I'm sure we're all familiar with the saying, but do you think it's true? Can money "buy" happiness?

Personally, I feel it can. I can assure you my life would be far different, and far more enjoyable if I had money, so in that case I do feel money could buy me happiness.

What about you? Would a large some of money buy you happiness or can happiness only be obtain through other means?

Yes. I can purchase things that make me happy. And of course money does not solve all problems.

To some extent and in some ways. =) You yourself ultimately still have to feel happy about the things your purchase, if you don't, then money is of little value in regards to acquiring happiness.

Of course it can. If you take into account that the majority of our problems are money related, just having money would make a lot of people happy. Imagine not having to worry about rent, or mortgages or bills or any debt. And then being able to literally buy anything you want and being able to travel as much as you want. With money you can stop trying to build up your life and actually live your life.

I would say that it would relieve some great pressure in my life and buy me great comfort, but it wouldn't buy me happiness.

To a degree. Even rich people are unhappy though and are plagued with issues we have not experienced as well as the ones we are all prone to. Its not a cure-all, but I'm sure some aspects of it are quite nice. On the flip side, it might enable or give us the means to self destruct faster.

Well, you can purchase things that can make you happy. But without love, family, and the sense that something besides an "object" cares about you, money is meaningless.

didnt you know that many wealthy people commited suicide though money can "buy" happiness?

personally, my family isnt that rich like we have a lot of money but of course we live a normal life.

but i can assure that enjoying with my loved ones and knowing that God is with us is enough to make me happy all through out my life :)

The people who say 'money can buy you happiness' are the same ones who would think 'isolated? I'm surrounded!' The best moments of your life are spent with other people.

Anything can make You happy. It's not impossible but not as simple as just having money.
Actually money is very deceitful. There are many pitfalls.
I think You'll notice most rich people are very used to their richness.

To be fair, money can buy things besides objects. If someone had a disease that had treatment which obviously required money, money would make them happier, essentially, by buying treatment to better their life.

I'm 21, and i'm problably making the most money out of everyone in my age group. Shoot, I know a few people who went to college for four years and i'm still making more then them. My point is, i am not as happy as one would think everyone thinks i'm good, but I still feel like i'm missing some thing from my life. All the flat screens and PS3's in the world don't make me fully happy

Like Kanye West said, "Having money ain't everything but not having money is." Try being poor. I don't mean broke. I mean poor, impoverished, poverty. Poverty brings a lot of suffering. Just visit the projects or the ghettos. If your a truly happy person money will only increase your happiness. And if your a depressed person money can at least give you temporary joy.

I believe having unlimited money would be a bad thing. You would have everything at your disposal without any work; you would quickly grow bored of practically everything. Haven't you every gotten bored at the end of the summer vacation? It's like that, except at a higher scale. I would rather be rich while having a job rather than have everything thrown at me freely.

Nope. I have many hobbies with which I could forever entertain myself. The feeling that you can get in the morning that you don't HAVE to be anywhere or do anything is something more enjoyable than one can perceive. Ultimate freedom is what money can buy.

Money can buy happiness for some people, but it is not everlasting.
