I'm curently overweight and have tried dieting and it was difficult I've even considered weight loss surgery. It's not that I'm extremly obese, but I need to do something about it so I'm going on nutra system and I'm going to stick to it. I can recall being thin when I was a kid I looked pretty damned good I'm still a good looking guy the real me wants to break free. I would like to be able to fit into a pair of cowboy boots and be able to wear a cowboy hat without looking like a total idiot, I'd like to go to my first Dwight Yoakam concert in style. Anyway, who else here is overweight, and do you plan on getting your weight off this year?

That won't happen no matter how much weight you lose.

On a serious note, it's good that you're trying to lose weight.

I've been walking in a retention area near my house, but since living in a state that has insane heat during the spring and summer it's hard to do that, and the insane heat has already started. And being in the poor house, I'm not going to be ripped off by a gym.

Lots of stuff you can do inside your own house -especially if you spend $20 on a pull-up bar

Anyway, TC, there is no easy way to lose weight besides surgery. But surgery isn't very reliable, either, since you have lost X amount of weight without the discipline of regular exercise and healthy eating habits and consequently, you will gain weight. In short, three words sum up weight loss: diet and exercise.

Go for neighborhood walks or go jogging in the morning. I don't see why you have to be in shape to wear boots though.

You're gonna have to tough it out with the heat. Pushups and situps are simple but very effective. And a 5 dollar Everlast jumprope is an awesome investment. Jumproping is vastly overlooked.

1. Drink lots of water before you sleep and when you wake up, rarely drink anything except water. This will increase your metabolism.

2. Count callories, take your vitamins and don't eat junk food anymore/rarely.

3. Don't eat anything except breakfast, lunch and dinner.

4. Walk, even though it'll be insanely hot out...That will make you sweat more which will make you lose weight and make you more thirsty which will make you drink water which will increase your metabolism.

About #3, it is recommended to eat 5 meals of around 400 calories each rather than 3 meals of about 650 calories each.

And about #4 the weight you lose from sweating is water weight, which eventually needs to be replenished. It isn't fat weight.

Treadmill, get one and exercise 1 hour 6 days a week. Try to get were you burn 500+ calories.

Then just eat 1300-1500 calories a day.

Lost about 100 pounds this way.

Actually, I would say if he wants to keep up his metabolism you should eat many small meals throughout the day, not just restrict it to three meals. Multiple small meals rather than three large ones.
