They dont have to be bad guys, preferably they should be heroes who have many flaws. My choice is Richard Chance from To live and die in L.A, he is one of the biggest jerk heroes I have seen in a movie. His flaws make him a better character though.

For some reason I just can't stand seeing Michael Douglas' face. In any movie.
BTW, thank you for making this diamond post in the rough of political and religious threads.
Wickus Van Der Merwe is one of the most unlikable characters I've seen recently.
Before that, probably Daniel Plainview. He wasn't COMPLETELY a monster, but HOLY ****. That dude is probably the biggest most festering cesspool of unlikeability that I've seen in years.
Then before that, we have Carter J. Burke. THE villain in Aliens. Good lord, it is so easy to hate that guy, and so hard to not want him to die the most horrible death imaginable. When he finally bit it, I was happy. But the way he went out wasn't nearly worth what he deserved.

Wickus was a bit unlikable, but I actually thought he was one of the better characters I have seen in a movie recently. For a feature film debut I thought Sharlto copley did a good job.

He has an odd face, but he has been in some fantastic films. I really liked him in Falling Down, and King of California.

And y'all just got threaded cause he truly is the most hateable character ever. Anyone who's seen the scene with this picture knows that.

He was quite terrifying. That scene is one of the most brutal and chilling I have ever seen. I also thought that Mary in Precious was quite unlikable, Mo'nique did a good job even though I think the film is a bit overrated.

I couldn't have been smiling more when Daniel Plainview gave him the smack about.

I thought Paul Dano played him very well. I think he is a fantastic actor, he always impresses me with his roles.

Well he must be, because I sure as hell didn't want to punch his face in Little Miss Sunshine and The Girl Next Door.[QUOTE="MrGeezer"]Before that, probably Daniel Plainview. True, but surely you understand that Plainview who was the one constantly giving Eli Sunday the shaft. Plainview hated Eli Sunday from the start, and made it his mission to **** him over.
It's one thing to see Daniel Plainview slap the **** out of Eli for asking for money (again, if I remember, this partly shows that Daniel Plainview is not a TOTAL monster. His "son" had just gotten seriously injured, then Eli comes along asking for money. I'd be pissed off too.) The thing is, Daniel Plainview never INTENDED to pay off that money. Which Eli knew. Which also makes it understandable when Eli comes asking for his money at possibly the wrong time.
But the question is...the end of the movie ABSOLUTELY sways the "hatability" scale over to Daniel Plainview's direction. The way he threw away his "son". The way he lied to Eli Sunday in order to get Eli to reject his god, and then bashing Eli's skull in immediately afterwards.
Yeah dude, Eli Sunday is a pretty unlikeable character too. But Daniel Plainview makes Eli Sunday look GOOD.
This.
that crazy christian lady in the mist.shimmyshnardd
And this.
Also a shout-out for Percy from The Green Mile.Brutal_Elitegs
Also, Stifler from the oh so horrible American Pie series comes to mind.
MrGeezerYeah, I agree with everything you said, Plainview is definitely a more unlikeable charcter, I wasn't trying to downplay that.
Dude, I'd be pissed if my father shafted me too. That guy from Gladiator.
The one who wanted to do his sister.
EDIT: Great actor though.

Dude, I'd be pissed if my father shafter me too. Yeah, so you hug him to death? That guy was such an idiot, really whiney too.Rorschach in Watchmen, I couldnt stand his whining and was actually glad he got blown up
Lief_Ericson
Whining? Being badass enough to tell all of the inmates at a prison "I'm not locked in with you, you're locked in with me" seems like whining to you? :?

While it is fair to say that Rorshach is "badass", the problem is that being "badass" has little relevance to one's morality.
Yeah, Rorschach was "badass". He's also morally detestable.

Yeah, I can understand "morally detestable", but was definitely not "whiney". :P
[QUOTE="alphamale1989"] Yeah, so you hug him to death? That guy was such an idiot, really whiney too.Brutal_ElitegsHe's certainly an unlikeable character, but I guess can sympathise with him. Also:
I thought Catherine Keener did a better job overall, she seemed more realistic. She had the eerie look of seeming like a caring mother, but when she flipped out it was scary. I have always liked Catherine Keener, she should do more drama. I think An American crime was the better film overall, it wasnt as brutal as the girl next door but it was much better in terms of story. Also Ellen Page was fantastic, she has really matured as an actress. Shame some people only know her for juno.
Michael Corleone.
He's basically the reason I didn't care much for Godfather. Mainly because he comes off as very fake. I didn't dislike him because he was a "bad guy" but because he was a poor character.

Hey, I just remembered... Misery, anyone? :D

I thought she was delightful, such a charmer:P
Oh yes, positioning that log to ensure the bones would break in a neat, straight fashion, such a wonderful woman. :P

It is one of the few times a movie improves on a book, though the book had the better ending from what I remember.
Yeah when he shoots the kiddies. I love that movie.
