Underrated by whom? Certainly not by the music pres, nor by the adoring masses that swamped to gigs which were pretty well-attended back in the day. I think they'll be justly remembered in the years to come and their influence won't go unnoticed.

Outside of their cult following, they aren't very well known. And they did have a problem selling tickets the first time around, at least in the US. They were more popular in Europe, but they still open up for other bands instead of vice versa like it should be.

If you concider a little known band outside a cult following that was mostly responsible for the sound of the the nineties overrated, I guess. Without the Pixies, the nineties just wouldn't have been the same.

Meh...

I find ita shame that virtually nobody these days knows about XTC. A lot of their songs were a few years ahead of their time. Considering the song i posted is from 1979/1980i think is a good example of that:P

No, I'm saying they're good, but recieve a whole lotta hate. I've never personally met another fan of either of these three bands. I have, however, come across a crapload of unwarranted hatred towards all three over the years.

I Hate MCR and Limp Bizkit. I dont think I have heard a creed song so I cant judge them

Nickleback had 1 or 2 good songs, but I wouldn't go as far as to say they are a good band,

I love My Chemical Romances first 2 albums. Black Parade was a bit of a let down, just because of what a dramatic change it was, but I still didn't hate it. I've seen them live (with Rise Against), and it was quite an awesome show.

Well I know they had a bit of trouble breaking through over there as many alternative bands have in the past - their popularity in the UK certainly elevated them above cult status. Hell last time I caught them was at Manchester Gmex which although they didn't fill is a pretty sizeable venue (over 10,000 capacity). Maybe they did open for other bands (Throwing Muses), but I reckon that'll only be Surfer Rosa era when they'd just bubbled onto the scene
