I'm speechless. What kind of country do I live in where people would treat each other like this toget a few $$$? This makes me want to vomit.
Could you imagine this happening to your family?

Sounds like it was their fault. They aren't above the rules.Dylan_11Other home owners owed MORE than that and they were the ones foreclosed on. :|

Well he it probably looks like he would get back his house.. although it's costing them quite a bit.. I wonder if they will be reimbursed?

She fell into depression after he shipped out, but that is not an excuse. That is just disgusting. It's just made that much more disgusting that they sold it for a mere $3,500 and it's entirely obvious they would have got far more money by NOT foreclosing on it.
I wonder why they need these ridiculous bailouts. Yeah, with smooth business decisions like that, it's a great big ****ing mystery. How could they even sell a home for less than 2% of its value? That makes no sense at all. Sounds like some buddy-buddy insider dealing going on, employees doing stuff for personal gain at the expense of their employer.

She fell into depression after he shipped out, but that is not an excuse. What excuse is there? He didn't even know it was forclosed or he had debt.. If you actually read the article it was talking about how these banks in the place of his residence could forclose on any debt, and with out any form of court.. Do you honestly think the problem would be the same if he wasn't shipped out or his wife didn't suffer from deep depression.. What honestly could he have done differently?

It's not his fault. It is her fault. She missed the letters.Seriously, why are banks run by such disgusting people? "Hey, everyone, I'm legally allowed to be an ********! Guess that means I should be one!"StopThePresses
It's called capitalism and it is the practice of rewarding people for being terrible horrible people who would make some serial killers shocked at the cruelty.
This is why I want more regulations on banks and buisness, but thats me.

And then on top of that they sell the house for less than 2% of its supposed value, which makes roughly zero sense either way.Why did he not set up direct deposit? It's their fault they lost the house. I was out of country and had all my finances in line.....LJS9502_basic
I agree messed up story but its the wifes fault depression is no excuse to not pay the bills are at least be smart.

Here is some amazing logic though:We are going to take possession of your $300,000 home over a payment of less than a third of a percent of the value of it and, now that we own it, we are going to sell it for less than 2% of its value for some reason. Yeah, let's cut off our nose to spite our face.
I say that sounds like a crooked employee. I mean, why is the bank selling a house for under 2% of its value? Surely they EASILY could have got more. Hell, the people that were late with the payment surely would have been willing to pay more than that.

They still made money. The bank isn't there to be compassionate and sympathetic towards people situation. The cheaper it is the faster it moves.

Well, let's think about this: Someone bought it just to resell it.For all you people saying "It's his fault. His wife shouldn't have been depressed. etc" How does this situation NOT look crooked? Valued at 300,000, sold at 3,500, THEN sold to a third party who tells them they must now PAY RENT ON A HOUSE THEY OWNED OUTRIGHT? Screw that mess man, there are some crooked fat cats behind the wheel of that joy ride.
Fact remains if she would have opened the mailbox, saw the notices and paid her bills none of his would have happened. It is her fault. For all you people saying "It's his fault. Yup and they both made profit.
Okay, so you would be willing to sell the house for $3,500, if you didn't want to live there? You'd make a profit, after all. That's what I've been saying. The bank is getting screwed just as much as the former homeowner. Something doesn't add up. You know I could care less about the money made. That doesn't change the fact it was their fault. The bank had the right to do what they did. Is it ethicaly or morally right? No but it's still the law.

Decency, Compassion, Empathy. These things are what make us HUMAN. What sort of spineless **** sends a letter to a warn of FORECLOSURE and THEN DOESN'T EVEN BOTHER TO STOP BY THE HOUSE??? The people were living in the house, NOBODY CAME BY TO LOOK INSIDE, it just kept changing dirty hands, damn what sort of damage or infestations be in the home. Nothing was inspected, and they expected to make it big through legal wizardry. With the current state laws in TX they hardly have any recourse.Regardless of whether it is the woman's fault or not, why can't these cretins say "My bad, dude. Let me fix that for you." and move on? Why can't they say, pay your $800 + $500 late fee and call it even?

"In Texas, homeowners' associations can foreclose on homes without a court order, no matter the size of the debt."
I don't think you should blame the Country. It's purely up to the Association.
I see a problem because our country ALLOWS the HOA to do this dirty dealing that's so obviously malicious.[QUOTE="kidsmelly"]

That's not what I was discussing at all. (I was earlier, but not here.) 3500 -800 = profit.....Everyone has a sob story....but one would soon be out of business if they acted on them all. It WAS their fault. While she may not have wanted to check the mail....though I don't think one is alerted by mail from the military...she knew bills needed paid. And why didn't the husband pick up on her problem and have someone check up on her?Decency, Compassion, Empathy. These things are what make us HUMAN. I'd recommend never letting the house lapse for car repairs...This has actual been one of my biggest fears with getting a home. Got down to the last payments, then accidentally miss one (say car needs repairs), then bam. Foreclosed on by the bank, where they will sell the house for a profit.

People have jobs to do and people have responsibilities. It was the wife's responsibility to take care of the finances while her husband was overseas. The wife failed to take care of her responsibility and the HOA did it's job. Please Log In to post.
