Not supporting same sex marriage does NOT make someone a bigot.

Trying to change to subject to athiests now? Pathetic.

worlock77

Just pointing out an observation. Most of them don't really seem to care about gay marriage either, they are just using it to push an agenda.

No, you're not. You're attempting to distract from the subject after getting your ass handed to you in this thread.

Nope. Simply pointing out that you guys are too biased to see other views. Most people in real life agree with me, it's ok if they don't but even the one's that don't they never call me a bigot. It's only when I come to OT GS that I see this kind of view, it must be a small world where you can call anyone who disagrees with you a bigot and deny any other argument that goes against your position.

Doesn't sound like a very open minded person to me.....something many liberals claim to be.

We can all find "updated" dictionaries, however that doesn't change the traditional aspect of it. Also, from a more reputable dictionary site, Definition of MARRIAGE 1 (1) : the state of being united to a person of the opposite sex as husband or wife in a consensual and contractual relationship recognized by law Nibroc420

Updated?

Nimrod..I mean Nibroc this definition of marriage is as old as the word. Get yourself one of them thar education mcthingies and peel yourself off the talking picture box fox news channels.

Also, you posted the first definition (as deonted by the (1))...go ahead and post the others, we'll wait.

It's not something that requires an open mind. Not something that's overly complicated. Doesn't require thinking or taking a controversial stance. It's one of the easiest things to defend actually. If straight people can get married, gay people can get married.

Most people do not agree with you. And no, I don't call you a bigot because you disagree with me. I call you a bigot because you seek to deny certain people certain rights just because you don't like it.

This is the defenition of marriage:

  1. The formal union of a man and a woman, typically recognized by law, by which they become husband and wife.
  2. A relationship between married people or the period for which it lasts.
Synonymswedding - matrimony - wedlock - nuptials - espousal

Marriage - Definition and More from the Free Merriam-Webster ...

As you can see. It says only a man and a woman.

Depriving them of the ability to marry the person they love seems like something that would require at least some hate or disdain.

yet you want to deprive them of something trivialy simple based on your mythology. Tell you what, I dislike your relgion, I should ban yours because mine is better. Sound fair? Oh wait, you wouldn't find that fair because it directly affects you. My, how the tables can turn when something applies to your own self

It's not the same thing though, because even if the law passes the law clearly shows that if gay people adopt children they will not get the same marriage benefits with kids as straight copuples, so what exactly will they accomplish with this? it's just going to make another uproar about them not getting that.

It has nothing to do with hate, I don't hate them. I want them to be happy like everyone else, which they can be with Civil Unions that grant ALL the rights of marriage. Simply not supporting same sex marriage doesn't mean somene hates gay people the same way that not supporting gun bans doesn't make someone a redneck gun-toting fascist.

Can't you just "like and live" with your wife? I mean, I know what you are trying to do. But believe me, it's ridiculous. Maybe you should select whichever time is next on your time machine. Avoid ancient Greek though, you wouldn't like it.

I don't hate gay people.

ShadowMoses900

Depriving them of the ability to marry the person they love seems like something that would require at least some hate or disdain.

All you guys are doing is just trying to demonize people. It's a propaganda tactic. "If you don't agree with me than you are a (insert name)".

Wait, Civil Unions still exist? So WTF do they want to get married? Because everyone else is doing it?

It's not the same thing though, because even if the law passes the law clearly shows that if gay people adopt children they will not get the same marriage benefits with kids as straight copuples, so what exactly will they accomplish with this? it's just going to make another uproar about them not getting that.

What the f*ck who is even talking about kids

And then 2 years from now you will be arguing for gays to get child benefits through marriage.

What are you talking about? Many gay couples adopt children and many have their own biological children.

Which they don't get the benefits for having a child through union because they are not straight. I didn;t say they could not have children lord.

Well apparently in some states civil unions don't have all the rights of marriage (they do in mine), so if they want the same rights I can understand that. So just make civil unions have all the rights of marriage then, that would solve this issue entirely.

They say it's all about rights, well they are getting the same rights then.

Propaganda is used to change and sway opinions. Not sure I really need to convince our dear OT readers that you're on the silly side of reality anymore. My point still stands. And we both know the civil union argument is worthless. If it's so equal why not go ahead with the marriage title? Since it's the same thing and all?

Damn. I wouldn't be able to handle that. x_x I'll just stick with something plain like red wine.

How about we solve this issue by removing marriage and make everyone have contracted civil unions which is basically what marriage is that way religiong can;t use it as a weapon of lol.

Well yeah...

If a straight couple can get married, then a gay couple should be able to.
