It is necessary, without money you are unhappy. Fact.[QUOTE="parkurtommo"][QUOTE="LazyMushroom"]
No, money cannot buy happiness. It helps but isn't necessary.
BiancaDK
Wrong.
Without weed you are unhappy.
Weed. Man.
I'm not sure what conclusion I can take from that... :PIs that the new cool thing to say? Guess not, everyone i know considers happiness as something that should be the ultimate goal in life. So you see, the cool thing to say is quite the opposite, it's not a new cool thing though.[QUOTE="Stavrogin_"]Happiness is overrated anyway.Teenaged

I'm not sure what conclusion I can take from that... :PBasically, money buys weed which is happiness I think
[QUOTE="Wasdie"]
It doesn't directly buy happiness, but it sure as hell helps you live a much less stressful life which allows you to be happier.

I dunno. Some of the most stressed out people I've met were loaded with money.
True. My old Uni teacher quit his private sector job because he was on call 24/7 and never had time alone with his family. Couldn't take a vacation in over 7 years. Had so much money he had no idea what to do with it, because he didn't have time to spend it.It can make you happy in all areas except for love and friendship. If people know you're rich you'll have friends coming out of the woodwork and you don't know who you're real friends can be except for some of the ones you've had forever that will always be loyal. As for a dude that's rich. Don't let a woman know unless you're just trying to get laid. If you really want a chick that's there to love you and won't cheat on you had better not tell her you're rich or else she'll only marry you for the money. Then she'll probably cheat on you because you aren't her first choice but you have the money. Then she might just leave you for that other dude all while taking your cash in a divorce. One word: PRENUP.....
Theres actually been studies done on this and they say that Money tends to bring more problems andstress and can lead to early death. I thought that sounded crazy but Ive always been poor but happy also so idk
I don't know what financial rock TC has been under, but it (money) can definitely buy happiness.
But will it keep you complacent with your life, not so much.
It really does. People who argue it does not will point at all the unhappy rich people who kill themselves or have depression but those people would have been like that with or without money.
Saying it doesn't would be like saying water does not put out fire and fire does not burn things that are flamable. It makes that much sense.
Alter_Echo
I'd agree with this.

I'd agree with this.
If those rich people would have been unhappy with or without money then money did not buy them happiness now did it?
Money is irrelevant to happiness.
Most people confuse comfort with happiness and therein lies the problem.Money can buy things that aid in comfort; it cannot buy happiness.
If money buys happiness, then it follows that more money buys more happiness even if the marginal return declines the higher you go. This is so not true and so obviously not true as to be laughable.
I am a dirty filthy capitalist pig corporate executive who can afford pretty much anything. None of it matters except my wife, daughter, etc. Most of the people I know who have money, and I know a lot of them, are unhappy SOBs worried about losing their money. Or theyare busy spending it in a futile attempt to make themselves feel good (my sister has this personal addiction/problem).
Man is a social creature. Ultimately our happiness is based upon our internal view of self and our relationships with others. Everythingyou buy is merelycomfort masquerading as happiness.

Thread should probably be renamed "Can money buy you happiness?". Having money may not instantly make you happy, it may not make you happy at all. It depends on the person and what influences them. Money can buy you happiness, if you find happiness in things that can be purchased with money.
there are three things i want for complete happiness.
but load of money
be in great shape
and somebody to love and share this with :D
