[QUOTE="Tikeio"]Well, the concept of race is retarded yet we give it validity. I don't know how some folks can give validity to one element of a social construction and not the other. If I'm not mistaken the one drop rule was used in segregation days to help authorities discriminate against non whites in areas they wasn't allowed. For some reason, despite segregation being gone it is still used today when talking about whether a person is black or not. She's not even half black. Her mother is half black, and her father is white. The one-drop rule is retarded.

Having black parents doesn't mean you're black. Having black skin means you're black.

That's my viewpoint as well. My wife's cousins in Nevada have Paiute Indian and Philippine blood. But, they're otherwise Caucasian in every respect.
So? The one that will really blow your mind is that Lewis C.K. is a Mexican.cd_romNot really mind blowing. Mexican is a nationality just like American or Canadian. Mexico has a sizable white minority. Not every Mexican is a brown person.

[QUOTE="BranKetra"]I've met several folks like that who took much more from their white parent. It's not common because dark skin is usually the dominant one, but it does happen. It worked out for her, anyways, because she's more attractive as she is than if she would've taken more from her mother. What the hell? Wow, america has a long way to go. I never understood why white people think they look better than everybody else. You guys really don't.That's the first I've ever seen those genes come out of a dark skinned person.

one drop rule is real. she has black ancestry. she's black
even if she procreates with a white person, its possible the baby could have negroid features
She also has white ancestry, so that means she is white as well.Is it an either or situation or does black ancestry invalidate the white ancestry by default?
/sarcasm that's supposed to indicate that I think you're being dumb

So by the one drop rule, if a black person has any white ancestry, they are white. See where that is going? And people wonder why Tiger Woods doesn't claim to be black since he is part Chinese.
No...the one drop rule usually means the person is considered part of the minority race. Therefore she is black.See, that thinking goes against everything for Tiger Woods then as being part Chinese, Thai and Dutch, he has more minority blood in him over black blood, hence he is not black, yet everyone claims he is black though he doesn't. I don't expect people to see how assinine the one drop theory is, but it is.

Black is not a race, It is a colour used to describe ones appearance. She is NOT black, She is white. Her lineage may be so and so but her appearance is of a white female.
