3 types of people who'll be voting for Trump: Racists, white people of average intelligence, and those who wanna watch the world burn.

I'm the latter =)

That's like when they found the best proxy for voting Remain or Leave was having a college degree or not.

It isn't bashing, it's just telling the truth as it is, and then people from the "poorly educated" group cry elitism. These are the same types of people who dismiss the scientific method and, in the words of Boris Trump Johnson, are "tired of experts" telling them what they do and don't know.

Well gosh, wonder why. Perhaps it's because he's been talking about changing trade agreements like NAFTA which drive down wages for American workers. Those agreements are not hurting those that push paper/code for a living, or in other words; the "educated". They are instead depressing the wages of those that do physical labor, or in other words; the most important jobs in the country because if nobody was building the offices you need to park your fat, "educated" ass in you wouldn't have a job to go to.

physical labor is for suckers. the only reason those jobs still exist is because the fat "educated" people haven't invented a robot to do it yet :P

Well, duh. On of the things a college education instills, which most people underestimate, is the ability to think critically.

Much like alegbra, we don't think we use it in our daily lives, but the logical problem solving we learn through algebra is used far more often than we realize.

@kittennose: I totally agree that both politicians running at the moment have no real plans to help the poor. It is unbelievable how easy it is to pander to people. Now on the other hand I believe Bernie was in fact concerned with the poor and middle class and did intend to help them. He has spent his entire political career championing these beliefs. How did Bernie support rank in the poor, white south?

Actually not bad? The largest problem Sanders had in the south was his low popularity among African Americans, not whites. So I guess the reality of the strawman you are mocking and stereotyping is a poor ignorant black person that got duped into voting against their interest. How Classy. Your dog whistle racism aside however, Clinton was preordained this election cycle because of money and the media. Pretending that people are ignorant for failing to support the wealthy white protector of the rich that you favor is pretty intellectually dishonest.

@Wickerman777: The safe space was originally intended for white christian kids who didnt want to be subjected to sex education or nude art. The little permission slips your parents had to fill out to at least try to keep you from becoming a vacuous and ignorant adult all stems from the Christian Right.

Actually that would be ancient Greece and Socrates, though I do agree the far left is becoming more like the extreme right every day.

The far left doesn't dominate the Democratic party quite like the far right for the Republicans. Say what you want, but democrats typically govern as centrists at the national level.

Trump is unpopular with the following groups of people:

  • Higher-educated whites
  • Minorities
  • Women

Trump is only popular with the following group of people:

  • Under-educated white males

Go figure.

Wow. This is basically a partisan attack on my post because you support Trump and will take whatever angle you feel you need to to defend him. Sanders did not do well with southern white blue collar workers, are you saying he did? Black people were more for Clinton than Sanders and it is a shame. Are you saying that fact makes me a racist? I was not talking about southern blacks in my previous post, I was only talking about Trump supporters and their ignorant view points. Blacks are a whole other topic and I would be fine with discussing that with you as well. Black people never vote republican because they have been shown beyond a shadow of a doubt that they are against their interests. They did however vote against their interests when they chose Hillary over Bernie. The black community, I feel, was not well enough informed about Bernie but knew the Clintons pretty well. When you say that I favor a rich white protector I assume you think I am in some way promoting Hillary which I most certainly am not! Don't vote for her. Just don't vote for the lunatic Trump because he is ten times worse and that is really saying something! Try making your points clearer.

Yeah, not a Trump supporter. Like I said in this thread, he should be 40 points lower then Clinton, not 4. I don't see what statement I have made that makes you think I defend him, perhaps read more carefully? If I am making partisan attacks against anyone, it would be against Clinton from the left, not the right.

As for the rest: If you have genuine interest on the topic, you can find lots of political analysis of the democratic primary that states the north/south divide between Sanders and Clinton is inaccurate. Sanders didn't bother spending much money or time in those areas because despite Clinton classifying black teenagers as super predators, and supporting legislation used against the black community, she had their vote on lockdown. Which makes your "Ignorant trailer park dwelling idiots voting against their own interests" stereotype pretty darn racist. I mean claim ignorance if you want, but the African American community was in the vanguard against Sanders in the South, not white, uneducated males.

I don't blame the voters. They're voting for a man who promises them the world and more. They have legitimate concerns, save for criminal illegal immigrants and Muslims and they are sick and tired of a stagnant government.

That said, it's all voters' faults for not understanding the value of state and local institutions, overestimating the power the federal government, and the importance of government workingfor the citizenry.

I'm not going to attack Donald Trump supporters. Some of them are assbags but most are decent Americans who are sick and tired but do not understand the implications of a Trump presidency or the impact of his policies on all Americans.

Wow. The Privilege and Arrogance in this thread is pretty disgusting.

From Bruce Almighty: God (morgan freeman) says to Bruce; some of the happiest people in the world go home every day stinking to high heaven.

The way some of you look down your noses is pretty sickening. The person that works to keep your sewer system working is just as honorable, and in many cases just as wise, as all you arrogant pricks that hope your turds go away when you flush the toilet. And just in case you aren't aware, your crap smells just as bad as the person's that picks up your trash.

I started out my adult life under educated, and eventually earned an engineering degree and became a member of the non-under-educated. But I have never lost my respect for people who go to work every day, earn a living to support themselves and their families, doing the shitty, nasty, ugly jobs that make life easier, cleaner, and more convenient for all of us. You can find a vast amount of wisdom on the construction site, in the maintenance shop, and on the cleaning crew.

But you all keep telling yourselves how much more qualified you are to pick the next president because you've never had to muck out a pit of shit to earn the money to pay your rent.

@collegeboy64: Good for you. This isn't about the jobs anyone does. It's about being uneducated and not attempting to even learn what candidates are actually saying nor how their programs would affect the country. THAT is NOT worth respect. Electing government officials to run the country properly requires some information and thinking. Not pushing a button for whatever buffoon says something in an election to generate votes. There is ZERO reason for me or anyone else to respect voters that deliberating ignore candidates programs. NONE.

Being an authentically well-educated Hillary supporter means being aware of her roles in initiating and sustaining the ruinous conflicts in Libya, Ukraine and Syria that have killed hundreds of thousands of innocents.

It means being aware that the Bill and Hillary Foundation has accepted tens of millions of dollars from governments that train, arm and finance ISIS.

It means being aware that Hillary has won the political and financial backing of the US military industrial complex by securing the sale of US weaponry to the governments that train, arm and finance ISIS.

It means being aware that it's on account of Hillary that the Saudi Arabian military can use US-made aircraft to drop US-made cluster bombs on the impoverished civilians of Yemen.

It means being aware that Hillary favors direct confrontation between the US military and the Syrian Arab Army of Bashar al-Assad, even though that would necessarily entail direct conflict with the Russian Federation.

It means being aware of all the above and still being willing to vote for Hillary.

Yes, because as bad as she may be.

She is still not as bad as trump. This election sure as hell aint about idealism, but rather putting someone who isnt a thin skinned narcisst in teh white house.

95% of African Americans vote Democrat. Educated or otherwise. What would be the point of polling, we already know the answer. Republicans have made it very clear they do not have the black communities interests at heart and want a return to the "traditional" values and hierarchy that they enjoyed in the 50's.

I agree with what you are saying. However not all of these people you speak of support Trump nor are they all uneducated. Many of them even out earn what I guess we are calling educated people. Trades people are most definitely educated and often make six figures. Some of them work in a trade using their hands but also have a college degree that they are not making use of. They don't overwhelmingly support Trump either. I also wouldn't consider someone with a bachelors degree who works as a glorified secretary "educated". Education goes a lot deeper than merely having a piece of paper. It implies you have actually learned what you studied and that is not a guarantee just because you have the degree. If you are educated, as in understand what the hell is going on in this election and not an easily duped ignorant fool you are not going to support Trump in nine out of ten cases.

NONE.

Those that see the choice in this election different from you are not worth respect.

Got it.

Thanks for making my point.

That's not what I said. Nice straw man.....don't get too close to the flame.

Well, he has strong backing from rednecks, inbreds, and the KKK

These are very people that allow for the existence of liberals. If it weren't for them the liberals would become extinct as they can't do anything for themselves. Intelligence is knowing a tomato is a fruit, Wisdom is knowing you don't put it in a fruit salad. It is the wisdom that liberals lack.

Your kind of people JimB ( rednecks, inbreds and the KKK ), if it weren´t for liberals blacks would still sit in the back of the bus.

Modern liberals did little for the civil right movement, they are successful in taking credit for the ground work lay by Republicans and black civil right leaders for the century before mid 1960s. Hell, MLK jr was a baptist minister, religious figures aren't typically who you would associate with modern liberals.

To me, religious implies the individual adherent to the established doctrine respective to their religious institution. It's not the same as being spiritual; I believe you can be liberal and spiritual, but liberal and religious is by definition an oxymoron of those terms. With traditional religions and modern liberalism, there's an inevitable clash of ideologies which one's choice in the face of that conflict will determine whether they are a liberal or religious first and foremost. Here's a good example: do you think MLK jr was pro-choice or pro-life?

That's your opinion. I know plenty of religious people that are Democrats. I did not say spiritual. Also not all Democrats are "liberal"....there is such a thing as moderate democrats.

And I know plenty of non-religious Republicans. Not sure what your point is. Of course there are moderate democrats and moderate republicans. How does that have any bearing in what we were discussing?
