I think it's fine. Why would something that can make people walk again be bad? And don't say "lulz, Jesus did it"

I can't wait until we can use it to make clones of ourselves so I can have a fight to the death with my clone.

And then you'll just be able to repair any damage like *snaps fingers* that! Clearly this is the future of entertainment.

I am more than fine with it, as I can personally benefit from medical breakthroughs it may provide.

I hate how religion has any influence in whether this research is legal or not. It is ridiculous.

If they would just let the research progress they may not even need human embryos for long, I remember reading an article a year or two ago where a team of scientist working on this type of research discovered a way (based of of embryonic stem cell research) to harvest stem cells from adults...

It can curb biological defects. I don't see why anybody would be against it, but sadly such people exist.

Because people who follow a book based on nothing, written two thousand years ago by a group of cultist who influenced the poor in Rome into following them ultimately leading to a Christian majority in Rome and thus Constantine deciding that the only way to unite the Roman people would be to declare it the official religion of the state, forever dooming Western Civilization believe it is immoral.

Never mind the millions of people killed in the name of their god. A few human embryos is outrageous and murder and must be stopped.

[QUOTE="clayron"] You two are ****ing idiots. Religious and non-religious alike aren't all for stem cells because of the whole "embyro" thing. Dumb asses. There is no mention in religious scripture against the use or collection of stem cells. I am all for stem cells. Anything that helps people can't be a bad thing.

Easy tiger. I'm not an idiot though, thanks. I'm not going to waste time arguing with you, sorry.

Being Catholic, you could assume that I would be against it. Well, you'd be half right. While I don't agree with destroying human embryos, I do realize that this practice could cure many different diseases and disabilities. So I'm pretty much torn right now on whether to be for or against it.

Adult stem cells can be harvested, but they're not as malleable, they're much more limited in what can be done with them. I'm all for stem cell research. Embryos are not people, and the embryos that these stem cells are harvested from would otherwise just be discarded anyway.

I know you normally don't talk like that but still was way to harsh for something said on a forum considering you are likely to get modded for both of the comments you made

You're right. What I said was harsh, and mostly unnecessary, and I should have just went without posting anything at all. Especially considering posting like that is out of my character. But, I didn't really want to do that.

I believe that in order for people to be truly for or against it, they must first understand where stem cells come from. We have a few ways of harvesting stem cells, some more controversial than others.

It has immense potential that needs to be explored. To say that it's bad to use something that would have been put to waste to help future generations is moronic. I can't see an argument for the banning of it, especially considering that harvesting fetus matter isn't the only way.
