he alleged the US government could have been behind the September 11 attacks. He has also used speeches in the past to call for the destruction of Israel and cast doubt on the existence of the Holocaust.

Israel and Canada were among countries which had no diplomats in the assembly even for the start of Ahmadinejad's latest speech.

Ahmadinejad told the UN summit that the United States and its allies use the Western media to "threaten anyone who questions the Holocaust and the September 11 event with sanctions and military action".

Some European countries "still use the Holocaust, after six decades, as the excuse to pay fine(s) or ransom to the Zionists." The United States considered Zionism as "sacred" while they "allow sacrileges and insult" against other religions.

The Iranian leader said he had been threatened by the US government after he last year alleged American government involvement in the attacks and called for an independent investigation.

Moving to the US operation to kill bin Laden, Ahmadinejad said the al-Qaeda leader should have been brought to trial "in order to identify the elements behind the safe space provided for the invading aircraft to attack the twin World Trade Center towers".

In a general blast at the West, Ahmadinejad said: "Hypocrisy and deceit are allowed in order to secure their interests and imperialistic goal."

"Drug trafficking and killing of innocent human beings are also allowed in pursuit of such diabolic goals," he added.

"They weaken countries through military intervention and destroy their infrastructures, in order to plunder their resources by making them all the more dependent."

Western diplomats said they had expected a tough speech by Ahmadinejad and had prepared walkout plans in advance.

White House spokesman Jay Carney dismissed Ahmadinejad's remarks. "Our views on Iran's behaviour and its vile mistreatment of its own citizens are well known. I find it rich that the Iranian president has such criticisms."

All of what he said is true and a fact. World leaders also shouldn't walk out during his speech, that's just rude and disrespectful.

he is right about the US and Europe being to quick to use military force...

we should not be involved in the middle east as far as i'm concerned... but since we are set on going broke to police the world, i'm sure we will probably invade Iran before too long and go another 14 trillion in the hole... that is until our currency is worthless and we can't afford to pay our military.

here's a question.

what would make the UN not a joke?

If it worked exclusively for your national interests?

or

If you gave it an army capable of actually waging war?

Personally i'd say army, but then everybody would be scared as to who'se national interest it served.

It does work for the US's interests mainly.. The UN has basically become the right hand of the security council where nations like the US use it when its a convience and ignores it completely when its a inconvience..

I rather have US, France and UK with power than Iran and North Korea. Doesn't sound so bad. The problem is Iran and North Korea is even allowed in the UN

did anybody expect any different.

there are 2 possiblities with him

1) he is mad

2) he just pretends to be.

frankly, I wouldnt be surprised if its the 2nd option , sometimes its better to look crazy than smart, its much simpler for him to say something controversial (wheter he believes it or not) and have people focus on him rather than other things like the nuclear programme or the lack of democracy in his country.

though its also true that Ahmadinejad is not the real authority in Iran

How is the iranian president a troll? All he requested was an independent investigation into 9/11, and questioned why would they kill bin laden. Wouldn't it have been impertinent information to know how he formualted the plan to syncronize the plan hijackings and what other possible connections he might have had? Why would you walk out on him, that's exactly what he is looking for. The guy is a lunatic, you know what he is going to say when he's up there so why even bother to show up in the first place? On a similar note I work in NYC and it never ceases to amaze me how many people show up at his hotel to protest him. It's just a huge waste of time, I wonder if these people who do this think thy will miraculously cause him to change everything he has ever believed in because they stand out there with their protest signs and shout at him. He doesn't care about what anyone thinks....I bet he gets off on the attention. Jus ignore him like the pos he is

[QUOTE="Victorious_Fize"][QUOTE="LJS9502_basic"]I don't believe Israel is calling for an independent investigation into 911..Iran is.;)LJS9502_basic
So, you'll honestly give pardon to their nuclear program if they cut the crap on 9/11?

No...but if he wants independent investigations I say we should give it to him.

Thats the attitude of someone hiding something. Lets be honest, walking out of a meeting is something I expect at a womans PTA meeting or some crap, not an international world meeting that can potentially prevent or cause wars. These people are in no way examples of leaders and clearly are hiding something if they are so adament about addressing an issue which so called "seems to be preposterous". Enjoy you denial and delussions

They walked out on a glorified conspiracy theorist. It was a waste of time and our tax dollars, and the farce wasn't suffered by our sane leaders. Good for them.
