No, but many people do make racist jokes, and I don't think they're any worse than any other racist comment that can be made except that they can be funny.

testfactor888

oh yeah, mel gibson saying he hopes his wife gets raped by a pack of n-words sounds like every other funny racial joke i've heard. c'mon....

She must have really pissed him off. I am sure she is so upset about the racist rant that was put on her when she walks away with a ton of money in alimony. Anyways what a person says in their own home is no one elses business and the wife was a jerk for taking it outside of the home. She recorded him to deface him in public and make a buck and I am sure she made alot selling that tape.

So your suggesting when every one gets angry they start screaming racial slurs?

I don't really care about how he is as a person, for all I care he could be feeding on bloodpacks in his basement while watching Salò with a happy grin, I do like him as an actor though.

I don't think he suggested anything of the kind. Actually, I don't think he made any kind of suggestion at all. . .

And I certainly agree that what one says in their home is "their" business. I could give a rats ass what he says.

I like Mel Gibson. So what if he says offensive things when he is angry? Saying offensive things actually conveys the emotion of anger quite well.

About what he said to the mother of his child, so what? If she really does dress that way, then there is nothing wrong with calling it like it is. Heck, I mock women that dress provocatively. I had a friend whose girlfriend dressed like that, and when they came over, I straight-up asked her if she was a stripper. Yeah, she got mad, but my friend knew better than to make a confrontation out of it in my own house. When they broke up, we all had a good laugh as he admitted that she did dress like a stripper.

If a woman doesn't want to be accused of dressing provocatively, then she shouldn't dress provactively. If she wants to dress that way, then she should be prepared to hear criticism from people like me.

What're you talking about?

Remember in Braveheart how his family was murdered and he sought revenge?

Or Road Warrior, where his family was murdered and he sought revenge.

Or who could forget Lethal Weapon, where his family was murdered and he sought revenge.

I don't like how many of the responses here are "what he says to his woman behind closed doors is their business". I don't think it's ever ok to talk to anyone the way he did in those recordings.

The thing is, you don't really know his state of mind at that point. He could've been in a very high stress environment, and when people are stressed out, they can say things they don't really mean to say. It just comes out. It's not fair to judge someone out of context like that because we don't know anything about the situation except what the tabloids tell us.

I don't hate him, but he deserves what he gets for hating on his ex like that. My favorite part was when he said he wouldn't stand for how she dresses now. As if he has a choice in the matter. I can see why see left him. What a ass he is towards women. I am glad his agent dropped him. Hate is to strong a word for how I feel towards him. Do I like him? Hell no. But I don't hate him.

How could anyone feel sorry for him? Here's just part of his last quote (censored of course, for the sake of the mods here) ""You're an embarrassment to me, you look like a (f-word) pig in heat, and if you get raped by a pack of (n-word), it will be your fault."paradigm68
WOW I never heard the "N" word in there. I would have never pegged him as a racist, but he made it pretty clear if he actually used that word.

Honestly I am indifferent toward him. I think he has been in a few good films, and he seems to be a decent director. That is all I care about. I won't stop watching his films because of something he said. I think it is silly to stop watching someone's work because of their personal life. What does their personal life have to do with their work? Many very talented people were also probably not very nice, but who cares? If their work is still good that is what is important. Heck Klaus Kinski was known to be a wife beater but I still think he was a brilliant actor, and Roman Polanski raped an underage girl but I still watch his films because he is a great director.

Umm it doesn't really matter he should learn to control his temper this isn't the first story on his anger problems. It's not ok to freak the **** out on someone just because your stressed, especially the mother of your child. Your right though we don't know the whole story, but the recordings say more than enough as to the type of person he is especially when added to his past anti semantic, racist, and homophobic rants.

Well that's why I said he's probably in a high stress environment. When people are under enough pressure, they need to blow gasket somewhere. It's not really a matter of controlling it, because the human body isn't really going to let all of that angst build up. So if he explodes every now and then, it's not unheard of. I'm impartial towards it honestly. Until I really know every detail about the situation, it's not my place to judge. I've seen the nicest people turn into screaming lunatics when the pressure is on, especially in work related environments so I know it happens to people, and I don't blame them because it's just human nature.

Whats suspicious about it? His girlfriend recorded it to show what a psycho path he is and why she needs a restraining order. I suppose the fact that it got leaked is strange but he's famous so their crap is always getting leaked. Regardless how does being hopped up on something excuse his actions?

Whats suspicious about it? His girlfriend recorded it to show what a psycho path he is and why she needs a restraining order. I suppose the fact that it got leaked is strange but he's famous so their crap is always getting leaked. Regardless how does being hopped up on something excuse his actions?

No, but people don't have any control over their actions when they're hammered and/or high. And seeing as he's an alcoholic, I wouldn't exactly be surprised if his exasperated gasping was a result of being under the influence. I'm not condoning what he did, but if he was in a state where he was completely hammered, isn't it possible that she baited him into the call so she could get a recording of his drunken ramblings? That isn't unheard of you know. Not saying that happened, but anything is possible really, and seeing as there's no way that I or anyone else would be 100% clear on the situation, I'd say just let them do whatever they want. Who cares? Mel Gibson isn't making movies anymore, except that one movie that was like a crappier version of Payback, so I don't really care what his personal life is like.

[QUOTE="XilePrincess"]the only thing that offends me is how bad he treats his girlfriend, to be honest.XilePrincess

that's the only thing huh? how about the numerous racist and anti semitic remarks he's made?

I'm kind of numb to that now, people use the N word and I don't even flinch. It's been made just another word now because it's used all the time.

Yea, same here. The sad thing is, most of the people that use that slur are black people.

Kinda feel bad for the guy. Seems a bit suspicious that this woman has all these recordings of him. I wouldn't rule out the possibility that she's been intentionally provoking him just so she can make these audio recordings of him. Some women are just evil like that.

I agree that we've all said things we've regretted impaired or not, but we are still responsible for them. Sticks and stones what? Im finishing it with may break my bones but words can hurt forever but I'm pretty sure thats not how it goes

Actually it goes but words can NEVER hurt me....

And being responsible means if the person he said them to never talks to him again then so be it. But it's between the two of them and not the entire world.

I don't like Mel Gibson regardless of his monthly angry rants. I just have never liked him as an actor or a director.
