So she graduated high school this past May and started summer classes right away, and she's been really lazy ever since she stopped doing dance. She from about April to now has gone from 110lbs to about 145 pushing 150. And she's only about 5'3-5'4. I'm not any less attracted to her but I'm afraid of her continuing this road and getting really big and unhealthy. Am I right to be worried?

That's a lot of weight really quick, I'd be majorly worried and hiding the Twinkies.

Well. The 5 year and 10 year projections are not good.

Lol! :D

Just remember the rule God gave us all before we came down from baby heaven: Thou shalt be able to lift thine girlfriend whilst thine girlfriend shalt not be able to lift you.

Its a good guideline to go by.

Start getting her clothes that are too small and install a large mirror in her room.

There is no easy way of telling a girl she is getting fat. Get on good terms with her mom, and have her say something to her. Or maybe start going to the gym yourself for a few weeks (so it "seems" like something YOU want to do on YOUR own). Then a few weeks later ask her if she wants to come with you??? Tell her how much "fun" it would be. NEVER mention anything about losing weight.

False.

Get her clothes that are too big, then she will think you think she is fat and become aware of it. "OMG he bought me a size XL!? He must really think I look fat!"

If you get her clothes that are too small, she will think "Wow, he must think I look thin!"

It's one of those weird backwards-logic things that don't really make sense to men, but when you think about it, it sort of makes sense. Women generally buy clothes that are a bit more form fitting than guys, they are used to things not fitting and having to try other clothes on. You can't really control that. What you can do is imply things by going in the opposite direction by a lot.

It's obvious that very few people in this thread either have or ever had a good, healthy, intimate relationship with anyone.

In any case, advice like "hiding the Twinkies" (I know, that wasn't a serious advice) aren't solutions...she's not your child or your pet. If you are concerned about her health talk to her, be open, honest and receptive to what she tells you and try to understand why she's eating so much; maybe she's bored or trying to take the focus away from what's worrying her. In most cases, overeating is the consequence, not the cause...don't start the conversation with "I've been thinking that you should lose weight", that's just going to make her close up...if she's been sad, start with that; if she used to be really active and now she can't seem to have the energy to get off the couch, start with that.

One last advice for you; NEVER come to GS asking for serious advice...that's like going to a frat house asking for tips on how to stop drinking. People just aren't mature enough for life advice here...they are either kids or trolls and the few good users left in this place just get buried under all the idiocy.

Listen to my advise. Tell her you are joining Gym and 'd really love if she joins with you as two of you can spend more time together on Gym. If she really cares for you and loves you madly, will join Gym to spend more time with you together. This way you didn't even tell your g.f to lose weight by hurting her feelings, as a bonus you and your girl both get a better body XD

Many b.f/g.f, couples workout in Gyms together BTW

A good rule of thumb for judging how fat a woman will get is to look at her mom. I used to hear old people tell me that all the time when I was young and I realized it seems to very generally accurate.

If I was you,I'd tell her softly that she put on a little weight. She might get upset at first, but if she has any soft feelings for you she'd listen to your opinion. If the weight does not bother you all that much, love her the way she is or turns out.Good luck to the both of you.

Buy her a push bike and go cycling together.

I started riding trails in the summer and already knocked about 3 inches off my waistline.

I came in here out of morbid curiosity expecting the OP to be saying something like "OMG, my GF gained 5 pounds, should I dump her?" and everyone else being horrified at how he was acting. Instead, the TC seems to have a legitimate problem and everyone else is making a joke out of it. I don't know if my pleasant surprise at the TC outweighs my unpleasant disappointment at everyone else.

Anyway, TC, 20-30 lbs in a short period of time is unhealthy and a big deal. She might have an eating disorder, some sort of mood disorder keeping her from exercising, or both. Talk to her about it. Be gentle, be sure to use phrases like "I'm concerned about you," and remember you're not there to solve her problem. She really needs to do that herself, you just have to very gently nudge her towards the people who can help (who are probably not you, unless you're a professional psychologist). Be understanding if she's not receptive at first, say you're sorry if she's not ready to talk about it, and be prepared to be very patient with her.

Tell her honestly that you're concerned, as rapid weight gain like this is never healthy.

If you two are truly in love that's going to be long lasting, she'll care enough to consider your opinion.

She probably wouldn't be cool with it, if you suddenly stopped being confident, funny, or whatever else is attractive to her. It's a fact of life, men are more attracted to physical characteristics, while women put more weight into non physical attributes.

@tij33: Maybe do some sort of sports together - home/gym workout or play a ball game of some sort, heck even Wii sports or Just Dance with Wii for hour + will make her loose weight, but TBH 70% of loosing weight is eating right - eat less carbs and more meat/vegies and you'll be good to go.

How to be sneaky 101: tell her that YOU want to get in shape and eat healthy, and ask her if she will do it with you because you don't want to do it alone. say it will be a good thing to do as a couple. use a lot of "us". example: "I feel both of 'us' are getting lazy and out of shape, i want 'us' to be in the best shape we can be to lead healthier lives.." etc.

Because no girlfriend ever wants to b told she's getting fat and u will def hurt her by telling her so. tough love isn't always the best.

A 40lb weight gain on a 110 lb person is enormous. You may suggest she see a physician, as that is highly unusual.

Be frank and tell what you feel.As girls are sensitive to comments about physical appearance, try not to hurt her feelings.Choose your words wisely.Tell her you want her to be healthy.Motivate her to work out more.Any time you’re doing something active, invite her to go with you.You workout yourself for your well-being and share tips with her. This will encourage her.Go for a walk together.Tell her how beautiful she is.Tell her your love won't fade away if she is fat,but you want her to be healthy and free of diseases.Don't force, wait until she wants to lose it herself.

This is true. Also, the issue is almost NEVER the overeating. It's normally a coping mechanism for women. I would have casual conversations to try and determine the true cause. Also I wouldn't talk about her weight IN ANY WAY. That is a touchy issue for women. But you could maybe start preparing slightly healthier meals while on the low.

All you gotta do is: tell her to lose weight otherwise you'll dump her.

She'll get upset with you and she'll dump you instead, and then you're single again.

Problem solved.

I'll let you in on a little secret. Skinny girls with bony asses are boring and overrated. Thick, busty fat booty hoes are where it's at. They feel better and they're way more fun. Just thought I'd share my .02
