[QUOTE="JC346"]War of Ages. They have 5 albums out but still no one has really heard of them.Mr_Manikin52

I loves that band. :x

They are great. Saw them live over the summer and they were one of the best bands I saw at the show.

A lot of death metal stuff from Finland seems hugely overlooked by most metal fans. Demilich, Adramelech, Disgrace, Depravity, Deceiver, Mordicus, Xysma, and countless others are really underrated compared to how much love the early Swedish and Florida scenes got.

Demilich is awesome, haven't heard of the other ones though (will check them out).

[QUOTE="TGM_basic"]However, to someone who is a Nickelback fan, they would be considered underrated. You thinking they suck is an opinion, not a fact. The logic makes perfect sense.Sigh_han

No, it doesn't.

And i never passed my opinion as a fact.

An underrated band would be one that isn't in the spotlight and doesn't get the recognition for making good music. A band like MCR is in the spotlight. They are a famous band and with that fame comes "haters".

And with those "haters" comes the underrating.

You're confusing underrated for unknown.

Anathema. For their last few albums anyway. Didn't like their first few albums much at all but they're criminally overlooked. Don't know it that strictly falls 'under-rated' (I'm sure one you nice gents will tell me though :) )

Sigh_han

You're confusing having haters with being underrated. Justin Bieber would be underrated then. Since he has a lot of haters.

To some people, he might be.

We have to remember, though, that similar to my example about "good or bad" being an opinion, so, too, is overrated and underrated. It's all just an opinion.

But, for an example of what I'm saying above, lets take the video game Beyond Good and Evil. Now here's a game that isn't all that well known outside of hardcore gamer circles, and yet it's pretty much praised all across the board. This is not an example of an underrated game, since pretty much everyone who does know about it apparently loves it. It's an example of an unknown game.

Now lets take another last gen game that I personally felt was underrated, P.N.03. This game was a pretty decent game overall, though most critics rated it pretty low. However, I, and a few others I've noticed, enjoyed the game, despite the critics, or "haters". This is an example of a game that's underrated.

Of course, like I said, it's all subjective. As was posted above, some people think the Beatles are underrated, and yet others think they're overrated. Neither is right, yet neither is necessarily wrong, either.

There's much better underrated metalcore out there. War of Ages is a Soilwork rip off.

I think the term underrated has been problematic in this thread - under appreciated may have been better. Bands whose critical acclaim did not translate into commercial success - would have been simpler probably...

This. A lot of my friends seem to hate on them for some reason. Maybe I need new friends lol.
