Because it's blinding obvious that this world with such complexity wasn't chance?[QUOTE="ShadowsDemon"][QUOTE="MlauTheDaft"]
How do you know that for a fact?
MlauTheDaft
The world is'nt actally all that complex however.
The magnitude is very hard to grasp, but the building blocks are quite simple.
You can litterally describe everything with binary numbers, and our challenges lie in analyzation and replication, more than comprehension.
Yes but the actual complexity behind it all and the brilliance of which is it designed is not simple.I believe in some form of god or creater or something....religion I'm not too sure about honestly, but I do pray every night anyway, just in case there is something up there who can help look out for my family and loved ones.
its dodgy mate.GrayF0X786You should take the compliment. It just means that you're heart is sweet like honey :3....it's not so bad when you think about it like that, eh sweetheart?

Yes but the actual complexity behind it all and the brilliance of which is it designed is not simple. He just said the building blocks are simple, which you agreed upon with the first word in your post but then you say the "actual complexity behind it all..." Building blocks means the foundation, there is nothing else "behind" that.
It could be design... but if it is, then the designer is far from perfect or all knowing, who would not be worthy of worship obviously. There are many, many things that have been "designed" that serve no purpose, make no sense of in nature, in other mammals and humans themselves... the only logical explanation that fits that would be genetic mutation, chance... or from the "intelligent design" point of view, a mistake.

Exactly. All evidence points towards non-designed. We eat, breathe, talk, and drink out of the same hole, guaranteeing some percentage of us will die from choking. Our sense of smell and eyesight is rather poor compared to other species. Birth can be difficult and only got better and easier and safer thanks to medical advances. Everywhere you look, animals (including us) are heavily flawed and poorly made.

Read Genesis and Exodus and come back to me on that, and you'll know why.I've read those two books probably more than any other to date. No reason to believe anything in either is true.
Just officially decided to be atheist about a year ago. I never really was religious and found most of what priests, and family said to be nonsense, but never really thought about it and when I did I just realized that there wasn't really any reason to believe. I want there to be some sort of continual existence but there just isn't any solid reason to assume there is.

Fair enough. At least you've read them, unlike so many other atheists here...Not really, but sometimes i wish the old Nordic religions were still practiced.
Id worship the Norse gods in a heartbeat.
The Aesir could kick Jehovas @ss, and the Jotun could give Satan a run for his money.
Neither. I'm not an atheist. I'm actually pretty strong believer in God, afterlife and stuff like that-, but I don't follow any particular organized religion. I was raised in Catholic society, so I guess I'm the closest to that line of faith, but I can't in good faith call myself catholic or even christian.

Fair enough. At least you've read them, unlike so many other atheists here... I find it fascinating how members of each of the abrahmic religion would have you read their books before they consider you a 'smart'/'justified' atheist. I am sorry if it sounds like I am putting words in your mouth but that's just what I usually get.Fair enough. At least you've read them, unlike so many other atheists here...ShadowsDemonYes, because merely rejecting the concept of "God" and claim he exists just isn't enough. One does not need to read every holy text in existence (do you read all those of the religions you reject?) in order to call their claims phooey.
