Recently, I have been seeing a lot of U.S vs Europe or U.S vs China and all the stuff and I have been noticing that in the end, Western society always end as the victor. Nothing wrong with that since I basically agree with it. But believe it or not, I sincerely think the 21st century will be dominated by Asian affairs.

From the 1400's to the 20th century, Western society have always been at the forefront of global affairs. Times have changed nowadays. China and India's economy are increasing rapidly with growth rates unmatched in the world. Also, considering that these two countries alone have 2 BILLION of the world's population and that's not including other Asian countries, its pretty safe to say that a transfer of global influence will occur from Western society(U.S and Europe) to Asia. I read in Newsweek or Time that Russia wants to increase relations with China and India having this trio power or some stuff like that, noticing that both Asian countries are going to significant power in geopolitics) And from what I have read in some economist' forecast, U.S' GDP will dip slightly with Europe losing the most (not significantly but a lot)

Now im not hating on Western countries (since i live in one), but to deny all these is ignorance.
But feel free to discuss.

But you have to remember that despite the huge populations Asian countries just don't have very strong infrastructures and are very underdeveloped. China especially keeps pushing to get stronger for fear of falling behind but they still have very weak infrastructures and such and thus keep falling further and further behind in many things required for a strong society.

Russia's economy is still in dire straits, granted its getting better but still, a country does not come back from a default in 8 short years, and china is too economically repressed to do anything big, india could become a major player though ill give you that, even the this distribution of wealth is not very good over there

You can place that comment where light cannot escape.Your Royal Ahold Company just closed all of it's TOPS grocery stores in my city , Cleveland Ohio. Then, after laying the workers off just before Christmas, they wrote them in January saying that they had sent them too large of a severance paycheck, and threatened to sue if the money wasn't returned by the newly unemployed people.

Yes, time to re-evaluate the value of the YUAN, the Chinese currency, and time for the USA to stop propping up China's fakiness with their own funny money, the "Federal Reserve Note", which is neither 'Federal' NOR' 'reserve'!

In comparison to their quickly rising nation debt, incoming senior boom, and decreasing population? It won't be recovering for long.

They hate each other, they haven't gotten along for a while.  Also, Japan's military isn't very strong either, and although China's military is huge and growing, they still use a lot of old Russian equipment.

On that subject, has anyone noticed how despicably arrogant and egotistical the Japanese can be sometimes? The Japanese know how popular their history and culture is amongst foriegn nations, one can't help but notice in a number of anime when some global catastraphe befalls the world, Japan is always the only first world nation left standing. The "we're cooler then you" attitude can get real annoying, real fast. Guess the ghosts of Impieral Japan still haunt them to this day. I like Japanese culture a lot, I respect them as a people a lot. But no one is perfect apparently.

He's definitely got the rocky Japan/China relationship correct, as well as China's booming economy.  I can believe that Japan's economy is slowing or not growing, it happens to urbanized and well developed countries, they eventually get a large concentration of senior citizens (France has or had this problem).

Yes, senior booms have happened before, but never during a world populationg upwards of 6 billion. Seniors are living a lot longer then they used to, thanks to medical technology and the baby boom of the 40s. Most of the first world is going to go through a huge boom of non working, retired seniors very soon. The worst damage will befall, convienently, China, Japan and the US.

The US's social security and medicare programs are disasterous and poorly implemented. They can barely support the current number of seniors as it is and cannot possibly handle the incoming train of them.

A good number of China's population is senior. They already have problems feeding the people in their country with their current number of working citizens, now imagine a huge number of non producing citizens still consuming resources?

Japan's current birth rate is actually -0.02. Current status shows that most teens in Japan are not interested in families or reproducing. That, in combination with the incoming senior boom is going to hurt in the long term, a lot.

[QUOTE="-kaz3-"]China+Japan=teh win. One of the richest countries in the world+an emerging superpower. 'nuff said. As for western countries, all I can say is that their power is slowly dwindling.CaptHawkeye

You do know in their history, Japan and China have never once gotten along and despise eachother to this day? Are you also aware that the Japanese economy is NOT growing? And that China is talking out of its ass about its growth?

So very true. I once got refused service in Japan because I was talking to a Chinese man.

Like they don't think the same way about American culture. Everyone thinks their culture is the greatest on Earth. You see it amongst all the nationalist fools all over the world, be they American, Japanese, Chinese, Russian, British, French, etc.

Based on what? Based on their rapidly growing economy, I'd have to disagree.

Their politics are unstable.

Not really

Because Tiananmen Square never happened. Isn't that right comrade?
