What you posted sounds more like hardcore. Like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FE5VlbfT9TgI know what metal is. What you posted was a perversion of metal. It has all of the musical value of a pervert raping a sheep. What I posted was solid thrash metal. Like this. And this. Especially this.
Of course, if that's still not "metal" enough for you, there's always these guys.

Interesting choice u made TC
What you posted was a perversion of metal.OrkHammer007Metal is defined by perversion of established norms. There is no such thing as "true metal". It is an attitude, not a specific style.

Either way, it's shit.

While I agree that there is no such thing as true Metal, it's just a style of music, you really don't need to bring the whole lifestyle bullshit into this.
Then the black metal nonsense he tried to pass off as "metal" was a perversion of a perversion.Black metal is an extremely important genre of modern metal. Personally, I prefer blackened death to true black metal, but enjoy it much the same.Either way, it's shit.

I think I'll post one song for each of the biggest subgenres; one that, from my point of view, represents what that subgenre is all about. Let's see...
Heavy Metal
Death Metal
Thrash
Black Metal (1st wave)
Black Metal (2nd wave)
Viking Metal
Doom (of course, this is THE Heavy Metal song too, but let's put it here just to give others a fair chance).Â
Also, this is, BY FAR, the heaviest live performance I've ever seen of any song from any band. If you like metal, watch it.

In fact, the entire genre would be better off if black metal had never been created.Either way, it's shit.

Infant Annihilator (Warning: NSFW).

I don't like that typewriter-sounding OMGBLASTBEATS death metal, but more bands should do play through/tracking videos like that one.Â

I'm like "YEES; YEEES, YEEEES, wait, no Bathory?.... ah.... ". I always find the idea of "Viking Metal" utterly hilarious. Great list otherwise.I think I'll post one song for each of the biggest subgenres; one that, from my point of view, represents what that subgenre is all about. Let's see...

Also I'm gonna throw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RWFtMU2Ddr8 in here because of the disturbing lack of Gojira here. The outro is probably one of the heaviest thing's I've heard in a while.Â
Edit:Â
Actually I might be lying; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BGHlZwMYO9g the pre-outro breakdown in this thing is the heaviest thing I've heard in a while.Â

Viking Metal is pretty damn awesome... As long as it's Bathory, which is why I chose that video. I could say nice things about Falkenbach too, but that's pretty much as far I'm willing to go.Â
For the 1st wave of Black Metal I was torn between Hellhammer and Bathory (I even considered Mercyful Fate, but that was a bit controversial). I ended up going with Hellhammer because, again, since Bathory is the only Viking Metal act I actually like, they would have taken two categories, which kind of defeats the purpose of the list.Â
Were you familiar with that Triptykon performance? It's nearly heart attack inducing! :D

I'm more in the "It's power, folk or death metal with lyrics about vikings", that's why I pointed it out :) Otherwise yeah, though I must say that I enjoy Bathory's heavier period a lot more. :D It's good, love the song too. Though I kinda hate it how much Tom is down-tuning everything nowadays, I liked the more sharp and punchy sound Celtic Frost had."Heavy metal" is not a subgenre of heavy metal. Lol it's heavy metal, classic metal, heavy metal, old-school metal, vanilla heavy metal, whatever you wan't to call it' It's basically heavy metal and Judas Priest is heavy metal. And as much as Painkiller kicks teeth, it's nice to actually hear somethign from the awesome back-catalogue Judas has that most people rather ignore.Â"Heavy metal" is not a subgenre of heavy metal. Actually, that's a post-Painkiller song.
Painkiller is nice, but it's not as amazing a some people say. Everything between and including Sad Wings of Destiny and Unleashed in the East is untouchable. Judas Rising is an absolute gem from the otherwise OK-ish Angel of Retribution.Â

OMG, wtf is that? Who puts the treble and gain to 952000 and everything else to -11? God that's horrible sounding, it's too damn bright.
