46 isn't too old. He looks good for his age and Craig would be 50 by the time his last film released. And I don't really think he's that famous. As good as he was in The Wire, it's more of a cult hit and got pretty bad ratings when it aired. To my knowledge he's only had two or three supporting roles in mid to high profile films since then. The race thing could be an issue though, unless the producers think that the media coverage generated from the first ever black Bond was worth it. Which is at least somewhat possible.AbbetenI don't know, man. I'd imagine it would be too physically intensive for him unless they use a heavy amount of stunt doubles and camera trickery. Craig started at 38 and would be 8 years younger than Elba though you could make the arguement that Roger Moore's last film was at 58 and started a bit earlier than Elba would have. In any case, I think they'd crack and not go with it since it would ruin the mythology or whatever. In terms of his fame, I'd say Elba is definitely a big name actor now. He's been in blockbuster films like American Gangster, Thor, Prometheus, and is one of the major roles in the new Guillermo Del Toro films.
It has been rumoured that "James Bond" is just a codename for an agent and if that was true it could open the door for Elba.
