Ingenious, what gleam of inspiration from the heavens made you think of this topic destroying rebutal?

Mostly the arrogance from the people around here.

Based on what? Based on their rapidly growing economy, I'd have to disagree.

Their politics are unstable.

Not really

Because Tiananmen Square never happened. Isn't that right comrade?

Just becouse the polititions are using force doesn't mean that they are unstable...

Making friends again?  Arrogance is not unique to the US.

Actually, that usually marks the beginning of a downhill slide towards general rebellion. It happened in the USA during the Civil Rights Movement. The police began using brutal tactics in a last ditch effort to enforce segregation. Ultimately, the gov't ended it before there was a full scale, national riot on their hands, by equality reforms, which China will ultimately have to do if more events like Tiennamen Square happen, or face the end of their communist party's power.

I dont think India is going to have THAT big of an influence.  Most of the people are dirt poor.  Not all Indians are like the ones we see in the US (that are doctors and were rich in the first place).

Also, just because those countries are populated doesnt mean they are going to become a huge influence in the world.  A lot of tiny countries have huge influences.  I think China has huge potential (since i've been there) but it has a TON of problems also.

They have literally hundreds/thousands of government officials fleeing the country every month because they're on the run for corruption.15 million (and counting) CCP members have quit the party. Thousands of regional riots happen every day around the country. Eventually, if the CCP doesn't reform the country, there'll be another Tian-An-Men Square massacre.

Yep, because mass riots and protests are always just fun community activies completely unrelated to the stability of a law and government system.

On a side note, wasn't it a Chinese belief that when chaos and such begins to occur, that it is time for the present ruling power to be ousted by the people the ruled over?

China has the longest national history when it comes to unrest. It will interesting to see if it can keep itself together without tearing itself apart.

It is actually. I forget who said it though, might have been Confucius

But he was a hippy, so i'm not certain.

Considering that half of Japan's population are androids and robots, they have a chance to win.  But i'm sure the Justice League will be on our side and save us.

You do know in their history, Japan and China have never once gotten along and despise eachother to this day? Are you also aware that the Japanese economy is NOT growing? And that China is talking out of its ass about its growth?

Oh wow your so smart.. I'm going to come to you for all your expert, unbacked up opinion... and you got this information from where...?

Probably from my Global Politics College Course? And you're information came from, Google? I take it?

I don't think your course at your local community college is all that impressive... I actually lived in China for several years. I've seen before my eyes many factories, schools, construction, and etc. being built in many cities throughout China. I will believe what I see rather than what your white professor says when he has never been to China.... I also believe the numerous articles from reputable sites that have stated that China is a rising power.. So I don't believe your opinion that "China is talking out of its ass about its growth"... unless these sites are controlled by the Chinese, I think you are among the minority that believe China isn't growing at a fast rate...

My "white proffesor" just happens to be Chinese. I can also see that most of your education has come from the websites you've found online. Apparently, my grueling studying, reports, books, and proffesor are no match against your google arts degree.

Factories and school eh? In Beijing? I'm surprised they finally got around to building them in the cities at last. I mean, surely China's population isn't rural. Oh wait a sec...

Why are you trying to act like you know everything? *sigh* And no some of the factories were being built in a rural area smartass. I'm so sure my firsthand knowledge can't compete with yours..

FYI I haven't lived in any of the major cities before except Guangzhou. I lived in a couple different cities in Guangdong and Fuijian.  Most of the cities I lived in were rather rurals areas, but even they had some rapid economic development.

What makes your first hand knowledge so mugh more accurate then my research? If I were to take a man from the 14th century, and show him a helicopter, he would correctly conclude it can fly. But he would also conclude it can fly to the top of the highest mountain in the world, first hand observation does not necessarily equal fact.

Nor does research necessarily equal fact. Most of your normal study materials, like newspapers, pamphlets, books on the subject, internet sites, etc., usually have some bias in their favor or in the favor of the thing they're reporting on. Perfect example: Wikipedia. Do you truly think that there aren't Wikis that are complete lies?

China isn't ever going to pose a military thread. Want to know why? Of course you do. Most all their economy depends on foreign trade... if they'd start a war with the US (for example) then all their exports would stop... and their money would go *makes fart sound*. Look at how much crap we buy that's made in China. They aren't going to jepordize all that trade...

Better question, what makes you think I would even use Wikipedia as a research source? Read the "china's army" thread again. I wrote that I despised wikipedia and its policies.

Of course these matierals have bias, that's why you work them in with other matierals based on similar subject matter but  written from an opposite perspective.

Uhmm.. what are you talking about lol? Have you been to China? No. I have been there and have seen growth in many cities I used to reside in, these cities = more factories, schools, businesses, and etc means even some of the lesser wealthy parts of China is growing. It is actually a fact. A fact is" a truth known by actual experience or observation" . I "observed" these events taking place so according to the dictionary that would be a fact.

Uber Ad Hominem spammage FTW.

Uhmm.. what are you talking about lol? Have you been to China? No. I have been there and have seen growth in many cities I used to reside in, these cities = more factories, schools, businesses, and etc means even some of the lesser wealthy parts of China is growing. It is actually a fact. A fact is" a truth known by actual experience or observation" . I "observed" these events taking place so according to the dictionary that would be a fact.

If that is your definition of "fact" apparently i'm not the one who needs to worry about the quality of his education.

People were on the Titanic when it sank, that doesn't mean they knew every instance and fact as to why and how it  sank.

Better question, what makes you think I would even use Wikipedia as a research source? Read the "china's army" thread again. I wrote that I despised wikipedia and its policies.

CaptHawkeye

I'm not saying you do, I'm merely stating an example of an obviously fraudulent research tool. And while I may use it, I recognize the risk I run using it, which is why I usually say something along the lines of "I recognize that Wikipedia isn't a reliable source, but barring lack of time, I had little other choice," like I did in the China thread, so don't bring that up, k?

Nah I just looked it up on dictionary.com , its obviously not the best for definitions but I'm not going to a dictionary to look up this word. I still have plenty more years of schooling before I am finished so you don't have to worry about my education. "People were on the Titanic when it sank, that doesn't knew every instance and fact as to why and how it sank." Well they did know it sank.. why would they care about the reason for it sinking? And I do know the cities I lived in were growing, doesn't mean I know everything about the reason for the growth or how the growth is taking place.

I don't understand how come you don't just accept it.  You keep on denying China is growing, yet I repeatedly tell you I have seen many rather average or below average Chinese cities developing.  LOL jeez man where do you think Walmart gets their products from.. lol

Oh yeah, about those articles that you said are "not as accurate as your information from your college". Well, the truth is probaly many of those individuals who wrote those articles are much more knowledgeable than you. (That's a shocker, isn't it?)  They have researched their information as well and that is what they came up with.  It is their job afterall to write up articles, where you are just doing it to get a decent grade.

I don't know. I think they're part of Europe.

Russia's a seperate country, actually the biggest in the world. I also agree with your opinion, for one part China and North Korea aren't afraid to go all out, in politics or in war (especially war)

Did I ever say they weren't? You were insinuating that China's growth exceeds that of the US, which it does not. And it will not as long as they allow the Communist party power.

Wow China has the fourth largest economy in the world? Kind of reminds you of that relay runner who managed to get fourth place. Hey, at least he didn't come in last.

That's why I said long term meaing 20 - 30 years down the road. As I have said before I know China will not take US over in many categories for now, but believe it is very probable in the future.

[QUOTE="-kaz3-"]China+Japan=teh win. One of the richest countries in the world+an emerging superpower. 'nuff said. As for western countries, all I can say is that their power is slowly dwindling.CaptHawkeye

Uber Ad Hominem spammage FTW.

Uhmm.. what are you talking about lol? Have you been to China? No. I have been there and have seen growth in many cities I used to reside in, these cities = more factories, schools, businesses, and etc means even some of the lesser wealthy parts of China is growing. It is actually a fact. A fact is" a truth known by actual experience or observation" . I "observed" these events taking place so according to the dictionary that would be a fact.

If that is your definition of "fact" apparently i'm not the one who needs to worry about the quality of his education.

People were on the Titanic when it sank, that doesn't mean they knew every instance and fact as to why and how it sank.

Thank you for admitting you know nothing.

I don't understand how come you don't just accept it. You keep on denying China is growing, yet I repeatedly tell you I have seen many rather average or below average Chinese cities developing. LOL jeez man where do you think Walmart gets their products from.. lol

From their cheap labor. You think millions of people working in sweatshops is a direct sign of economic growth?

Oh yeah, about those articles that you said are "not as accurate as your information from your college". Well, the truth is probaly many of those individuals who wrote those articles are much more knowledgeable than you. (That's a shocker, isn't it?) They have researched their information as well and that is what they came up with. It is their job afterall to write up articles, where you are just doing it to get a decent grade.

It was Goebbels job to tell the German people news. Guess that means he was right about everything. Are you done Ad Homineming me to death yet?

Whatever you say.. I do admit China still has a long way to go, but they are developing. That maybe not your opinion but whatever. (Apparently having the 4th largest economy in the world isn't all that impressive to you.) We'll find out eventually in the coming years if USA can really hold on to being the number one power. I'm tired of arguing. Cya.

I do admit China still has a long way to go, but they are developing.

Did I ever say they weren't? You were insinuating that China's growth exceeds that of the US, which it does not. And it will not as long as they allow the Communist party power.

Wow China has the fourth largest economy in the world? Kind of reminds you of that relay runner who managed to get fourth place. Hey, at least he didn't come in last.

lol where did I even say that "China's growth exceeds that of the US"? Why are you making up things now? I have said China is without a doubt developing because I interpreted your "China is talking out of its ass about its growth" as you meaning China isn't growing much at all.

[QUOTE="AzN_BOl"]So you think China poses no threat whatsoever in these upcoming years to US? I mean long term not like in 2 years or something. (One more post before I'll probaly go to sleep)AzN_BOl

Not anytime soon.....no.

That's why I said long term meaing 20 - 30 years down the road. As I have said before I know China will not take US over in many categories for now, but believe it is very probable in the future.

Twenty to thirty years......again no.

So you are saying that if you search "China rising superpower", you will find websites that deal with China being a rising superpower? Amazing!!!!

cmon most of those country's may make alot of money but they have even more people to pay for, plus most people in asia don't even have decent houses to live in they would not be able to go to war, and as I've said, they have no experiance in modern warfare, and they are not up to the US in military technology, they are advanced, but they do not spend nearly as much as the states.
