Sure it does. Money buys a waverunner, and have you ever seen a sad person on a waverunner?

No, but it can buy things that can make one happy. It also may not be lasting happiness.

It can buy things that you enjoy and it's also necessary for survival/healthy lifestyle. So yes, it can indeed buy happiness, though indirectly.

I'd like lots of money. Only because its a need in this screwed up society. Unfortunately you're right about money being everything. Money is your social status, your fitness, your entertainment. Its even what keeps you alive for so long. Although, I'd prefer a different type of society where its one for all and all for one. But us humans are too primitive to understand how that would work. Oh, and money is the governments key to mind manipulation. Trust me.

Money does buy happiness. People can say love and family is what matters, but good luck finding love if you're a raggedy homeless person.

I'll quote the great philosopher, Mr Kanye West, "Having money ain't everything, but not having it is". When my pockets are fill of cash, I certainly feel a lot better then when Im broke. Some people are naturally unhappy, others are naturally happy. You may be able to temporally make them switch to the other side, but sooner or later you are what you are. Money just amplifies your happiness/unhappiness.

What's that old saying, "money isnt everything, its the only thing!" =PAllicrombie

You're thinking of "Money makes the world go around." Which is kinda true. ;)

Money really does help make people happy though.

Money can't buy happiness but it can buy whatever would make a person happy. If that money can't buy whatever would make you happy then nothingcould make you happy, because whatever would can't be bought.

Tell that to a poor person. That should tell you how much weight that phrase really holds.

It doesn't buy happiness, not in the long term. It can satisfy your cravings for a short period, but then you're back to craving something else. Any satisfaction you get from material things is fleeting. Happiness from material things is not happiness at all. Once these things are gone or the excitement of having them has faded you're still left wanting.

Maybe, maybe not. IMO, its a good start though. At least I know I'd be happy knowing I wouldn't have to worry about wondering if I will have enough to pay bills each month. I can always buy a pet to keep me company.....

People have such a twisted view of money like it's evil or guys with money just want MORE MORE MORE. It's more the things you can do with money. If i'm poor can i go to St. Tropez and the French Riviera whenever I'd like and then take my private jet down to south america? No I can't i can dream of things like travelling wherever i want but i'll never be able to because i'm too busy making a "living". Can you get the fast Lambo or Porsche you want being poor? Ya but have fun saving up for a few years and living in a trailer park. /thread. I'll have fun being rich though in a few years with all my dough while you still debate why money doesn't make people happy

The problem with happiness is that most people have no idea what the hell it is. We're brought up believing that it's some magical state of being that must somehow be aquired, and everyone has different ideas of how to achieve this. The simple truth is, the secret to being happy is, well, being happy. Purchasing things can't make you happy. Nothing can make you happy except yourself. You have to open yourself up the the idea that everything is out of your control and you might as well enjoy the ride, nothing is really important. There is no other way to really be happy.

I once burst out laughing at a guy who had an incredibly serious look on his face, and HE looked at ME like I was crazy. Can you believe it? If only he understood, we'd be two sane people laughing on a street surrounded by serious lunatics.

While I don't think money is everything, I do think it can buy happiness, even if only temporarily.

The happiest people don't have the best of everything, they make the best of everything. Happiness is a mindset and if you like expensive things then sure you mind is going to be happier when you are rich.

It does. There is no way in hell a poor person or even middle class person will ever be as happy as a rich person. But rich people who are born rich... Those are unhappy people, because they don't know what it's like to be broke.

To a certain extent yes. With money I can buy a lot of happiness such as a new motorbike and car. However, it can't buy everything such as family and love.

It's a bit either way. Happiness is relative, if you have unlimited money you wont necessarily be happy. But imo It does to some extent.

Money pays for my hobbies and school. It basically buys me hapiness and a better future for even more happiness. Africa is moneyless, not happy.

i think it can. but you need to taste the sour before you can appreciate the sweet :) money will get you - better living, better health, better social life (more chance of meeting that special someone that money can't buy), it can also show you who your true friends are when your suddenly rich (just look at the people that have won the lottery). so, i think it helps very much unless your born with it, you need to experience a bad or average life otherwise you can't appreciate the better life.

Money can certainly do wonders to reduce a lot of the stresses that we all face. That being said, I'm of the belief that if you are a miserable SOB...... suddenly having tons of money will only make you a rich miserable SOB. For the most part, 'happiness' comes from within.

Most of the stresses the majority of people face are to do with money anyway.
