I have discussed marriage with a couple girls but in the long run it never panned out. With getting older I have come to realize that, for me, marriage and relationships are a pointless endeavor simply because I don't have the capability to care about someone long enough to want to try to be with them for the rest of my life. So to answer your last question the way I would like to be proposed to is with not being proposed to :P
