It starts tonight at 8 PM MDT.  I'm not going to be able to see it, though.  Maybe I'll catch it on the weekend.

SPOILER WARNINGS ARE MANDATORY!  Failure to use spoiler warnings is a one day minimum suspension, so please be considerate of others who haven't seen the movie yet.  Thank you.

Agreed. Depp is one of the main reasons why the first one is such a c1assic. Oh well, still can't wait to see it...I'm going to hopefully see it on either Saturday or Sunday.

OK, I just went to see this film, and I decided to post a review. Some SPOILERS in here, so watch out.
Pirates 3 is overly-long, overly-complicated, and the entire plot seems to be plucked out the air by 2 drunk guys in a pub. Now don't go assuming that I just don't like the franchise. Pirates of the Caribbean 1 & 2 were excellent films, they were full of action, were very funny in parts, and had me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. At World's End is entirely different.

First of all, the film is almost 3 hours long. Now that can be a good thing, Kong was 3 hours long and I loved it. But Pirates is paced very badly. In which I mean for the first 2 hours of the film I was almost falling asleep. It was full of very complicated story-lines and a whole load of talking, with short snippets of action thrown in every so often. The last hour of the film is a huge, epic battle between 2 ships. Its just a shame I didn't know WHY they were fighting. Apparently it was explained somewhere along the way, but I must have missed it.

Also there are some very, and I mean VERY random parts in the film. Take this example, remember that woman at the end of Pirates 2, who had a Jamaican accent? Well apparently she is some sort of special person trapped in a human body, I dunno. And when you burn some junk and get her to breathe the fumes, it causes her to grow to about 100 feet tall, then explode into a million crabs. Then there is some strange part where Jack Sparrow sees himself a skeleton and pulls his brain out. And apparently the only way to escape 'Davie Jone's Locker' is to tip a ship underwater when the sun sets. Its these kind of odd plot-lines which makes me wonder what the writers were smoking.

When the film isn't being completley random, its being very corny. Like during that epic battle I mentioned, Will and Elizabeth decide they have to get married. So while everyone is fighting, they are standing in the middle of the ship kissing, and nobody bothers to stab them. Not to mention the crazy over-acting from all the pirates, who all seem to feel the need to scream FIIIIRRRE! every 10 seconds.

Among all this, there are redeeming qualities. The main characters all play their roles very well, and Jonny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow is as funny as ever. All my favorite characters were back in the film, I especially love the guy with the glass eye. Also, when the action gets going, it REALLY gets going. The end battle is really something, has some stunning special effects, great stunts and is very fast paced. Was it enough to make me forget about the first 2 hours of torture though? I'm afraid not.

In conclusion, Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World's End was a big disappointment. Maybe I'm not smart enough to understand the plot, but all the people I asked also said they didn't have the faintest idea what was going on. While it picked up greatley at the end, there were times in the film when I wished I was somewhere else.
I give it a very disappointing 6 out of 10
Well haz, that's a shame.  I was hoping the first impression I heard would be beaming.  I thought it was a sure fire thing that the third would be just as good as the second, as they were both shot at the same time, but I guess not.  Still, won't keep me from seeing it.

I just got back from seeing it and I really liked it. I am not going to even talk about what happens because I think that everybody needs to see it for theirselves. It is as great as the first two movies and should be seen by fans of the movies. :D

I just got back from seeing it. I actually really liked it. The story was a bit complicated but you can get whats going on. There are a lot of deals and betrayals going on. Also I figured there would be a scene at the end of the movie just like the 2nd one but my friends didnt want to stay to see if there was cuz it was already 2am.  So i come home and find out there is a scene at the end that deals with the story.  So if you havent seen it here, WAIT TIL AFTER THE CREDITS also leave a spoiler and tell me what the scene is about, i cant wait til DVD!  heres a link about it

To those of you who are picking it apart, you have to realize that this is a.) a blockbuster series and b.) a disney film. even with Verbinski at the helm, you can't expect Polanski or Gondry- try to expect to be entertained.

I thoroughly enjoyed myself. I was pleased with the way things wrapped up in the trilogy so far and, overall, it had good chemistry between what was funny and what was serious. Right now, though, I'm leaning to the second film as a favorite of the three.

Just saw it earlier today, and I really enjoyed it...although it certainly isn't perfect.

For the first half of the movie, the scriptwriters apparently just threw in a bunch of piratey-sounding lore, that didn't really have any revelance to the plot and felt a bit stupid.

The second half made up for it, and is one of the best action sequences in the trilogy, imo.

It was definitely better than Spiderman 3, and a must-see for any Pirates' fan...although it wasn't quite as good as the original.

I knew i should have stayed for the end credits and that stupid cash register guy made me pay $12 because i did not have my ID with me i gave him my student bus pass but he would not except it  Anways the film was solid i would say better than the original but not better than the second, i give it 3/5 out of 5.
No, the Kraken was killed by Beckett and his men at some point between the movies... you see its corpse on that one island.
Well, I saw it at 11:35 last night and absolutely loved it. :) One thing that my friend that I went to see it with noticed is racking my brain, though.
Wasn't Will Turner Jr. at the end played by the same kid who got hanged at the beginning? With the coin and everything? :?
spoiler

the calypso part was wtf? but it fit in somehow, as for everything else i think it was tied in good, turner and jack were brilliant, jack hallucinations were great. and as for someone saying the cornyness of the wedding in the last fight, well what do you expect? they were about to die... why not get married. and there were some stale parts but it was great overall, also the first parts are really nice but then it slows down then really picks up. u may not understand the davy jones locker thing and the ferrying of the dead, but if you pick it apaart it makes sense. also for those who saw it... RECOIL, FROSTBITE AND RUM!!!!

end od spoiler.
