Metal is the most hilarious music genre ever

I'm not talking about Iron Maiden or Metallica - they're alright. And the old stuff like Led Zep and Black Sabbath, that's all cool.

But I mean come on. Metal. It's just hilariously bad. You'll go on at me and say "there's different types" but my god I mean them all: thrash metal, power metal, epic metal, speed metal, glam metal, Australian War metal, death metal, black metal...you name it. Why watch an episode of Monty Python when you can listen to a fully grown man singing about when "time stood still at the Iron Hill" and "slowly in fear, the dark lord appears"? 

They have the most ridclious of names. "Megadeath"? "Slayer"? Look at their album titles...Reign in BLOOD! Show No MERCY! God Hates Us ALL! How old are thee people again?

Why can people not have different tastes in music? Why must they share yours? Just because you don't like something does not give you the right to call it "crap." Many metal artists are quite talented and do create good music. Some don't.foxhound_fox

Sure, sure, I know many people enjoy it becuase the genres obviously got a lot of fans. I was just venting my frustration about it because I hate it so much.

Hm I always thought they were alt rock.

Another question, have you REALLY listened to a few good examples of EVERY metal genre?

Metal is a very broad genre, I think you're just generalizing.

I find it's generally people with an even worse taste in music that critisice metal, but let's just give the guy a break. ;)

its liek every genre...they all have bad bands but it doenst mean the whole genre is bad.

black cat - yeah sure Soundgarden are probably grunge. I think thats a 'sub' division of alternative rock though. Man, too many music genres.

Anyway, I can certinally understand that each genre has its share of crap bands, although I have listened to a lot of metal and found it mostly not to my taste. Feel free to reccomend any songs though.

Seriously, that sounds awesome.

For years I was exclusively a METAL fan...yup i dressed in black, yup long hair. I liked (still Like) bands like Megadeth and metalica.  Then as I got older and was exposed to other types of music i started listening to other genres. I cant say metal Sucks as a whole beacuse to tell the truth alot of the bands are actualy very professional very talented musicians.  But there are alot and i mean alot of Hillarious /crapy metal bands. that just put out very loud noise.  alot of angry or psuedosatanic lyrics. But this happens in every genre. For example Boybands should be banned..Paris Hilton has a pop album..how much worse could it get, Country music.....Rap music...How much GANGSTAS and bling bling  can you take?????

There are REALLY SUCKY examples of bad music just about everywhere you look. you could say bad things about every genre.

Even the very worst of them have some diehard fans. If you dont like what you hear just change the station. or better yet pick up an instrument and try and make your own music instead of posting some lame statement on how metal sucks.

I half agree. It's pretty funny how some bands go overkill with the songs names. And I personally find some groups, like Rhapsody, laughable. I'd call them symphonic metal, but some might disagree. Well anyways, while some of thier songs do sound good, they all tell this story. One of those generic, bastardized tolkien, magical stories. The legendary warrior has to find the emerald sword so he can kill some dark lord. That's the gist of it.

While I generally enjoy the metal genre, some groups just take it way to far.

Nobody listens to metal for the lyrics :|.

And have you ever heard of Opeth? They're a death metal band, but they don't sing about killing or blood or mercy or anything you said, from their songs that I've heard.

Nightwish (Melodic/Symphonic Power Metal, I guess...?) - "Gethsemane", "Devil and the deep dark ocean", "Passion and the opera", "The Riddler", "Pharao sails to orion", "Dark chest of wonders", "Nemo", "Dead gardens", "Ghost love score".

Sonata Arctica (Melodic Power Metal) - "Abandoned, pleased, brainwashed, exploited", "Gravenimage", "Ain't your fairytale", "My Selene", "White pearl, black oceans", "San Sebastian", "Wolf and raven".

Haggard (Symphonic Metal) - "Awaking the centuries", "Al inizio e la morte", "Per aspera ad astra", "Of a might divine", "Eppur si muove".

Also check out any song from the album "Vovin" by Therion (not really sure about the genre here). Well, there you go, hope it helps. :)
