If we weren't supposed to eat meat, then why would animals eat eachother?  I like vegatarians because most of them don't attack you for eating meat, (Except that one lady on trading spouses and Lisa Simpson.) but if other animals eat meat, then why is it wrong for humans, and what were Cows and Chickens put on this earth for?

Most vetarians don't consider it right or wrong to eat meat or not.. They just made the personal choice too..  Alot of people such as India (which the vast majority are vegetarians) do not eat meat for religious reasons.

Vegetarians confuse me also.  You need the nutrients meat gives you.  I myself won't eat something that's looked me in the face, but that doesn't stop me from grilling up burgers every now and then.

Because animals do it in a medium, nowhere near the scale that humans do. We have enough frozen and stored chicken alone to last humanity for 5 years

I once ate meat and then a guy said "You know that thing you are eating once was a living breathing pig" then I said "I respect your opinion" Then he was like "Don't go all accepting on me" then he slapped me! :o

many vegetarians claim that we have the means neccessary to not need to eat the flesh of other animals.  We can sustain on plants and other non animal foods.  Some are very active and involved in their crusade to eliminate all meat from our diet.  I knew this one guy who was very zealous and was going to testify in court, but he was eaten by a bear.

Exactly. They let their stupid emotions cloud their mind. We are a part of this planet just as much as animals. I hate how everyone thinks we are so different when all in all, we arent. We are just another brick in the wall. They eat each other, so why shouldnt we eat them as well. I think humans are too emotional for our own good. I mean, emotion is what makes us human, but too emotional to the point of delusion is ridiculous.

Not all animals eat meat, only carnivores and omnivores do.

Unlike carnivores, Humans (without use of tools) are not suited to capture, kill and eat other animals (we are too slow, we don't have claws and our teeth are not suited to ripping open carcasses).  We are much better suited to eat plants (we have long arms, flat teeth and they cannot run away from us).  That is to say, we are more like chimps than say, tigers.

Vegetarianism isn't about not eating meat it's about the way the animals are raised and sluaghtered, so it's really more of a boycott of cruelty to animals. Anyways you could also argue that humans have a choice of not eating meat, animals don't and because they don't have the intelligence of humans don't know wrong from right.

But on the contrary, a panda bear has the teeth of a carnivore, but it is herbivore. So really, it doesnt matter. Sometime in the pandas evolution, it switched its diet from eating meat to bamboo. Same thing with humans. In our evolution, we developed tools and fire to capture and eat meat.

Humans are omnivores.  That means a well balance diet of meat and veggies.

My sister-in-law is a vegetarian.  She broke her wrist a year and a half ago.  It has not healed yet.  She needs the right sort of protein - FACT!

We as humans are classified as omnivores. Not herbivores.

We eat everything.

I think we need a balance of both in your diet to stay healty. However I do not agree with the way that animals are treated and they're certain meats I refuse to eat. I won't eat lamb, because basically that's a baby your eating. Lamb's are less then 1 years old and that's barely enough time to even have a life. I think its cruel. I will only eat freerange chicken. I don' t believe its right to lock any animal up in copps into their one hundreds. Not only is it bad for them, it can also be bad for us too. I won't eat Duck either. So basically all I eat is Pork, Beef and freerange chicken. And there are probably problems with that too. I tried being a Vegetarian a few times and each time I got bably sick from anemia as well as something else I can't remember. I rarely eat meat as it is. Maybe once a week on Sundays.

The greatest argument against vegetarianism is the position of our eyes. We are supposed to look forward. Only predators have eyes with this kind of position. All herbivores have eyes on the sides of their head. That said, I could understand why vegetarians may refrain from food: simply the conditions in which the animals are raised and slaughtered really is appalling.

Yea, you gotta be careful when cutting meat from your diet, anemia is a very big problem with that...best way to combat it though is other high protien foods like peanut butter and the like. Its best to research it before just dropping it all of a sudden.

I ate duckling stir fry once....and I cried while I ate it...but it was so good. That was the craziest meal ive ever had...but man was it delicious. ...poor ducky...mmm ducky....er... o_o v_v im a monster.

That is wholly irrelevent. The actual consumption of meat is often not what is objected to; the conditions of the consumed arouse greater outrage. As well they should. Animals cannot quite so much mistreat one another, and certainly they would if they could, they are not quite so different from us as to do otherwise, but they do not, and so, Karayan seems to be right.

Yes you get it. I don't quite like the fact that animals are tortured 24/7. If all meat were biological I perhaps wouldn't be a vegetarian. Besides, as an animal, what do predators have left when you take away the hunt? >.>

Vegeterians are one thing, but have you heard of what some of the more extreme vegans don't eat? HONEY! YES! Honey! Could you believe it? They won't eat honey because apparently we are using the bees. We're evil bee-slavers of doom. My brother is one of those super-extreme vegans. I don't get that guy sometimes. Just a few years ago he couldn't eat a hamburger if it didn't have cheese in it as well. :/

Psh, that undoubtedly has nothing to do with their vegetarianism and everything to do with the kind of personalities that would commit themselves to such a choice.

Just as long as they balance their diet, then yes. But a LOT of people just jump into it and dont balance things out which causes...as you found out yourself, sickness.

I always love it when people misspell Einstein's name.

Yeah, I realized it as I submitted. Too lazy to edit considering Im in the middle of making lunch.

If you think that then maybe you should have a conversation with one. They'll change the way you think. Also as far as I know by statistics Vegeterians have higher lifespans and IQs then most meat eaters.

Psh, that undoubtedly has nothing to do with their vegetarianism and everything to do with the kind of personalities that would commit themselves to such a choice.

Actually its been proven that what you eat makes a big impact on your intelligence and lifespan.

Fad vegetarianism is big here (Victoria is a hippie town). Thing I don't understand is why being vegetarian is cool.

Is it the cute animals? Is it the perceived cruelty to animals and the carefully selected videos PETA ejaculates over the sympathetic masses? Is it for health benefits? Religious reasons?

Most of them can be sidestepped without going vegetarian. Cruelty to animals is easy - buy local meat, avoid fast food. The free-range meat market is huge (and very profitable) because they can take advantage of people who want meat but feel sorry for the poor animals.

Health benefits is equally easy, since most people eat too much meat and too much fat and sugars. Cut back - don't stop. A good steak or chicken breast every day or every other day will give you protein and iron and B12 and also mean that you can eat that much less soy product or legumes and rice. Variety is good, and vegetarian diets (especially vegan) only reduce variety. Eating healthy is not hard.

I eat everything - any meat you can imagine (other than most seafood), tofu, tempeh, fake ground meat (soy), eggs, whatever. I like variety, and could never stop eating meat as nothing offers the same taste and texture no matter how much R&D a company spends tweaking spores or soy.

Religious reasons are the only ones I truly respect when it comes to vegetarianism, mostly because the argument turns to religion and I want no part of that. Everything else boils down to choice, and it being 'cool.' It's not cool, it's silly.

Yes, and I doubt that meat has a negative impact on either of those.
