I've already used my chef-d'oeu·vre with that 'things under the well' story. Hopefully I can remember another good one soon.

Yeah, it's getting harder, that's why I stopped. But after reading all these new stories... I got an urge to do the "seeker"-thing again. I'll horde up on some stories and return later... until then, a very short one.

There is a demon of great evil, that will be able to walk upon the Earth if someone is told of its existence and does not repeat the name to another. To the best of my ability, his name roughly approximates "Jkqxxllyuo".

This was told to me by a rather unkempt man on the street; if you have not noticed it already, I just told it to you.

For some reason it's stories like these that always get to me. I'm fine with all of the other longer, more in-depth stories, but as soon as simple stories that make you think come along, they always creep me out.

This actually happened to me a few years ago, it may have been nothing, but it was pretty damn creepy to me.

My aunt and two cousins used to live in a small apartment and since these cousins have always been like sisters to me I used to hang around their house a lot. I remember there was this big mirror near the entrance and they would sometimes see/feel something or someone in that area, my aunt even told me once she was putting on make-up on that mirror and saw this dark shadow reflected on the mirror standing in front of the front door and she could feel it staring at her, she was so scared she ran out of the house and went to stay with another aunt of mine who still lives a few floors down for a few hours to calm herself down. They also had a two dogs, a small one which was a cross between a chihuahua and a toy poodle I think (ugliest dog I've ever seen) and a small labpuppy.

So one day at was at my aunt's and my cousins and some friends decided to go to some party. We were all on vacation and I was staying there for a few days, and didn't feel like going so they left me all alone there. It was around 10 pm and there was no light in the apartment because they'd been late in paying the bill, so I just sat in the living room listening to my iPod and enjoying the darkness (I love darkness). After a few hours I took the earphones off and went to look out the window, and then the dogs started to bark at the door, the apartment was right beside the elevator so this always happened when someone got off on that floor, but when I listened more closely I noticed there was no sound of the elevator stopping or footsteps outside the door, so this time the dogs weren't barking at anything. I thought this was really odd, so I went to take a look at the entrance area, and I caught both dog the instant they sped off from the door and went to hide, the chihuahua inside the kitchen and the lab puppy into a bedroom from which the entrance was visible.

After I took in the strangeness of thisbehavior, I slowly went looking for the puppy. In order to reach the bedrooms from where I was, I had to go near the entrance area, if someone was looking at the entrance out of the bedroom where the puppy was, I would have blocked their view of the front door. So I found the puppy, it was hiding under a bed looking straight at the front door, and the instant it saw me, it started barking and howling like crazy, I could hear the desperation in it's voice, it sounded like it was about to die. I was very confused by this, the puppy knew me and it had never shown any sign of dislike towards me, so I started yelling that it was alright, that it was me and I wouldn't hurt it. After a while it seemed to finally recognize me settled down, so I went inside the room and sat down on the bed and the puppy came out from under it and stood still between my feet. I sat there with him for about 20 minutes, and though it seemed calm now, I noticed it didn't take it's eyes off the front door in all that time.

I believe in ghosts, so for me the best explanation to all this is that both dogs saw that shadow that had once scared my aunt and were frightened by it, and because it was all dark at that time and I'm always entirely dressed in black when I got between the front door and the puppy all it saw at first was my black shape and it mistook me for that shadow.

Two more things happened to me in the same month after that and in my mind they're both linked with that night.

The first one was when I came home a week later there was no one home because my mother was out of the country on vacation, and when I went inside I heard a noise on the second floor, I didn't pay it much attention and went upstairs to leave my stuff in my bedroom, and when I passed through the TV room on the way there were two very odd things there.

The first was a portrait of my mother lying on the floor, that was just strange but could be explained normally.

The second and more eerie, however, was that the crucifix hanging on the wall had broken, the cross was made of two separate pieces of wood and obviously the figure of jesus was nailed by the hands on to the horizontal and by the feet on to the vertical one, so what happened is the horizontal piece of wood broke apart from the vertical one and the whole figure rotated downwards by the nail on the feet, so it was basically turned into an inverted crucifix. I'm not even religious, but just remembering that I get chills down my spine.

Do you guys have an explanation for this events?

A few years ago, a mother and father decided they needed a break, so they wanted to head out for a night on the town. They called their most trusted babysitter. When the babysitter arrived, the two children were already fast asleep in bed. So the babysitter just got to sit around and make sure everything was okay with the children. Later that night, the babysitter got bored and went to watch TV, but she couldn't watch it downstairs because they did not have cable downstairs (the parents didn't want children watching too much garbage). So, she called them and asked them if she could watch cable in the parent's room. Of course, the parents said it was ok, but the babysitter had one final request... she asked if she could cover up the angel statue outside the bedroom window with a blanket or cloth, at the very least close the blinds, because it made her nervous. The phone line was silent for a moment, and the father who was talking to the babysitter at the time said, "Take the children and get out of the house... we will call the police. We do not have an angel statue."

The police found all three of the house occupants dead within three minutes of the call. No angel staue was ever found.

It was late at night and I was with my friends, and my other friends were a good 15-20 feet behind us walking. We're all about to turn a corner and I tell my friend that I'm going to scare the other group by jumping them around the corner. So I wait as I hear footsteps and I scream at what comes around the corner.

A gang of black dudes, one of them is like 6'9", the other average height of the others is like 6'5", and the 6'9" dude naturally throws a punch which I barely dodge. They were all laughing and couldn't stop talking about it, thank God they weren't like a gang or something that would rob me. I didn't see them anywhere, maybe they came from the 3rd part of the intersection.

kai, i think i have some sort of i dont know, visions into the future.

a few i can remember.

They all occur while sleeping. and usually are rare.

the first, when i was in the sixth grade, i had a vision of a man in a yellow shirt, sitting down, in a chair. i see the chair break, then total darkness. with a pool of blood sitting on the bottom. - when it really happened; i was still in the sixth grade taking a trip with my soccer team to uruguay south america, when i heard the flight attendants muttering about a broken seat, the one in front of my friend jorden. I started remembering my dream. i told jorden to move, and after some hesitation he did. next a man in a yellow spongebob shirt started argueing with the flight attendants wanting to sit in his seat, as the plane is full, we havent taken off yet and jorden was still standing, annoyed by the delay. The guy sat in the chair ignoring what the attendants said.

it snapped back and the crunched jordens old seat, breaking both the arms on the chair.

another, i was being "babysat" at the age of 13, even tho he was my 15 year old friend,,

anyways. we were upstairs in my parents room, playin the old n64 to bring back some memories, when my dog barked from the main level, and then ran upstairs scared. my dog is a husky, lab, and germann shaepard cross, and scared of almost nothing. we went downstairs armed with i think it was a bedpost from my parents broken bed, and saw nothing, my dog wouldnt come downstairs. we ignored it and calle dmy dog a wimp, to game it up some more. then we heard pots and pan crashing, very loud. we went again downstairs, this time with knives we got the first time down, to see every single pot and pan from the cubboard on the floor. scattered. this is when i thought of a dream i had a while back, of very short dream of a faint face, on a wall. we were scared **** at this point, and i told sean of my dream, we brushed it aside, and continued upstairs. when i got to the top i saw it. the face. on my wall, it was a reflection from the lightbulb shining through the decorative shaped glass covering. we ran. hid in my finished basement, fell asleep. we woke up to find the pots scattered again in the morning.

"My mother had a friend who strangely didn't care too much for her. She came from the Phillipines. There, her lady friend made a her a beautiful baby doll. It could cry if you spanked it and laugh if you rubbed her tummy (it was battery operated). My mother first received the doll from her friend that returned from the Phillipines still in a plastic bag.

My mother tried giving the doll to my grandniece. Niki was about three years old. She could barely speak, but from her body language my mother gathered she was afraid of the doll. So, mom tried giving to Christy, Niki's younger sister. She too was afraid of the doll.

The doll looked like any ordinary doll. There was nothing strange about it.

Anyway, about a year later, my mother forgot all about it. She said she placed the doll on the top shelf in her bedroom closet. My mother recalls that one afternoon she was alone, doing her regular chores and all of a sudden she heard a very faint giggling. She thought the kids must have been out on the patio playing. she peeped out the window to check for the kids. There was none. Then again, she heard the faint laughter. She soon realised the giggle was coming from her closet. She said the hair on the back of her neck stood up. Why would the giggle be coming from the closet? There was no one inside, after all...

My mother said she slowly opened the closet door and looked around... Funny, she mentioned, that she only just remembered the doll she put away months ago. She brought it out of the closet and carried it in to the living room where my father was watching television. She asked my father to put it outside on the patio, saying that it had been giggling after all these months even without its tummy being rubbed. You see, the doll had been left lying on its back in the closet.

A week later my mother called my aunt on the island in Maui. She had experienced living and dealing with a haunting. He father-in-law was a medicine man. My aunt told my mother that she needed to burn the doll, to be sure to burn it off of their property and that the ashes don't fly back on or near the home. I had a friend who had access to the city rubbish incinerator, so I got a call from my mother saying she wanted to drop the doll at my house and be sure that it was in there the next day.

Well, I had no idea about all this when my parents came round and dropped off the doll. All I know is, my son in law was the first to notice the doll on top of my grandchild's car seat in the garage. He said he needed to smoke and so stepped outside and walked around the house. He mentioned it to my daughter Tanya, that he felt an eerie presence when he walked past the doll. He said he felt as though it was watching him. My friend bobby came over, as I had asked him earlier if I could take the doll to the incinerator. In the meantime, it was getting kind of late and my oldest was in the dining room studying for college. My son in law was still outside with Bobby, my granddaughter in the living room and I with her. She was fast asleep on the floor next to me.

Tanya, my oldest, heard this little girl giggling. She asked me if Kali, my granddaughter, was still up. I told her no. She looked at me with a pale face and grabbed her books and came rushing to where i was. During this time, my son-in-law mentioned to Bobby how he felt weird whenever he passed by the doll. Si, between the two of them, they decided to chuck it in the trunk and take it to work the next morning. Tasha came in and sat on the sofa. I got up and sat next to her, talked to her about her new job. She was taking her socks off when all of a sudden, in the middle of the conversation, she looked at me strangely and asked about a strange sound. I said I heard nothing, and neither did Tanya. She said it sounded like something scratching on metal. I tried to listen, but nothing. (Remember, Tasha was not aware of the doll incident at all and neither her nor I knew Bobby had put it in the trunk). I thought it may have been our neighbour. Tasha insisted the scratching came from our garage...

The next morning, Bobby had told us where he had placed the doll the night before. He said that when he took it to the incinerator, his friend who works there wanted to take the doll home and give it to his daughter. Bobby had informed him of the strange happenings with the doll. Finally, it went in to the incinerator.

"It's a simple enough thing. It's all a part of the body's sleep processes. Sleep Paralysis, right? No big deal, really. Your body produces a chemical that paralyzes your body during R.E.M sleep to prevent you from hurting yourself by thrashing about during your dreams. No big deal.

Okay, so, you opened your eyes and you can't move your body. It's the chemicals. Oh, you can keep trying to wriggle those toes, but it's not happening. Forget it. Just relax. It'll go away. It's fine. It's normal.

Oh, now there's something pressing on your chest, real hard, it's making it hard to breath. It's heavy, so very heavy, whatever's on your chest. Chemicals. It's all chemicals. Stop trying to scream, it won't work. Your throat muscles are paralyzed too. You still can't breath.

You are staring at a blank ceiling, you can't stare anywhere else. Shadows flit across your vision, forming shapes you try not to think about. A clawed hand, a flash of jagged, shadowy teeth. All images from your subconscious. A face forming above yours, leering through black void eyes. You think you
hear sibilant whispering. Angry hissing, like a snake that's been disturbed.

Suddenly, a sharp white light briefly flares in the room as a car pulls down the street, dispelling the shadows. The weight is gone. You can breath, your hands clench sheets.

You feel an eternity has passed by but it was all the work of a moment. You wriggle, just to prove to yourself you can. You sit up, take a deep breath and then laugh a little at yourself. Sleep Paralysis. Stupid.

You turn to shake your spouse awake, eager to share your experience. You feel paralyzed again, but it has nothing to do with Sleep Paralysis. You stare at the blood, the jagged wound in her throat, her wide, staring eyes, mouth opened in soundless scream.

You survived your Old Hag Syndrome.

She didn't."

Caressed By a Demon

Ancient Chinese fables tell that dreams are a person's soul wandering in to another space and a nightmare is when a person is haunted by a ghost. When a person sees a bruise or mark on their limb but don't feel any pain, it is probably caused by a ghost's pinch. When a person dies in their sleep, they simply can't come back to real life from a dream...

During the summer of my college junior year, I had a perculiar nightmare. I was awakened in the morning by the feeling of a hand combing through my hair about three or four times. I tried to turn around to avoid it but realised my body was frozen in place. I could neither open my eyes nor speak. I started to gain a little more consciousness in the next few seconds whilst the combing continued and I learned where I was. I was lying on my left side with my left arm under my body and my right hand resting on my right thigh.

I felt the hand was touching my scalp in a left-tilting position which my right hand could not do. I could also feel that it was quite big and warm when it touched my head. I almost felt like it was petting me and the fingers ran through my long hair at the end. The feeling was becoming more vivid and the hand kept combing through my hair. The more it touched me, the more I was sure it didn't belong to me and I knew it couldn't be anone else as I was sleeping alone.

I started to have this feeling a demon was lying on my right side and was caressing my hair. I knew it meant no harm because it wasn't trying to hurt me. Nonetheless, I was scared and I couldn't move and tell it to stop, yet my mind was so clear I could feel every stroke of the fingers. This lasted for about five minutes which felt like an eternity. Finally, I concentrated to open my eyes and at the same time I could move and screamed hysterically and jumped out of bed. I didn't dare to look back, because something in my mind told me it wasn't a pretty sight.

When I think back, I wonder if the demon was attracted to my long and smooth hair. I never kept my hair that long again.

Red-XIII

A similar thing happened to me. I was 10 and was asleep, and suddenlly felt like I was being watched.. I woke up suddenly, and there was this greyish figure that looked like an old lady sat on the end of my bed watching me sleep. Obviously, I was terrified and when she saw the look on my face she disappeared so I don't think she meant me any harm.

This story is true, but it's not nearly as frightening as some of the stories in this thread.

Way back in the 6th grade, my bus always passed train tracks. One winter day, we made a routine pause at the tracks, only we stayed for much longer than normal. Everyone on the bus (about 20 kids) looked towards the tracks and saw a pale white figure walking along the middle of the tracks. Everyone, including the driver, freaked out. My bus driver called out to it, to see if it was a lost kid or something, and it looked up at us. The figure looked exactly like the girl from the ring: long, white robe, extremely pale skin, and long black hair that covered its entire face.

As soon as it looked at our bus, our driver shut the door and hauled off. Nobody on the bus was sure of what had just happened, but we all saw the same thing. I probably won't ever forget the image of that figure looking up at us.

This is an insanely long read, but very creepy. I can't find a proper link to the full story so I'll have to post it all here. Enjoy.

Mel's Hole

Mel asserts that, for years, locals had known about the "bottomless" nature of the hole, dumping garbage down the hole, including dead cattle, truckloads of old auto tires, and large appliances like refrigerators and TV tubes. When garbage was dumped in the hole, no sound of the object hitting the bottom was heard.

Mel claims he began a series of experiments with the hole on his property, including one where he lowered a roll of Life Savers into the hole, to detect if any water was at the bottom of the hole, at the end of progressively longer lengths of fishing line, up to the 80,000 foot (over fifteen miles) length of the last attempt.

At that point, in 1997, Mel sent a Fax to the Coast to Coast AM show describing the hole, and shortly thereafter appeared on the show.

Soon after the broadcasts, Mel claims that men he identified as government agents told him that there was a plane-crash nearby and that he could not approach the hole. He says that the government then offered to pay him a large monthly stipend to lease the land in perpetuity, which he used to move to Australia and fund a wombat-rescue operation. These alleged payments are said to have continued from March 1997 through the beginning of 2000.

In December 1999, Mel returned to the US. While on a bus to Olympia, Washington, Mel claims he witnessed an altercation between police officers and another passenger, after which he was taken off the bus to sign a police statement. According to Mel, the next thing he recalls is walking around San Francisco, twelve days later. He claims he had been physically beaten and his rear molars were extracted. An alleged IV scar on his arm convinced him that he had been drugged.

Mel claims that he later returned to the hole, at which time he was served with papers indicating that his ownership was now in question, due to modifications that had been made, presumably by the government tenants. Mel alleges that his assets were frozen for unstated reasons and that his wombat rescue facility in Australia was dismantled.

On his appearances on Coast to Coast, Mel Waters described the hole as being roughly nine feet across and at least 80,000 feet deep. He also claimed that it had numerous supernatural powers. According to Mel, a dead hunting dog thrown into the hole by a local was seen much later running through the woods, as if hunting with somebody else.

After his appearance on Coast to Coast in 2000, Mel claimed on a subsequent appearance that he had found a second hole. This second hole is alleged to be on public land in Nevada, under the management of the Federal Bureau of Land Management. According to Mel, the land nearby is used by Native Americans as well as "members of the Basque community" who were using the land for grazing sheep.

Mel described the second hole as being 9 feet in diameter, the same dimensions as the first hole. Unlike the first hole, however, Mel claims that the Nevada hole has a solid metal liner, or "collar" sticking out of the ground, 2 feet high, 2 feet deep, with several notches in it. Mel speculated on Coast to Coast that, "in my estimation... it could possibly be a locking collar... something could be lowered onto it and locked into place."

Mel claimed that the alleged second hole's collar was composed of a substance with the following unusual paranormal properties.

  • Mel claims that he dropped a box wrench on the metal collar, but that the impact did not make a noise. He says this implies that the collar absorbs the sound or energy.
  • According to Mel, the hole is "solidly lined" with this metal as far as one can see into the hole.
  • Mel claims that even in winter, the area around the metal collar is warm to the touch and will keep nearby tents warm. He says the collar is not hot to the touch, however.

According to Mel, local Basques say the hole has been there, in its current state, for their community's entire existence, dating back to the 19th century. He claims one man had personal recollection of the hole since he was young, over 70 years ago at the time of the interview (since around the 1930s). In addition to his claims regarding the Basque community and the second hole, Mel has also speculated about a Basque connection to the second hole: He claims he found a whale bone near the first hole, which he asserts could have Basque origins to a history of whaling in Basque culture.

Mel further claims that the hole occasionally emits a "black beam". He acknowledged that, "this is a contradiction, but a black beam of light, okay, comes from the hole. It lasts a very short time, but it just goes directly up to the sky... if you had a flashlight, and it was capable of throwing up a solid black..." However, Mel admits that he has "never personally witnessed the black beam."

Mel claims that he and assorted Basque locals performed an experiment with the Nevada hole, in which they lowered in a bucket of ice they bought from the grocery store. Allegedly, one bucket of ice was lowered 1500 feet into the hole, and the other bucket of ice was kept at the surface as a control. By the time half the ice on the surface bucket had melted, the bucket in the hole was to be retrieved.

According to Mel, the ice in the lowered bucket had not melted, and additionally, was no longer cold to the touch. He claims that the ice had been changed in an undefined way, and described it as having a texture like silica desiccant found in packaged food.

As a further experiment, Mel claims they placed the alleged bucket of unmelted ice on a cooking fire, and instead of melting, the ice allegedly began to "burn." Mel Waters described the fire as "not so much a flame, as kind of a... have you ever used a gas stove? it was like the barest turning of a gas stove on. It was like that last flicker before you turn it off."

According to Mel, additional trials of the same experiment have resulted in melted ice, unchanged ice, and occasionally (about one out of three times) more of this supposed "burning ice."

Mel goes on to claim that this new substance could be used as a source of heat, saying that "one guy took some stuff home, he put it in his wood stove... and the thing's been keeping his place warm" for over three months (September to January). Mel claims this man also reported that steam from a nearby kettle was absorbed by the burning ice, and that the area surrounding the burning ice was always very dry.

According to Mel, after a few months the stove with the burning ice crashed through the floor of the man's cabin for unknown reasons, and that the man returned weeks later to find the entire cabin collapsed into "wood dust." Mel attributed this alleged phenomenon to all of the moisture being sucked out of the wood by the burning ice. He claims that on a later visit, the stove with the burning ice had sunk 5 feet into the ground.

Mel claims that a team of unknown researchers, which he speculated as possibly being related to the government, appeared later at the site of the cabin and attempted to use construction equipment and metal chains to remove the stove. He alleges that upon pouring water into the hole created by the stove, the metal chains fused with the stove, after which it was successfully lifted by multiple construction cranes, loaded onto a large truck and driven away by the unknown researchers.

Another experiment Mel claims to have performed on the hole involved lowering a living sheep to a depth of 1500 feet, resulting in the death of the animal and the appearance of a mysterious "seal-like" entity.

Mel claims that the sheep was led to the hole, but became agitated when it approached the hole and had to be stunned and placed in a crate. According to him, the sheep awakened as it was being placed over the hole and began trashing around in its crate and making "screaming" noises.

The crate was allegedly lowered to about 700 feet, at which point Mel claims that the vibrations caused by the sheep's agitation could no longer be felt. He claims that when the cable had been lowered to its full length of 1500 feet, the metal collar around the hole began to vibrate. According to Mel, the sheep was left at this depth for thirty minutes before being winched back up the surface, where it was found to be dead.

Mel claims that from an external perspective the dead sheep appeared the same as when lowered, but that inside, "the sheep looked like it had been cooked." In addition, Mel claims that he then observed a jellied blob that filled the body cavity where the internal organs normally would be, which he described as looking like a "huge tumor."

According to Mel, the alleged "tumor" was removed, and the experimenters believed they saw some movement inside it. He claims that when the tumor was cut open, it released a "fetal seal," with human-looking eyes, connected to the tumor with an umbilical cord. Mel explains that the "seal" seemed to have a hold on those present, and that it and the human experimenters viewed each other for over two hours.

Mel claims that the seal seemed to him to be a being "filled with compassion," and that after nodding at the experimenters, it dove back into the hole. The tumor and sheep remains were allegedly bundled in a tarp and thrown back into the hole, thereby removing any evidence of the experiment.

Mel claims that he had been diagnosed with esophageal cancer prior to his experience with the seal, but that afterwards the cancer was entirely gone, with no evidence it had ever existed. Mel feels that he was healed by the seal-like entity from the sheep carcass.

In a later interview, Mel claimed the seal entity was now making regular visits to the Basque shepherds camping around the surface of the Nevada hole. He claimed that the seal was able to communicate with the shepherds through a portable radio. However, when recorded, Mel says that the result was only a series of unintelligible sounds, as one might hear in interference on a short-wave transmission.

Mel claims that a new species of bird has been spotted in the area of the second hole shortly after his alleged encounter with the seal. The bird was said to be bright red with a bluish beak and an estimated wing span of 14 inches. He claims that at least six individual birds have been seen in the airspace around the hole since the seal incident, but that no professional can name the species from a distance, and said bird has not been captured as of yet.

It developed into an urban legend, and gained the nickname SunBird. Mel claims that the so-called SunBird never lands, except near the rim of Mel's Hole. He speculates that the bird comes from deep within the hole and he claims that the locals believe that these birds are the cause of the sheep's death, and the tumor that produced the seal entity. Mel professes that he himself has shot at one of the birds, in an attempt to bring it down for possible analysis and perhaps dissection, but that after being hit directly twice, and tumbling twenty feet, the bird pulled out of the fall, and continued flying. According to Mel's story, no birds were seen until three days later. Mel reports finding two crushed bullets in his yard. He says it is inconclusive if they are the same two bullets shot at the bird.

  • Mel claims that a local Basque man volunteered to be lowered into the second hole, but that the man was convinced to reconsider by Mel and the other experimenters.
  • Mel expressed his wish to have his body thrown into the Nevada hole after his death.
  • The Handsome Family recorded a song inspired by Mel's hole called "The Bottomless Hole" on their 2003 CD Singing Bones.
  • The description of Mel's 2nd Hole in the Nevada desert bears a strong resemblence to the hole or bottomless pit believed in by The Manson Family and discussed in the various court proceedings. Manson preached that a bottomless pit with mystical powers existed in the Death Valley area. The Manson pit figured prominently in his end times predictions.

Mel Waters initially appeared on Coast to Coast on February 21st, 1997, and again on February 24, 1997. His next appearance was in April of 2000. There was then a hiatus for about two years, until January 29, 2002. Mel last appeared on Coast to Coast on December 20, 2002.

Thank God, I thought this one had been deleted.

Every individual will make 16 choices in their lifetime that will forever alter the course of humanity. No more than 16, no less than 16. These choices will be small, and at the time of decision, will mean nothing. They won't have to be choices which result in action, they could be choices that result in inaction. But months, years along the way, when the full impact of your decisions and the chain reaction of events they have caused are felt… you may have been the one who caused the end of the world. And you will never know.

You were out of town for the weekend. When you came back to your apartment, your mailbox was stuffed full. At least 30 letters. Letters with no return address, several of them felt soggy and heavy, as though they were recently wet, or perhaps contained a liquid. All of the letters have your name and address written on them, and many of them had your name scratched all over them in red in. They don't smell nice, they smell like rotting meat and old garbage and you're reluctant to take them back to your room, but curiosity gets the better of you. You manage to cart them all back to your room, you dump them in your kitchenette sink because you don't want them smelling up the rest of the apartment.

You grab one that doesn't seem damp and isn't covered with writing, and open it up. There's pictures inside. Pictures of people you don't know, with their eyes torn out, teeth missing, unhinged jaws hanging open, throats ripped out. You're horrified and yet you can't help but wonder what's in the rest of the letters. You open more, and more to discover increasingly gruesome photos of dead people. Piles of bodies with limps missing, splayed open corpses on operating tables with their vital organs removed, hanged bodies that have been gutted and bled dry. Some of the soggy letters had blood and other fluids in them.

The more letters you open, the more you notice that not all of the people are strangers. Some of them were people you see at work, others people you went to high school with. By the time you get to the last few letters, the pictures are of the mutilated bodies of your close friends and family members.

Eventually you reach the last letter. You don't want to know what's in it, but it's not like you have a choice now. You peel the letter open, and it's a picture of yourself. Not dead, eyes intact, no limbs missing. It's a picture of you entering your apartment building earlier that day, shortly before you collected your disgusting letters.

As you hear a door elsewhere in your apartment open, you black out.

I also like stories about insanity... and people who've become insane but haven't realized it yet... everything that can be true is creepy.

My Girlfriend's Eyes

It was her eyes that first attracted me to her. I didn't believe in love, but the first time I gazed into her beautiful green eyes I knew she was the one.

I loved seeing myself reflected in those eyes, looking deep into her soul and knowing I was a part of it. It's kinda stupid, but I even wrote poetry about them. I don't remember much, but I told her "There's so much life within your eyes, and so
much love".

Oh God, I loved the way the light danced within them. I just couldn't imagine not being able to stare dreamily into them.

Now if I could just find a box that was half as beautiful as her eyes, I could stop carrying them round in my pocket.

A young girl is left home alone with only her dog to protect her. When night approaches, she locks all the doors and tries to lock all the windows but one won't close.

She decides to leave it unlocked and goes to bed. Her dog takes its customary place under her bed.

In the deep of night she awakens to a dripping sound coming from the bathroom. The girl is too scared to go check so she reaches her hand under the bed. She feels a reassuring lick from her dog and falls back to sleep. She reawakens to the dripping sound, reaches her hand down to the dog where she feels the reassuring lick and falls back to sleep. Once more she awakens to the dripping sound. She reaches her hand down and feels the lick of her dog.

Now curious about the dripping sound, she gets up and slowly walks towards the bathroom, the dripping sound getting louder as she approaches. She reaches the bathroom and turns on the light. She is greeted by a horrific sight; hanging from the shower nozzle is her dog with its throat slit open and its blood dripping into the bathtub.

Something on the bathroom mirror catches her eye she turns around. Written on the bathroom mirror in her dog's blood are the words "HUMANS CAN LICK TOO".

There was a girl who went back to her dorm room late one night to retrieve her books before heading over to her boyfriends dorm to spend the night. She entered the room, but knowing her roommate would be sleeping, she didn't turn on the light.

She stumbled around the room in the dark for several minutes, gathering what she would need before finally leaving. The next afternoon, she came back to her room to find it surrounded by police.

When asked if she lived there, she replied with a yes. They took her into the room, and there, written on the wall in blood, were the words, "Aren't you glad you didn't turn on the light?"

It's 5:00 am right now.

I was just about to hop into bed, and while checking OT one last time, i find this thread.

I'd been reading it since it was first started, and i'm really glad it got bumped. I've been craving for some scary stories all week, but i don't have the guts to look around for myself.

Either way, the lights are on, i'm constantly checking around me, and i'm not tired at all. I only read half a page. I'll save the rest for tomorrow.

Window Shadow

When I was in my early teens, I had a bedroom with a big window and my bed was right beside it. One night I woke up to the heavy sound of breathing just outside the window and thought I saw a shadow duck for cover. I could still hear the heavy breathing, so I knew whoever it was was still around. Being curious and thinking it might be a burglar, I wanted to look out the window and see who it was. I knew I was relatively safe as there were bars and screens fitted to our windows, so I looked out. I couldn't see anyone around... I tried to think rationally: There might be a couple going for it just around the corner or there might be a dog giving birth outside, or there might be a burglar. I knew I wasn't fooling myself because I was getting scared and there was clearly no sign of anyone outside! So I did the most logical thing anyone could think of - pull the covers over my head and try to go back to sleep.

The following night, I was still scared so I made plans to sleep in the lounge room where there's a big TV to try and keep my mind off of the previous night's events. Plus, we had two dogs at the time that slept there. At this stage, I still hadn't told anyone about it. I thought, I'll just get through tonight... nothing will happen... things will go back to normal and I won't be scared anymore.

Our lounge room certainly felt safer to me than my room, until I lied down on the sofa and realied that it was right next to the biggest window in the house. The window is facing the street and there are street lights that shine in even when the lights are turned off, which helped calm me down a bit and eventually go to sleep.

I woke up in the middle of the night again. This tim, there were no sounds of heavy breathing which was a good start.... I had a look around the room just to make sure the dogs were fairly close by. The fan was on and it blew the light curtains away from the window. And there it was... a tall shadow of a man just standing there. I tried to stay calm, pretend I was still asleep (in case it was a burglar). I turned to face the window and pulled the blanket up to my face so that it was under the shadow and then tried to see who this man behind the shadow was. It was really strange because I could see through the shadow which was cast on the fly screen and there was no one there. I stared at it for a few minutes thinking that if it's a ghost it will go away... it didn't. I looked around for any trees, branches, bushes or anything that might have cast the shadow, but I had a clear view of the street lights. Nobody, nothing... By this time, I realised the shadow seemed too tall to be an average man (about 7-8 ft and no one in our area is that tall). I thought that it was probably floating on air and this scared me all the more.

I called out to my mother five times (I was counting). I thought any sane burglar or ghost would go once they knew you're calling for backup... it didn't. It just hovered there! On the sixth call, my mum finally got up and I heard her footsteps coming. I looked back at the shadow and it started to move sideways, floating to the right side of the window until it was gone by the time my mother got to the lounge room. Since I couldn't make sense of what happeened, I told her that there might be a burglar because I just saw a shadow outside. She turns on all the lights outside to see if anyone was around or running away. I wasn't surprised to hear that there was no one.

Did you see it?! Look a little closer at the pic...

Oh, now that's a good one!

Do you guys have an explanation for this events?

black_cat19

no but i had a similarexperience with the dog thing too , it happened with my cat pinky, i was fixing the air conditioner switch at 3 Am, everyone in the house was sleeping in the 2nd floor while i was studying in the living room , my cat pinky was lying right next to my tv (which was turned off) staring at me while i was working , all of sudden i heard growling coming from behind me , when i turned around i saw my cat pinky becoming defensive and getting ready to attack , he kept moving his head up and down like there was something standing right behind my shoulder , i tried to stay calm and calm him since any wrong move would make him attack me , but the strange thing is that when i moved from my old position the cat kept his eyes on the same location and got even more scared , i knew there was something standing close to me when i was working, he calmed down a few minutes after i moved from the air conditioner switch and returned to normal as if the thing that scared him was gone.

The ghost in the garden

I woke up early in the morning about 3 a.m. Something just didn't seem right in the house. I lay there awake for a while and then decided to go downstairs to the kitchen to get a glass of water.

It had been raining the night before and I could see outside through our sliding glass door that looks out onto the back lawn that it was a little misty or even foggy out. I poured myself a glass of water from the tap and then sat down at the kitchen table. I was looking outside at the lawn through the sliding glass doors. I could see our big sycamore tree next to the fence; just beyond it was barely visible through the fog. That's when I saw it. That's when I saw the ghost.

I could tell that it was a human figure. It was so white that it seemed to glow. It was kind of billowing, too, like seeing a person who was swimming underwater. You can see them, but you can't really make out the edges. It didn't have legs – it's body just sort of dissolved away toward the ground. It floated there for a moment or two and then I guess it must have sensed that I was looking at it because it turned a little toward me and then... and then... it just ascended straight up into the sky.

I stood there for what seemed like an hour, just waiting for it to come back. I didn't even realize that I had been standing. I must have stood up when I saw it fly up into the air.

The next morning I was telling my mother about it and she got this look in her face. I could tell that the story had got her scared. She said "You're moving with your auntie and uncle in Bel-air"

I whistled for a cab, and when it came near, The license plate said "fresh" and it had dice in the mirror. If anything I could say that this cab was rare, But I thought "Nah forget it, Yo homes to Bel Air."

I pulled up to the house about seven or eight, and I yelled to the cabby "Yo homes, smell ya later!" Looked at my kingdom, I was finally there, To sit on my throne as the Prince of Bel Air.

Every child fears under their bed. If they don't, they fear the closet, or maybe that little crack in the almost closed door.

Scientists know that children are more perceptive, they see things adults don't. They aren't yet tethered into only accepting what society wants them to accept. They see what is truly there.

They see the monsters.

If you were to borrow a child's eyes and see through them for a night, you would go insane. To be able to see what you only dimly remember, burrowing into your covers while wearing those train pajamas, hoping to a God you can barely comprehend that "it" doesn't see you back...would drive an adult crazy. Because Adults forget the rules.

1)Cover yourself. If you can't see it, it can't see you. Even if it makes it harder to breathe.

2) Don't make a noise. Every whimper can lead to destruction.

3) Don't move. It attracts their attention.

4) Only light can make them go away. Bright light. Flashlights make it worse.

Teens are caught in the middle. They still feel what's there, but they cannot see... and they forget the rules....

Why do you think there are so many insomniacs typing at their computers, subconsciously praying the light from their monitor will be enough to keep -them- away? .....

It's not. Now look behind you with a child's eyes and try not to scream.

Vampire_Turtle

That's true, and yeah I tried my best to keep the thread alive. I know other people concentrated also :)

I'm a teen, and yes that's exactly how I feel. After seeing a ghost, it leaves you scarred with you huge paranoia.

I agree with you, I've a seen a ghost too. I'm gonna tell my creppy story now.

About a year back I was at my Grandma's house. its a really old house.

That night I went to sleep, but before i did looked down the staircase next to the guest room. I couldn't shake the feeling that the shadows seemed to move.

That morning I woke up, grabed some clothes and went for the shower. As i got out, i grabed my towel and looked towards the door. thats when i saw the man. He was about 6 feet tall, and had a brown suit, but his faced was not visble, as if smeared with black ink. I was scared ****less. As soon as he appeared he was gone. I felt my heart pounding. I got dressed and left the Bathroom.

As i left i saw him again for a split second in the hallway, walking towards my grandma's room, and he look back at me, as to follow, I didn't. I went downstairs and didn't talk about my experience for a few days. My family wasn't surprised, everyone knew the house was haunted, and every once in a while i smell Cologne or the smell like someone just got out of the shower, and i know hes around.

And the creepiest part is, when i told my dad my story, he told me he saw him too, in the bathroom, where in saw him.Now everytime i get out of the shower, i look towards where i saw him, to make sure hes not there, watching me.....

I started reading this about 4 nights ago... I have just reached the current end of the thread and OMFG+EPICWIN.

I would like to say that Red's pictures are perfect. I copied his style for another thread where I added the Red-Eye/Hotel Room post along with a picture in different forum. I absolutely loved the time I spent going through this thread and unnerved to a point of hilarity..

Awesome work people, glad to see it lasted long enough for me to see it. I definitely have been a little more restless than usual while laying in bed, alone in the dark :P

Oh yeah, here's the picture I made for the hotel room story... I was debating with myself of quoting the story but I thought it would be better for people who see this post and not know about the story get interested and go back to read it. It was on the first few pages anyway. You should definitely check it out, as well as other stories missed.

RedXIII, what is in the window?? I can't make out anything...

I hate windows cuz when I'm in my kitchen at night there are no curtains for the windows, so anyone (or anything...) can look in. I'm always paranoid that I'll see something gazing in the window at me...

Look real close at the middle left...

And yes, that is quite scary. You know how when you shine a flashlight at someone in the dark? You can see them perfectly but they can only see a bright light. It's the same with windows and the lights on inside. They can see you clear as day and all you can see is infinite black...

Why thankyou :) I do my best to find one that gives people chills. I think the pics add that little bit more. It's bad enough to ready something creepy, then to have something jump out at you when you scroll down.

As for your pic, it's pretty good. I usually find mine online with a quick search since I'm lazy. But I usually find a good one within a few seconds! And yes, I think we should repost the story with a pic. Just to freak everyone out. Oh, by the way, Hungry Bunny didn't write that one, he beat me to posting it dammit! :x Enjoy some reheated creepypasta. It's still good!

A man went to a hotel and walked up to the front desk to check in. The woman at the desk gave him his key and told him that on the way to his room, there was a door with no number that was locked and no one was allowed in there. Especially no one should look inside the room, under any circumstances. So he followed the instructions of the woman at the front desk, going straight to his room, and going to bed. The next night his curiosity would not leave him alone about the room with no number on the door. He walked down the hall to the door and tried the handle. Sure enough it was locked. He bent down and looked through the wide keyhole. Cold air passed through it, chilling his eye.

What he saw was a hotel bedroom, like his, and in the corner was a woman whose skin was completely white. She was leaning her head against the wall, facing away from the door. He stared in confusion for a while. He almost knocked on the door, out of curiosity, but decided not to. This disinclination saved his life. He crept away from the door and walked back to his room. The next day, he returned to the door and looked through the wide keyhole. This time, all he saw was redness. He couldn't make anything out besides a distinct red color, unmoving. Perhaps the inhabitants of the room knew he was spying the night before, and had blocked the keyhole with something red.

At this point he decided to consult the woman at the front desk for more information. She sighed and said, "Did you look through the keyhole?" The man told her that he had and she said, "Well, I might as well tell you the story. A long time ago, a man murdered his wife in that room, and her ghost haunts it. But these people were not ordinary. They were white all over, except for their eyes, which were red."

The Presence

For as long as I can remember, I have felt a 'presence' about me. It only occurs when I'm home and usually in my bedroom. I suppose because the bedroom is one's domain, where you are most at ease and accessible.

I've never seen anything or had things move, but I do feel it beside me. Always beside me or slightly behind.

Often when the hair stands on the back of my neck, I feel the 'warmth' of the being beside me, enough to make me turn around only to find nothing there. I also have an aversion to looking in to the mirror when the light isn't on. I can't bring myself to do it. The light must be on.

When I was asleep one night, soon after a fire in my bedroom caused by an unattended candle, I was woken by my mother at the door. Only it wasn't her and bu this I mean my head was turned away from the open doorway and I was jolted awake from a deep sleep to feel 'it' and hear someone very close to my ear fiercely whisper "HEY!", only to make me think my mother was at the door. So I looked and I saw nothing. This kind of thing only ever happens when I'm lying on my back. Seem strange?

On another occassion, I was styduing at me desk and I could here mum in the kitchen cooking dinner. We live in a single story house and then vaguely remember drowning out the clatter and clang of the kitchen only to feel a sudden 'presence' at the door again and hear a fierce whisper "HEY!". I looked up expecting to see mum say that dinner was ready but no one was there. Seconds later as I went cold, the hairs on the back of my neck stood up and my mother then yelled out that dinner was ready.

I can't say this all makes me feel safe, it's not like I've felt the presence then something bad or good has happened but it's not on that kind of scale. It's always with me, in that room, watching me but not necessarily protecting me. It happened that on one occassion I felt it so strongly in the corner of my room that I was forced to shout out at it, telling it to leave me alone and that it was scaring me, then it was gone. Since then I've moved to a different bedroom and have not experienced it so far, my sister says nothing like that has ever happened to her since moving in to my room. To this day, I can't really go in there, especially when no one's in there before me.

[QUOTE="Technocactus"]
