I've had so many over the past weeks, but the one I've liked most is Broadway. They're a lot like Saosin for those who are interested.

What about you guys?

I've already listened to them before, but I just recently started listening to TV on the Radio more often, and the last band I discovered was Modest Mouse.

Trail Of Tears (absolutely fantastic), Leaves' Eyes, Sirenia, UnSun, Within Temptation, La Oreja de Van Gogh (relatively recent, a few months back, best pop band ever).

Actually, you should check out UnSun, battlefront23, I think you might like them. :D

The Other Side

Bring Me To Heaven

Edit: changed the link for bring me to heaven, the first one's quality was awful. I don't think this one is much better, though... :P

It's a tough question. It's not a matter of discovering bands but getting into them. Recently I've been buying Porcupine Tree albums and I've listened to lots of the Libertines lately.

You starting to like them now?:o:D

 I missed the Marduk concert (with 9 other BM bands) Thursday night because my friend backed out (he had been planning to go for the past few months) and I figured it'd be too awkward and a lot less fun to go alone.

The newest band I've really started to enjoy was Ufomammut a few weeks ago...

I like everything a lot besides his vocals. Kinda annoying IMO. And I could completely care less about the lyrics.

I'm not a Marduk fan but I was still pretty saddened when they didn't make it for the Mayhem tour.

Newly discovered things for me. Hmm, The Ruins of Beverast, Nocturnal Blood, Kegcharge, Mammoth Grinder, and Disrupt.

You'll get used to the vocals in time. It took me about a week after I bought the album to really appreciate it (including the vocals), but that's just because I listened to it so many times. :P

By the way, check this out. Tell me if you like it. :D

Sounded a lot like Amon Amarth to me. The riffs were pretty sweet too! But yeah, the voice again bothered me. You're gonna mock me for this, but I really do prefer core screaming over actual metal screaming.

The epitome of shoegaze, imo. I've listened to a bit here and there and found nothing as captivating. Seems like there's a lot of clones of them in the genre, so I really haven't found it to be that fantastic of a genre. But there's definitely some gems out there, making it a fairly worthwhile endeavor.

Bombay Bicycle Club was really good. I would like xx if they didn't look like goth kids from the 90s. Anyway, lately I've been listening to ALOT of These Arms Are Snakes. And just recently started listening to Wold Parade, Faraquet, and Monsters http://www.myspace.com/monstersband Give monsters a listen. They're awesome.

From time to time, yes. I usually do when I'm in the mood for epic guitar riffs and the beautiful and almost ironic contrast Symphonic Metal vocals have compared to the instrumentals.

I'm the same way dude. The vocals on bands like that are more comedic than musical to me. What really gets me is there names though. Kamelot? Edenbridge? Is this a band or an RPG? Anyway, that emperor song sounded liked it was recorded in an underwater cave. Or a wind tunnel.

My bad, man. My bad. I really like when singer and screaming (or growling ;) ) is alternated. What form of metal has that type of consistent change of vocals?

UnSun are not Symphonic, they're just Gothic Metal, and one of the best bands I've heard in the genre lately; best use of piano I've ever heard outside of Symphonic Metal, and they don't just play power chords, there's some actual musicianship to be found there. Anyway, since Entwine (Gothic Metal) was the only band I was able to get you into way back then, I figured you would also like this. :D

As for actual Symphonic Metal, I showed you some of that back then but you didn't seem to like it. :(

How about I make you a deal: you let me have one more shot at getting you into Symphonic Metal, and I'll listen to whatever links you want to show me in turn? :P

Edit: Oh, never mind. I guess I took too long writing that post....

None worth mentioning, if it means much I've been REALLY getting into old school metal (Judas Priest, Sabbath, etc.) lately, but I knew of these bands lately, this is just what I've been listening to as of late...Paranoid, Screaming for Vengeance, British Steel, and Heaven and Hell are the 4 main albums...Even by today's standards, still absolutely amazing music.

Seriously. I have respect for the awesome riffs, drumming, and other elements of metal, but more often than I just really hate the vocals. But I rarely mind 'core' screaming. Kinda interesting. ;) I see you like Norma Jean. Does that mean you like The Chariot? And yeah, totally man! My fave is Gorguts!

Early black metal tended to have poor production quality, since the bands couldn't get big production labels. That's what you're seeing. :P

And, in any case, band names are not generally indicators of the quality of the music...

Bluestorm-Kalas

Hmm, I really recommend early Judas Priest. Check out Sad Wings of Destiny, Stained Class, actually just everything up to and including Hell Bent for Leather. Also, if you like Paranoid/Heaven and Hell, definitely check out Black Sabbath and Master of Reality (both Black Sabbath albums). Also I recommend Iron Maiden if you don't already listen to them, check out Powerslave and Piece of Mind.

Sorry man I can never get the names right! It's so confusing to me! :P Totally dude, I'm up for anything! And will give it a try than I guess. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cpIXKbACSFI Unfortunately, the no longer sound like this album. Very unfortunate, IMO.

[QUOTE="battlefront23"] I was slowly getting into in with the build-up... And then I heard the vocals. Sorry chessmaster. Sorry. :Pbattlefront23

:( you're no fun! :P

My bad, man. My bad. I really like when singer and screaming (or growling ;) ) is alternated. What form of metal has that type of consistent change of vocals?

I think you're going to love this:

Haggard - Eppur Si Muove

I'm the same way dude. The vocals on bands like that are more comedic than musical to me. What really gets me is there names though. Kamelot? Edenbridge? Is this a band or an RPG? Anyway, that emperor song sounded liked it was recorded in an underwater cave. Or a wind tunnel.

I still don't get how you can like metalcore screaming and then have such a problem with metal vocals. >_>

Yeah, I love the chariot. I would have to say Botch is probably better then both Norma Jean and The chariot though. They kind of got it all started. Well of course the name doesn't represent the musical talent of the group but I automatically lose respect for them when it's something stupid.

Hey, that was actually pretty good for whatever-core that was! :D

Unfortunately, I still had to say pretty good FOR... but at least it didn't make my ears bleed like iwrestledabearonce and Job for a Cowboy. :P

Anyway, try After Forever, Therion, and Sirenia.

I'm not that big of a fan of deathcore, but I do like The Chariot. Have you heard of For Today? If not, check out the song "Agape."

Lol That's at least something. And I really don't like Job For a Cowboy so we agree there. Do you know of Saosin?

EDIT: I knew the last two bands you posted and I like them, and the first band had really good vocals. Have we established that I already like Symphonic Metal though?

:P
