http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100121/ap_en_ot/us_tv_leno_o_brien damn, such a stupid move. Do they really think moving Leno back to his normal time slot is going to earn them to much? Should have just told Leno he had to move or leave. I don't see any real way that moving Leno back to his normal time will earn them $45 million dollars. His current show is irrelevant idk what makes them think by moving him back he'll suddenly become popular again

Yeah, 32million for him and another 12-13million to pay and distribute amongst his staff. It's going to be more than that since Conan spent 1.5million of NBC's money to acquire a million dollar car and rights to a Rollingstone song for a sketch bit on Wednesday night.

And I believe he has to wait until September until he's allowed to jump networks for a new show.

I hope Conan finds a better broadcaster that appreciates his talent.

He should go to Comedy Central and do a show along side John Stewart and Stephen Colbert.

Those three guys would take over the world.

Be funny isn't worth 45 million dollars.. IT doesn't feed people or provide shelter. You're only argument is that it brings the population some form of happiness to be motivated to do minimal labor so those type of things do get done. Besides.. nobody on late night television talk shows are funny.

You said he shouldn't get $45 million, while someone who 'works harder' than him gets a lot less. Is there a dollar figure on how much you think Conan is worth? How about someone who works hard? How much are they worth? Personally, I believe people are worth whatever they can get for their services. If he can wrangle $45 million, then good for him. If some guy who lays brick for a living can only make $25,000, it's his own fault for not having a more lucrative talent.

but its not your money. If you don't support the decision boycott NBC or something; but the Conan conflict is worth a lot to them and they decided this was best for them.

It really doesn't work that way. It's not that persons fault at all. To transcended social status in our society is not so transparent as many people believe it is. SURE, some people can.. but the reality is they represent less than 1% of the population. Most people remain in the same social status all their lives.. so where you're born is very important. It has nothing to do with fault, motivation, effort, or lack of ability.

Promoted by a culture that endorses excessive individualism and gives little value to the community and the effects of social pressures on others. It's easy to blame the individual.

how would you fix it? stopping networks from broadcasting nationwide? That wouldn't be cool. :(

EDIT: also, if we lived in a world where everyone was fed, housed, free, and happy would you still be against this? Would you care about the money?

Great. But that's not what I was talking about. It's easy to think you did everything on your own and that you some how made a way for yourself. BUT it's not reality. Circumstances aren't the same for everybody. MANY Americans believe that in America there is this ability to move easily between social classes and with some hard work and effort anybody can do it. It's simply not true. It's a lie. Some people do it on a small scale.. some on a large.. BUT most of the population doesn't have those opportunities.. and it's not because they didn't work hard, or didn't make an effort.
