If it's true that he's on the autism spectrum, that it might not be something that can be helped or fixed. Obsession and a lack of ability to understand subtlety, social interaction and emotions going with the territory.

If he's on the autism spectrum, he's highly functioning. Obviously intelligent and well spoken, and is in school. 

I'd like to think I'm trying to debate and get him to see other points of view, with the occaisional jibe. Makes me sound like less of an asshat.
