I really think that McCain's speach last night was better. I thought it was outstanding, really, considering his usual speachgiving abilities.quiglythegreat
Yeah. Everybody I know (and pretty much all my friends are Obama supporters, I live in Oregon after all) has admitted that during that speech, they were all thinking "Who is this brilliant new man and why wasn't HE running for president?" And it's true. If half of McCain's speeches were as good as the one he did last night, he might actually have stood a chance.

well, also it's probably easier to sound eloquent when you're supporting Barack Obama instead of John McCain.[QUOTE="ronniepage588"]i dont care for the pics, but that sig is full of win, kudos to that.
i don't know if this is more about the fact that the world likes Obama's policies, but more so that it reignites the worlds belief that the American Dream still exists and i we're still the Land of the Free and Home of the Brave.
Too bad his foreign policies aren't that different from McCains. And don't expect to see troops home from Iraq anytime soon. Only Ron Paul would've have stuck to his guns on that topic.

...but Ron Paul is a Libertarian.:?
Yeah Obama!
Libertarians are anti-war, for the most part. And Ron Paul is a paleoconservative with some libertarian leanings. The only reason he seems like a libertarian is because of how not libertarian every other candidate was.
I'm so glad the 8 years of hell are over, all I can say is...thank you people for finally standing up to failed policy.IIRubenII
Well it wasn't like Bush could run again. Change was/is inevitable. America had no choice but change. All they did was pick obama over McCain change that's all. both were going in different directions then bush.

So true. I think his campaign organisers had decided a negative campaign of personal attacks was the way to go, and it obviously wasn't what McCain wanted to do.McCain showed a great humility in his speech, and perhaps if he'd taken a more genuine tone earlier on in the campaign he might have got somewhere. The only fault I could pick out from that speech was the audience. He practically had to tell them to shut up more than once.

Blessed are those who are most humble in their defeats
I bet old Soviets are cheering. "GO COMRADE!"monkeytoes61Only in America would a slightly mixed economy be seen as communism.

Our economy is not "slightly mized" at all, but it's not communism either. If you actually look at economic models, you'll find that the US has quite a lot in common with Nazi Germany's economic system.
McCain wasn't born in the continental U.S. ironically. So maybe you would like to revise that statement?I don't want to sound offensive, but now that America has the first African-American president, and myself being a Republican who voted for McCain, there's really no excuse anymore for many African-Americans as well as other monorities, no whinning, b*tching and moaning about Reparations, Freebies and Free-handouts, and so-called "white man is keeping me down" non-sense.
Obama's victory = ANYBODY can be President (as long as you were born on US soil), regardless of race, religion, or gender. As long as you work hard, be an upstanding citizen in America, you can accomplish anything.

Please tell me you don't honestly think Obama is a Communist... :|
I was just talking to my family in Portugal where there are some cheers as well. It seems to me that they just wanted to see if the US would even elect a black president though. Personally I don't see any big changes.. more big government, similar foreign policies, no more new jobs (or a total decrease).. oh well.

i totally agree.
i think he showed his true colors last night. it made me think his campaign wasn't a good representation of himself.

It wasn't. He was foolish and used a lot of Bush's campaign managers. If he would've stuck with Liberal McCain and chosen Romney, he would've made the election a nailbiter in the end (though the hardcore conservatives might have ruined him in that case).

I still don't understand why he didn't choose Romney....That would have made the election A LOT closer.
