I'm not talking about Iron Maiden or Metallica - they're alright. And the old stuff like Led Zep and Black Sabbath, that's all cool.
But I mean come on. Metal. It's just hilariously bad. You'll go on at me and say "there's different types" but my god I mean them all: thrash metal, power metal, epic metal, speed metal, glam metal, Australian War metal, death metal, black metal...you name it. Why watch an episode of Monty Python when you can listen to a fully grown man singing about when "time stood still at the Iron Hill" and "slowly in fear, the dark lord appears"?Â
They have the most ridclious of names. "Megadeath"? "Slayer"? Look at their album titles...Reign in BLOOD! Show No MERCY! God Hates Us ALL! How old are thee people again?Â

I dont know what your deal is buddy, but complaining about metal isn't gonna change a damn thing, just remember not to say that metal is very hilarious music style in front of metalheads because we take our music very seriously, if you dont like metal than so be it, metal dosent need you, you will never understand it and you never will. And you should of put this childish rant in your blog because you are showing us how immature you are by complaining and **** about how metal is "Hilarious". That is all.
I'm not a huge metal fan, but I'd much rather listen to metal than rap, emo, punk, ska, pop, and most of the other crap you hear on the radio these days.SmashBrosLegend
You have ska on the radio in the US? :o
And what's so crap about it? It's lighthearted fun.
You're telling me, that Rolling Stones are not laughable?
Â
I like some metal bands. Nightwish (if you can call it metal) as well as Apocalyptica are excellent! Scorpions are still going, and still great!
Â
And besides hating rap and hip hop, I am also open to all music! I have a few DJ Tiesto Albums, a load of classical music, and some old rock like Aerosmith! I think that calling metal, as a music, bad, is ridiculous!
Â
There are great things about metal. All metal. For example, alot of the music in metal is melodic, and some of it is very pleasant to listen to. ALos of the lyrics are relatable, wise, and meaninful. And while I dislike Death and Black metal, it is a generally excepted fact, that death metal and black metal has some of the most complex, difficult, and demanding music which takes very skilled and talented musicians. Â

Metal isn't the most hilarious music genre.:|
Rap is.
I mean, come on, they actually think that is music!:lol::lol:

I dislike rap music, country and pop. For metal, I just think its down right stupid. A bunch of old men talking about how the world sucks and pain LOL.Click_ClockI believe that's emo music.
Metal musicians aren't some of the greatest lyricist ever, yes, but your average metal head isn't interested in deep meaningful lyrics in their metal (for the most part). Metal musicians are some of the most talented musicians alive though. Many metal musicians are classicly trained and have degrees from music schools (Dream Theater anyone?). To the average listener (and many metalheads) Death Metal just sounds like a wall of noise, but you will be hard pressed to find a bassist in any genre that can lay down some Cannibal Corpse bass lines Like Alex Webster.
And concerning Slayer, what were trying to do in the early eighties was to create music that was the polar opposite of Hair metal, and the rest of the LA music scene. Yes their album and song titles are juevenile (the guys were in their early 20s), but if you were playing a show back in 1983 you wanted to be as offensive as possible to seperate yourself from the guys in pink spandex with poofy blonde hair.
I dislike rap music, country and pop. For metal, I just think its down right stupid. A bunch of old men talking about how the world sucks and pain LOL.Click_ClockAlthough I don't like metal, the world does kind of suck. Or life. I mean, what other species have to deal with phobias, anxiety, depression, boredom, and countless other piles of crap? Not much probably. Although, I do agree that they could stop complaining about it, but saying otherwise is pretty much untrue, but yes, complaining about it all the time is rather annoying.
[QUOTE="foxhound_fox"]Why can people not have different tastes in music? Why must they share yours? Just because you don't like something does not give you the right to call it "crap." Many metal artists are quite talented and do create good music. Some don't.ScrunchMuppet

Sure, sure, I know many people enjoy it becuase the genres obviously got a lot of fans. I was just venting my frustration about it because I hate it so much.
You have a blog for that.
Â
I like oldschool metal..
black sababth, judas priest, skid row, megadeth, etc...
actual metal is a joke compared with them...Â

Your attempt has failed, and I shall continue listening to metal. :|Â
its funny because the two bands you mentioned are crap too. Metallica is one of the first steps towards becoming a redneck. plus they suck as metal, they're all wusses.HAHAHAHAHAHAH is that you in that pic in your sig...... wow that pic made me laugh... one of the biggest wigggers ive ever seen
darkside646
I think this board collapsed under its own stupidity...
By now every genre of music has been called out. We have had Rap not having solos, Metal just a bunch of wild men and for some reason pitching the idea that country and pop sucks which has nothing to do with this anyway.
I'll say this much: Pantera is freakin awesome and you shall not hear from me on this thread again.

You're what I call "on the bandwagon", where Iron Maiden and Metallica are all cool just because they are popular. And what exactly is so important about the lyrics you listen to?
Metal bands have awsome lyrics! Some of them, are the best lyrics I've heard in a song (besides Russian bard songs, which are winner)

What you don't understand is that metal is dead. What you're hearing today isn't metal, it's hardcore. It's emo metal. There's a difference. Metal rocks.musicXpirate
Gah, I'm tempted to quote a million people from the thread, but they won't read it anyway. So just you.
Metal nowadays is not dead, you just cannot seem to get out of your mainstream sphere (maybe). I could name you a LOT of moderm metal bands that are better than the old ones. The point is, when everything has been invented and there's no room for innovation, what do you do? You perfect it until it achieves a point of..perfection? >_>  Metal wins. Â
I don't feel like explaining, but if anyone wants to have a rational conversation, I could easily make anyone like a sort of metal, I'm sure, even my grandmothers liked some neo-classical metal I made them listen to. (Though they kind of have a heart attack with All Shall Perish)Â
another opinion to bash what is great. 80's metal is on the up swing people are remembering how good energetic and fun/hilarious it was. You have to be part of that gener to appreciate it. If not I'm sorry! There use to be a saying if your not a metal head you might as well be dead!
whos been in the mosh pit.
I would rather listen to classical than rap crap, country, grunge.
Â
Here we go, guy on the internet generalizes a subject like crazy, knows little about it, when in reality there's probably a ton of Metal bands he would love that I could name.
It's just so tired I don't feel like defending it at the moment.
You have an opinion, you expressed it on the internet, way to go. *hands you a cookie*
Ok, if you dont like metal, dont bash it!! You dont see me makeing a thread about how rap is pointless crap like "B*****s and hos" and "getting rich for have the abilit to rhyme annoyingly and make lame computer made beats because rappers have no skills with instruments".
Â
Thrash and death metal have the best feel to them in my oppinion. You can mosh to them and they have good lyrics.
"Yeah, I'm running off the rails
I've finally gone crazy
And the ground is spinning faster
Than my teeth could ever grind
I know it's a shame
When success was to blame
But I can't remember my name
In the absolute wrong
I have made this place to lay my head
A reoccurring nightmare
I never trust, I never rest"
-the black dahlia murder "im charming"
LMAO I always find these metal bashers amusing. They don't get metal (Which not everyone needs to, mind you) and it bothers them to the point where they feel the need to bash it for no reason.
TC, I doubt you will ever understand metal, so just put your tail between your legs and walk away. Nothing you say will change any metalheads mind, inbcluding me. The music isn't for you, who gives a damn! Noone cares about your opinion on the genre, and I am surprised this topic didn't get locked seeing as it was meant purely to start a flame war.
As a final note, I will admit there are some metal bands that are so corny and terrible I laugh at them. Dragonforce and Cannibal Corpse are 2 that come to mind...Â
Writing lyrics about a genre you don't like makes it bad?
You can write about love and joy and pink ponies.. you can also write about hate and gore and dead ponies. I personally hate love lyrics, just so damn cheesy, but aggressive stuff, damn I do appreciate it.
Â
Also worth to note that bands like Cannibal Corpse are jus' doing it for the fun of it, I honestly doubt they have a torture chamber in their grannys backgarden.
Â
Back to lyrics, check Behemoth out. It's this "screaming bollox" with "crappy lyrics written by a guy with a maturity equal to one of five years" if you... don't know crap. The lyrics are deep, and yes, very deep. There is no simple rambling about death, they all have a meaning.
It's a music style which highlights religions not appreciated by general society, what's the problem? We have free speech for a reason.
Â
Last note, metal is the best genre :PÂ
Metal is usually a genre that listeners grow out of when they experience different genres. LJS9502_basic
Metal was the last genre for me to experience that. I was listening to everything else before I was able to read. Your assumption fails quite hard.
Btw, whomever said to look at their sig, Dragonforce is one of the worst metal bands I've ever heard. They have the cheesiest lyrics, they play too fast for their own good. And I still have yet to hear a song by them that's faster than Judas Priest's Metal Meltdown, which is much better than fecal matter such as "Through the Fire and the Flames", which, btw, proves the OP's point.
Sure, there's crap metal, there's crap in every genre. Look at grunge - the majority of grunge is not very good, a perfect example is modern "emo" and "punk"; Nirvana did all of that stuff way before My Chemical Romance and Sum 41 came on the scene.
There's crap classical; I won't touch Baroque (crap like Mozart) with a 10-foot pole because it's a celebration of wealth of and decadence and a mockery of the have-nots.  Doesn't mean it's crap; Mozart does indeed require great skill to play - for the mostpart. Even Handel has some songs that are moderately difficult.
There's crap opera. Crap rock. Crap everywhere you go. It's not always crap because it sucks, though - it could be because it flows counter-wise to your own personal agenda and principles. If that's the case, than state that, but don't act all elitist because you think the song titles are lame like a certain asshat folk musician I know.
Now, if you're going to smack Megadeth on one hand and coddle Metallica with the other, it tells me that you've glanced at the name but not heard the music, or know anything about the band. Dave Mustaine used to be part of Metallica, and there's a likelihood that his lack of existence is the reason why that band sold out its original fans. And Mustaine's good, very good in fact. Dissing Slayer, I have no problem with. They suck. Araya is one of the worst vocalists I've ever heard and King is a very mediocre guitarist. I don't give a rat's ass about the lyrics if it sounds like ass. But Megadeth and Slayer are only two bands from a single subgenre.Â
You aren't going to make a point targeting two thrash metal bands and giving poor reasons as to why the whole world that they represent sucks.
