Kinda ironic that a lead star in a industry which is referred to as sexist, immoral and obscene calling out video games as being more harmful than pornography.

i do not think i agree. the volume of porn out there... or even in here on the internet is far greater than violent videogames. a thought.
(note: i have been poisoned once again by giant cookies. it was not the milk. but giant cookies. it must be a milk allergy? my right leg is aching slightly.)
That's bad if you are 16 right LOL. Well, bad in a sense that you are not ready for it.magicalclickYer, well the majority of people who would be affected negatively from playing video games wouldn't be ready to have babies, and that age would be around 16 and under. Probably lower for games.
The difference is the mentalities of parents. Many parents will buy children Rated M or Rated T video games.. Most parents will not buy their children a porn subscription.i do not think i agree. the volume of porn out there... or even in here on the internet is far greater than violent videogames. a thought.

In other words.. parents endorse violent videogames to their children. Some do not, but a large percentile of them do.
I believe you'll find the opposite scenario when it comes to the viewing of pornographic material. The parent will not provide children with access.. the child has to find means on their own.. if they so desire it.
tell me. what harmful effect can porn have on someone? so a 12 year old sees someone have sex. some **** and pubic area's. worst thatll happen is that they will learn something. what is the worst thing a 12 year old can learn from playing a violent video game?.. just how to kill someone in multiple ways. how to have sex vs how to kill someone. i think she has a point .trialedbyfire
i will answer this then try and call it a night.
i would feel troubled if i knew a twelve year old had been watching pornography. there is a time and place for that in life. they could learn something but in a way likely that could scar them mentally for the rest of their lives. this is true.
as for violence? i do not really know what to say except it would have the same impact.
watching porn does not make babies. also im sure even at age 12 most kids know what a condom is and what to do with it . trialedbyfireThe problem is that they don't despite that.
I kinda see what he's talking about. The worst that comes from porn is usually a kid becoming a socially-defunct loser, but the worst that can come from violent video games is a kid becoming a socially-defunct and violent loser. Neither one of them is great to expose little kids to.

okay... i see. i did think that parents were going to play a part in this whole debate that has flared up. you are right. that is the root.

Actually it could lead be a teen pregnancy which could lead to psychological problems with the teenagers involved in the sex and tension within the family plus it cost more than $200,000 to raise a baby.

12 year old is what. 6th grade? yeah. 18 in 12th grade.. minus 6. i and every guy i knew was looking at pron back in 6th grade. its completely normal and no one i know, including myself became scarred by seeing the female body naked, nor seeing it penetrated. people are too careful / keep the wool over their kids eyes these days. i say expose them to the world. the sooner they know the sooner you can stop fooling them, and having them fool themselves. otherwise they will grow up to believe whatever anyone tells them and be another gullible viewer of fox news or something of the sort.Gotta disagree with RJ. I'd say porn is worse because it's something that is usually done behind the parents backs. A kid can be supervised while playing Modern Warfare 2, but nobody would watch porn with their kids, and i doubt very many people would discuss porn with their kids. Hell, I've met lots of people whose parents didn't even give them the lowdown on sex when they were kids.
I think pornography presents a more relevant and prominent problem and is potentially more harmfulto young people than videogame violence. Sex is a more socially acceptable and legal (but far more taboo) activity, violence is not. Someone is probably far more likely to go out and act on an impulse after watching a pornographic film than, say, someone going out and gunning down an airport terminal full of innocent people after completing the "No Russian" mission from CoD4.
On another note: why is porn today so tasteless? Is there no erotica left in the world? Sticking genitals in the camera all the time with no context to take them in is akin to doing a gynocologist's job. Simply anatomy, yuck. If I wanted that I'd watch the nature channel. And why do Japanese porn actresses always whine like they're in pain??

Ok, let us think, which is worse for a fat pig telling us we can better look at his fat ass while he's abusing atleast 35 years younger girls legally, then to shoot down innocent polygonized people/animal/monster/aliens while there's an actual age limit to a game.
If this moron still thinks that Marilyn Manson was the main reason the guy from columbine, or counterstrike influenced the kid in finland to murder in cold blood, he's very shallow, but what can you expect from a pig that only knows how to eat, sleep and move his hips back and forth. On top of that it's already proven that watching porn makes you dumber, so it's actually just as good for you as drinking alcohol or smoking. As far as i know gaming, on what genre as it may be, can still stimulate the brain.
PS How do you make : Spoiler section :P
I read this and at first, it kind of anoyed me that a guy like Ron Jeremy would say something like that. But then, I just thought "he's hardly a guy of high intelectual status, he's a porn star, who cares what he says?"

It's more of a forced way of the "lovegame". I mean imagine your typical, to some what cliche porn scene. Girl can't pay pizza delivery guy, schoolgirl fails class does extra credit for better grade. The reality based porn is even worse van drives the street scoping women, spots target starts talking to her and persuade her to come with them. What's a kid gonna grow up like after watching several hours of this before reaching full maturity? That when you have a job that get's you in contact with people you might have a chance at sex, as a girl that you have to please your professor to easily get your grade up or that's it as simple as 1,2,3 to get a girl to come with you using the means provided in these type of scene's. Then the harsh reality starts to set in the kid might either get depressed or angry that his tactic don't work and he might snap in both ways.
Now i'm not saying that games don't have the same effect, but first of all in porn the video runs until the end, with out having to do anything for it. In games you first of all have to actually do it yourself, now alot of kids might already quit because they can't handle the controls. Another batch may end the game due to actually not liking the blood and gore.
It's a lot easier to protect your children from games to mature for their ages because kids simply don't have the money for it, or the parents come with them to the store. When they're at home most houses these days have internet access, at 12 to 16years you're probably mature enough to stay home alone, right? So what's stopping the kid from looking these things up. Oh ****, all the porn sites are blocked at this pc, next week he/she is at a friends house where it might not be blocked. It's not about emotional scarring of the kid, it's more about behavior, patience and respect when damaging a child when it is watching porn.

Personally I believe Porn is far more dangerous than violent video games. In this day and age any child who has access to the internet can access pornography, while although many underage children may still recieve violent video games from their parents, they cannot walk into a store and buy them directly. Because of this, pornography is far more accessable, making it far more potentially dangerous to children.

porn, violence, drugs... there you go. i may have been living under a rock for the last four or five years but since 2003 the internet has really taken off with all these sites that have been popping up such as facebook, myspace, youtube and now you can spy on people with however, old satellite images with google maps. since youtube the porn industry thought... great, we will adopt this software to our outfit. it worked in a major way. my point is this is a trend that will continue.
if you see the movie eraser, in that there is a temptress who is a hologram!
It would be different if we were arguing say, animated sexual acts, but when we're talking about people engaging in very real sexual acts it's the same as watching news, war or documentery vision which is almost always portrayed in a negative light. When we see "Real" violence we know "Hey, this is bad. People are getting hurt." When we watch pornography we see "Hey, these people are having fun." Children would look at war and know it's bad, that shooting other humans, physically endangering others or being put in danger etc is bad; when they see people having sex they don't know that there's a huge emotional component to it (not always, but it's there) as well as physical considerations (namely the risk of pregnancy).
In other words, there's a difference between reality media and fantasy media and between sexual media and "violent" media, but I figure most kids are smart enough not to grab daddy's gun and shoot their friends, where as many, many many many kids, regardless of age, are stupid enough to have sex and have to suffer disasterous consequences.

adult magazines today such as playboy, penthouse and this english porn that is terrible called mayfair is all rubbish! i thought it was. i did like the santa cartoon in the december playboy, though. that was funny. i imagined santa was putting down a name on a hit list rather than a naughty or nice list.
Well than doing a combination of both must be terrible

I tried both at the same time once. T'was very distracting :P.
The nature of sex vs The nature of violence Interesting.. all together I think violence creates more problem for the human species.. than sex does. Porn Star wins.. from my perspective. Though both actions are inherently part of human nature. But yes.. video games do influence people.. anyone who denies this.. might as well tell the people spending trillions of dollars on global advertising.. that they're wasting their money. But, they'd probably laugh at you.EMOEVOLUTIONagreed
Wow...that's laughable...
Sony Online Entertainment (SOE) has revealed portions of a survey which finds that many parents approve of their kids video gaming habits, saying they improved their hand/eye coordination, problem solving and typing skills.
The participants, 414 parents of children between the ages of 2-17, were interviewed through the Yahoo! Shine website during the month of June 2008. Games were found to help kids think strategically, with 70 per cent of the parents saying they had seen their children's problem solving skills improve since they started playing video games.
Three quarters of participants said video games greatly improve their children's hand/eye coordination, while over 80 per cent saw improvement in their kids typing skills from playing PC and online games.
The survey also found that most participating parents (87 per cent) took time to play games with their kids, demonstrating attention towards their children's activities. More than 80 per cent of respondents also said their kids played video games in a common area of the house where they could easily be supervised.
Researchers at the University of Rochester found that young adults who regularly played videogames full of high-speed car chases and blazing gun battles showed better visual skills than those who did not. For example, they kept better track of objects appearing simultaneously and processed fast-changing visual information more efficiently.
Porn is worse then video games..it's not an art...it degrades the act of sex..which is supposed to be intimate and private...plus it's churning out a generation of ****** up perverted 12 year olds...of course this is all my belief..*hides behind flame shield*
