Of course its "opinion" based, but when it comes to music, having an opinion is already stated and known, so whats the point of bringing it up? If that were the case, then why ever argue about anything music related....
New Wave is alternative, just to let you know.... Grunge was part of the underground alternative scene...:o :P
And If you like Interpol, more than any Grunge band, well thats good for you. Im just trying to see why, and Im getting short vague answers, but I suppose you hearing it a lot and it being "dull" was a part of it. And to say Interpol has one worth while album, and grunge does not is a complete joke statement. Makes you seem like your a silly person who doesn't have a clue on what grunge is besides Nirvana and Pearl Jam (and your not either of those) I can easily name for you albums that are more cricially acclaimed by fans and critics but you'll play the opinion card so i guess it will have to be a draw. :P

Right. Then why exactly did you bash my argument for being opinion based? So they're both off-shoots of alternative? That still doesn't make new wave "part of grunge." Especially since it was the off-shoot that showed up first. And my dad listened to grunge quite a bit. I heard it so much that when the 2000's came and bands like Linkin Park popped up, they sounded good. :o Hard to believe, I know. And I couldn't care less what critics or fans think. Their opinions have no more meaning than my own.
And I do enjoy Pearl Jam from time-to-time (I own a copy of Vitalogy, actually). But that's it, as far as grunge is concerned.
I didnt "bash" thats way over exaggerated. I said no way,l was trying to get an answer but all i got were those vague bursts. How can New wave help create grunge but not be a part of it. Just as a quick note, New wave IS alternative, its the first known alternative music ever. Grunge started in the early/mid 80's not 90's...And there's the opinion thing again.. :P You are a stubborn one :P
You know, i was wrong about you. Your not as musically open minded as I first intially thought.
Vitology is an amazing record btw. Tremor Christ, Nothing Man, Cordouroy, Bugs, The Whipping....good times indeed. :P
