[QUOTE="Omni-Slash"]IT's rediculous....as an elected leader he represents us....bowing to foriegn leaders is completely wrong....bowing is not respect....it subserviance........I don't expect other countries to bow to us...nor do I expect our leader to bow to another country....Famiking
We bow to Queen Elizabeth the Saudi King should be treated no less. And good god, it's not like this is bad in anyway, there are no disadvantages to what he has done except crazy conservatives saying stupid things.

I think we shouldn't be bowing to any foreign power. My fellow countrymen didn't die 200 years ago just so we could bow down to kings and queens of today. If I was the head of a foreign state and my countrie's policy was to literally kiss my ass... would you still do it because it would be that countries policy?

Wow, this thread is filled with such idiocy that I'm honestly ashamed that my country has produced such ignorant idiots and that they are the generation that are supposed to supercede me.

That makes him a terrorist?

And no one should care what the US wants, keep your finger in your own nose.

Every country in ME except SA is a democracy. What do I attribute this to? Natural progression. Asides from what you did to Iraq and Palestine, and we all know how happy those nations are.

Obama showed respect. Nothing more. Nothing less

OK, in what report is it saying that Cons are upset with this? I'm as conservative as it gets and I see nothing wrong with what he did. It is just respecting their customs.

Do you have any facts to back this up? A political affiliation does not make someone clueless to culture. I'm sure there is an equal amount of both sides that have a problem with it.

for money of course secone bowing is not the culture of the country they have some weird habits bowing is not one

True. He did it to have loans in order to save companies that suffered from the latest financial crisis.

It is respect but why would you want to follow the culture over there if they don't follow it over here.

"the president cant degrade himself and our country by bowing to the saudi king, you hold his hand, kiss his cheek, and reorient our entire foreign policy of the last 20 years around securing his oil deposits.

What you want is a logical fallacy. I cannot prove a negative by proving Dems aren't outraged by the Obama bow.

It seems to me that only cons are making a fuss over it (as I showed in the link). If you have proof of Dems being outraged over this, then by all means share it with us.

Conservatives do not have a problem with it. A couple people do that just happen to be conservative. All you're doing is looking at this as an excuse to bash Conservatives.

kayn83

Yes, they held hands and kissed each other but it was mutual. Obama was the one bowing down while the King did not. BTW, no other president have bowed down to the Saudi King, Obama is the very first. There is a video of Bush lowering his head but it was to accept some big ass pendant necklace thing.

Wtf? can someone please explain to me why he would do that?

It's these funny things called "respect" and "culture". Honestly, why is this topic so controversial? Have Americans gone that far out of touch with the world?

Bowing in Saudi Arabia or in any other Islamic country is not really acceptable between human beings. You only bow to God. The King is not God.

"You" as in the people of the Islamic nations, yes. "You" as in people who show a general sign of respect to other people, no.

Yeah, basically they give a free pass to people who don't know any better that bow, but its still frowned upon over there. He should of just stuck with the handshake. Thats part of their culture over there too.

Obviously he was just trying to match his height with the height of the king. Or he saw a penny!

its the culture of that country. it shows respect. theirs already been a 400 post thread about this. theirs nothing wrong with bowing down. please let it go. george bush used to kiss him on the cheek and hold his hand, amoung other things to help their oil business flurish as well.nimatoad2000

Exactly. Why do people even care about something as petty as bowing down? :|
