"I am currently sitting in front of my computer, scared witless. Any moment now I am going to be killed.

Today a friend of mine told me a story.

His aunt had taken care of him since he was a small boy, and she told him last night about how his parents died. He did a very fair imitation of her (I knew them both pretty well):

"They were doing mission work in some nasty little south american country when a man burst into the mission hospital one night, terrified out of his mind. He told them that his sister had been killed by a Muerto blanco, and that he was certain that it was coming for him next. What is a Muerto blanco? Apparently it was some sort of bogey-man, something like that dumb chupacabra or whatever. They called it the White Death or the White Girl, because it was the soul of someone who hated life so much that they came back in their shrouds to kill those who told of them.

The man had been told about the vengeful spirit by his sister hours before her death. It was a girl with dead, black eyes that wept bile. The thing moved without ever actually moving its legs, and it stalked its victims back to their homes. Now, if you weren't already aware that this thing was following you, once it got back to your house, it would start knocking on your door...

* Once for you skin, which she'll use to patch her own decaying flesh.
* Twice for your muscle, which she'll gnash her teeth on between victims.
* Thrice for your bones, which she'll make knives to pick her teeth and kill her victims.
* Four times for your heart, which she'll wear around her neck.
* Five times for your teeth, which she'll polish and keep in a box.
* Six times for your eyes, which she'll see the faces of your loved ones through.
* Seven times for your soul, which she'll eat whole - you can never pass while you're in her stomach.

She has to repeat this on any mirror or door between you and her.

You can try to outrun her, but she's faster than the fastest man. And if you leave your home while she's knocking on your door, she won't be so courteous when she catches up to you.

Now the man was certain that this thing had killed his sister, that he had tried to tell the police, but they would not listen. Next he had tried to tell his priest, but the priest turned him away when he saw that the thing was following him now - oh, that's right, I forgot about that - it can only get you if you tell someone else about it, or you saw it kill someone else. The man, after finishing his tale, stole a car from the mission, and was never seen again.

Apparently his mother and father had immediately called his aunt about this when it happened. They were found in the morning, skinned and dismembered. Their bodies were covered in tiny, child-like handprints.

His aunt was really drunk the night before, and had told him about that. He told me this story early in the morning today at school, before the cops arrived. His aunt had been murdered that night. I called him later that night, and he told me that he was being chased by someone, and now they were knocking on his door. I told him to stop messing with me.

He held the phone away from his face for a minute, and I could hear slow, deliberate knocking. A moment later, I heard the door rip from its hinges and the dying screams of my friend.

Then a little girl's voice spoke over the line: "WITNESS." I hung up.

Three minutes ago someone started knocking on my door. She has to knock 28 times on my front door, 28 times on the mirror in the hall, and another 28 times on the door to my bedroom. She's doing it slowly... I think she wants to scare me some more, let me know that my death is just moments away. I will not run - I couldn't get to my car in time anyway. She started knocking on my bedroom door a minute ago, she should be done any moment.

Nice knowing you guys, it's been funjklm,.-

A few years ago, a mother and father decided they needed a break, so they wanted to head out for a night on the town. They called their most trusted babysitter. When the babysitter arrived, the two children were already fast asleep in bed. So the babysitter just got to sit around and make sure everything was okay with the children. Later that night, the babysitter got bored and went to watch TV, but she couldn't watch it downstairs because they did not have cable downstairs (the parents didn't want children watching too much garbage). So, she called them and asked them if she could watch cable in the parent's room. Of course, the parents said it was ok, but the babysitter had one final request... she asked if she could cover up the angel statue outside the bedroom window with a blanket or cloth, at the very least close the blinds, because it made her nervous. The phone line was silent for a moment, and the father who was talking to the babysitter at the time said, "Take the children and get out of the house... we will call the police. We do not have an angel statue."

The police found all three of the house occupants dead within three minutes of the call. No angel staue was ever found.

The Jersey Devil, the supposed mythical creature of the New Jersey Pinelands, has haunted New Jersey and the surrounding areas for the past 260 years. This entity has been seen by over 2,000 witnesses over this period. It has terrorized towns and caused factories and schools to close down, yet many people believe that the Jersey Devil is a legend, a mythical beast, that originated from the folklore of the New Jersey Pine Barrens. Others disagree with this point of view. The following text will show there is evidence to support the existence of an animal or supernatural bring known as the Jersey Devil. The evidence consists of the stories of the Jersey Devil's origin, the sightings of it, and finally, the theories on it.

There are many different versions of the birth of the Jersey Devil. One of the most popular legends says a Mrs. Shrouds of Leeds Point, NJ made a wish that if she ever had another child, she want it to be a devil. Her next child was born misshapen and deformed. She sheltered it in the house, so the curious couldn't see him. On stormy night, the child flapped it's arms, which turned into wings, and escaped out the chimney and was never seen by the family again. A Mrs. Bowen of Leeds point said, "The Jersey Devil was born in the Shrouds house at Leeds Point." 1 Another story that also placed the birth at Leeds Point said that a young girl fell in love with a British soldier during the Revolutionary War. The people of Leeds Point cursed her. When she gave birth, she had a devil. Some people believe the birth of the devil was punishment for the mistreatment of a minister by the Leeds folk.

One night, two parents left their two daughters home alone while they went out to dinner. The older one was told that she had to babysit, and when they went up to bed, to lock the doors. An hour later, the girls were watching the news, when the newsman said, "Breaking News! There are reports of a murderer in this county. The murderer is very deadly, and has no legs. He travels around in a wheelchair."

This freaked the girls out, so they turned off the TV and went to bed. But they forgot to lock the doors.

The younger sister asked the older sister if she could sleep on the top bunk tonight, because she was scared. The older daughter said she could.

Two hours later, the parents still had not returned. The younger sister had to go to the bathroom, so she got up and went in. But on the mirror, there was a message that read in blood, "You're lucky I couldn't reach you!" and two legs were hanging by it.

She went back in the bedroom, to find a knife in her sister's chest, and her legs were missing.

In a fire station in California, there is a light bulb that is always on and has never, ever burned out. If you read Numbers 16:41-45 from a King James Bible (other versions don't work) in the same room as this light bulb, the light bulb will dim significantly. If you keep reading until Numbers 16:48, the light bulb goes back to its original brightness.

The trick is, if you hesitate too long while the lights are dim, you start seeing a weird lightshow in front of your eyes, it is most similar to what happens when you rub your eyes for a long time while they are closed.

If you wait for still longer, the lightshow starts forming patterns, like circles and triangles. Still longer, and the lightshow starts to form words. The people that have read these words are reluctant to talk about it, but are often obsessed with the year 2112 and are very interested in what countries are producing biological weapons...

...and confirmation that such a bulb exists >.>

This story freaks me out so much I'm afraid to use the bathroom in my friends house.

I was at my friends house before and her mum was telling me this story.

My friends grandfather died in there bathtub about 20 years ago. When my friend was 3(about 14 years ago) she used to go into the bathroom everynight and lock the door. She would never come out for about 20-30 minutes. Her mum thought nothing of it. But one night when my friend was in the bathroom her mum was walking past the bathroom door and she heard my friend talking. When she came outher mam asked her who she was talking to and my friend said the man in the bathtub.

I dunno if thats made up or what. My friend says she doesn't remember anything from when she was that young but her mom always says she is telling the truth.

[QUOTE="Red-XIII"]

Caressed By a Demon

Ancient Chinese fables tell that dreams are a person's soul wandering in to another space and a nightmare is when a person is haunted by a ghost. When a person sees a bruise or mark on their limb but don't feel any pain, it is probably caused by a ghost's pinch. When a person dies in their sleep, they simply can't come back to real life from a dream...

During the summer of my college junior year, I had a perculiar nightmare. I was awakened in the morning by the feeling of a hand combing through my hair about three or four times. I tried to turn around to avoid it but realised my body was frozen in place. I could neither open my eyes nor speak. I started to gain a little more consciousness in the next few seconds whilst the combing continued and I learned where I was. I was lying on my left side with my left arm under my body and my right hand resting on my right thigh.

I felt the hand was touching my scalp in a left-tilting position which my right hand could not do. I could also feel that it was quite big and warm when it touched my head. I almost felt like it was petting me and the fingers ran through my long hair at the end. The feeling was becoming more vivid and the hand kept combing through my hair. The more it touched me, the more I was sure it didn't belong to me and I knew it couldn't be anone else as I was sleeping alone.

I started to have this feeling a demon was lying on my right side and was caressing my hair. I knew it meant no harm because it wasn't trying to hurt me. Nonetheless, I was scared and I couldn't move and tell it to stop, yet my mind was so clear I could feel every stroke of the fingers. This lasted for about five minutes which felt like an eternity. Finally, I concentrated to open my eyes and at the same time I could move and screamed hysterically and jumped out of bed. I didn't dare to look back, because something in my mind told me it wasn't a pretty sight.

When I think back, I wonder if the demon was attracted to my long and smooth hair. I never kept my hair that long again.

manicfoot

A similar thing happened to me. I was 10 and was asleep, and suddenlly felt like I was being watched.. I woke up suddenly, and there was this greyish figure that looked like an old lady sat on the end of my bed watching me sleep. Obviously, I was terrified and when she saw the look on my face she disappeared so I don't think she meant me any harm.

This also happened to me. I woke up when night and a demon had its finger stuck up my nose. I never picked my nose again.:P

This thread scared the living **** out of me, and then my mum told me to take a shower. Bad part is that our bathroom is chuck full of mirrors. I was shaking, nearly trembeling, in the shower even though the water was hot. I felt like there was some creepy ass thing in back of me or something will just suddenly appear in front of me and rips my guts out. It's just AHHHHH. But the last two hours I have been able to keep myself sane while reading the stories by playing Canon and Caramelldansen over an over again. x3

I hate you all.

This is quite possibly the best thread i've ever read on GS.

I have my own creepy little story, but i'm not sure if i want to post it as i'm totally creeped out right now.:P

Ah, hell, here we go:

It must have been about 8 years ago, which would have made me 9 years old. I've always been one to get scared easily, but this one event has made me so interested in the paranormal, and has made me love the feeling of being pertrified and really scared.

I was really afraid of the dark when i was young, so i used to leave my door wide open, with the lobby light on. I'm pretty sure that's how it was that night, but i'm not 100% sure. Anyway, i was sleeping one night, when suddenly i was awoken. I'm not sure why, but i got up and looked around for a few seconds. I looked at my floor only to see something scurrying across it. It was pure white and looked like a large rat. It was in the middle of my room, and then it turned and started coming towards my bed. I stood up on my bed and leaned against the wall, not looking at the thing on the floor. It came up to my bed until it must have been right next to it, so i couldn't see it. Without looking at it, i took a giant leap from one side of my room over to the other. I landed at the door and left my room, shutting the door behind me.

I never slept in my room for months. We tried to find out what it was the next day, turning my room upside down. We even left mouse traps lying around, hoping to catch whatever it was.

To this day i have no idea what it was, but i've never seen it again.

Still waiting for the creepy.

And since I'd like to contribute, watch this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wdeP_qGXbOs It's 92 of the series, but the person doesn't have all 92. They do have a lot, though. Watch them all.

You stand solemnly in the small dining room of your new house

It's been sixteen years since you've last moved. Of course, you would be reluctant to just pack up your bags and leave, but it couldn't be helped. So you're homesick. Big deal. But something puts you off about this house. Something you only noticed this very moment. It didn't appear discomforting when you were first saw it, but now it does. Oh yes, you don't like this house one bit.

The room is whitewashed; furnished with the fine antiques of your old house. There are two windows in the back right and back left corners, with an odd painting sitting between them. In the middle of this room lay the antique dining table, with seating for four, adorned with tablewear moved over from your last house. An elegant display-- nothing suspicious about it at all. To the left of the table sits a drawer. This drawer is very special to you...it was given to you as a present from your mother the week before she died. Atop that very drawer sits a small bonsai plant, some candles, and a collection of pictures of your mother. In the far right corner of the room is a cheap white radiator and your dog's watering dish. Odd then, that you wouldn't find your dog anywhere in this room...

...he stands behind you, quivering in fear.

He directs his gaze at the windows, then at the radiator, and then at the dresser, and finally at the table. He turns to run, but can't. He is too fiercely enthralled by the horror of this room. He then directs his attention to the painting between the windows. It is a simple painting of a long, winding street smack in the middle of an old, snowy town. But there's something wrong here. Just on the right-hand side of the road sits an odd reflection of light...

You hold your dog for a minute and follow his gaze about the room. Can you find what's wrong with this picture?Red-XIII

OMG Red you were right! You've created a monster! I thought this was dead, hadn't seen it for over a month, and all of a sudden it appears before me once more, with 100+ new posts to boot!

I don't know if I should be this happy that this thread came back to life, ever since I read those mirror stories things haven't been quite the same, this may not be very creepy, but believe me, I'm really worried right now.

Ever since I read the mirror stories about a month ago I've been totally freaked out, the first night I found this thread I stayed up all night reading just so I didn't have to walk past my mirror while it was still dark outside, and I've been avoiding (sometimes literally running away from) mirrors all this time. Normally I really like ghost stories and creepy stuff and don't get scared easily, I loved many of the stories in here and read through all the info on the dionea house and the dibbuk box, but there was something about knowing mirrors might actually have some evil to them that deeply unsettled me, it's like I accidentally found something that awoke my deepest, dormant fears.

At first I willed myself to just stare at the mirror, I said to myself "well this can't go on any longer, it's just not rational, you're not a kid anymore, just look in the mirror, really stare at it, and when nothing happens you'll realize there's nothing to be afraid of and things will go back to normal". But when I stared, after a while my face started to blur, just my face, I could still see the rest of my body and my surroundings in my peripheral vision, it became steadily darker until all that was left was the silouette of my head, completely black inside, darkness was literally staring at me. I did it twice with the same results, so instead of vanishing my fear of mirrors increased, and I continued to avoid them.

I did so until a week ago tomorrow (last sunday) when I accidentally stared into a mirror in a completely dark room, and saw my faceless self stare back at me, it didn't blur this time, it was like that from the beginning, it scared me, but I was really tired that day because I was nearing 24 hours without sleep so I didn't pay it, or what happened next, as much attention as I would have (now that I think of it, it's a good thing I was so tired because otherwise I'd have been scared witless by this events), so I just went upstairs to go to bed. I have to pass a room on the second landing on the way to my bedroom, and I never turn any lights on to go through this room at night since I know the way by heart, but as I stared into the room from the staircase there was something off about it, the darkness inside was so dense you could almost touch it, I couldn't see a thing inside, and I got an ominous feeling, but again I was too tired to worry about it so I just went through to my room and went to bed, and as I was falling asleep everything started shaking violently, but since I wasn't thinking right I just thought it would be an earthquake and in a few seconds it would pass (this is NOT an earthquake prone area, quakes are never felt here, again, I was tired), it was really strong and seemed to last more than a minute, after which I fell asleep.

The next morning I asked my mother if she felt a quake that night, and she told me she didn't feel a thing, but phoned my dad (who lives in the neighboring state) to check that eveyone was alright just in case, my dad said there was nothing unusual that night (if there had been an earthquake he would have felt it, even the slightest tremors are felt in that area). That's when I realized there hadn't been an earthquake last night, it was my bed that had shaken violently for over a minute.

And it doesn't end there, this wednesday I went to school as always and I went to hang out at my cousins house after school, and when I arrived at my cousins' they told me my dad was looking for me and he said I needed to call him, so I did and when he picked up the phone he sounded worried, he told me his wife, who knows a lot about the paranormal (she knew exactly what it was that startled the dogs at my aunt's that other time, and when it started to follow me she got rid of it) saw me in their house that afternoon, she said I was in the guest room, hiding, and I scared the **** out of her. This deeply unsettles me, since I had been at school all day and went to my cousins' immediately afterwards, I haven't been to my dad's house in over a month.

So this is what's been happening to me lately, and still I keep on reading, trying not to blow it out of proportion (like it wasn't already), trying to move on with my life as normally as possible, there's really little more I can do about it, if nothing happens again I'll have to get over it sooner or later, and if it does, well hopefully I'll still be around to tell you guys about it...

Wow that sounds pretty spooky alright. Have you ever though about using photography to see if you can catch anything on film? I've always wanted to try that, but I've never had anything paranormal happen to me.

Hmmm did you watch the Japanese Ghost Video, which was linked earlier in this thread? #92, where the little girl is brushing her hair in the mirror.

"Yesterday, a friend of mine called me. It was a John, an old buddy from high school. I hadn't spoken with him for years, and we started to reminisce about all the crap we pulled in high school. A few days later I decided to call him back, and see if we could get together, maybe go fishing or something.

We talked on the phone for a while, and I said to him "Hey, maybe we should get together sometime." He first said that that was a bad idea, but then he agreed. I asked him for address, copied it down, and told him I'd see him in the morning.

The next morning I arrived at the place he said he lived at. There was nothing but rubble there. It looked like there had been a fire there years ago, but nothing got cleaned up, and the plants never regrew. In the middle of the rubble, I found a old rotary ****telephone on the floor, not connected to anything. Hurridly, I pulled out my cellphone and called his number.

The telephone on the floor rang.

Once.

Twice.

A third time.

I dropped my cellphone in shock, and knelt to grab the rotary telephone. A voice, drenched in distortion and hiss, said:

"I told you this was a bad idea."

I'm going to have to make a return to this thread. And I got a monster brewing, one i'm sure no one's heard before. I'll post it soon, it needs a bit of editing as it's taken from a script format, and needs to be presented as a story.

Red-XIII

No I have never done anything like that. Before all this happened I would have thought this was a great idea, but right now I honestly don't feel like it, even if I catch something on tape, I don't really want to "play around" with this, and I certainly don't want to see it, whatever it is, it's bad enough as it is.

And I did see it, it wasn't all that scary, standard the ring/the grudge fare, but it certainly didn't help my situation in the slightest...

LOL, no :( I've moved 4 times in the last 16 years

So this is what's been happening to me lately, and still I keep on reading, trying not to blow it out of proportion (like it wasn't already), trying to move on with my life as normally as possible, there's really little more I can do about it, if nothing happens again I'll have to get over it sooner or later, and if it does, well hopefully I'll still be around to tell you guys about it...

black_cat19

I'm sorry to bump this thread, but that bed shaking thing has been something that i've been experiencing since i was a kid.

I remember the first time it happened. I was staying at my mums (now ex) boyfriends house. I must have been about 12. I remember waking up one night to the bed shaking violently. I ran through to their bedroom and slept with them for the night. Ever since then it seems to happen randomly. It's very unpleasent, but i've gotten used to it. Nothing else happens, just the bed shaking. It normally doesn't last long once i've awoken.

It got a lot worse on the last one, which was just a few weeks ago.

I'd slept in til about 2 AM, and i woke up to feel the shaking. I rose up out of bed, but the shaking would not stop. Being half-asleep, i put my head down and it still did not stop. I rose up again, and it was still shaking. Oddly enough, i can't remember what happened after that.

I decided to research it on the internet, and i found i'm not the only one to experience this. There doesn't appear to be a definite answer, but it's believed to bee a case of your mind and body not quite being in sync, and seems to happen just as you are waking up, which is the case with all mine.

It's definitely creepy, but if yours is the same as mine then it might just be that.

I'm afraid i can't explain the other cases, but fear can do pretty nasty things to your mind. I hope you are well.

EDIT: Lol! Guess i didn't bump the thread. Someone got in there before me.

And I am always with you.
I was there from the time you were born. I stood in the delivery room, staring down at you before you could even open your eyes to see me. Your parents, relatives and doctors couldn't see me there, in the corner, watching you with cloudy eyes, but I was there from the time you were born.
And I followed you home.
I was with you always, your constant companion. You played with your toys alone while I stared from all angles in nearby mirrors; my matted, clotted hair with oily sweat that hung off my dented forehead like glue. I was always your constant companion, drifting behind your mother's car on your ride to preschool. You alone in the bathroom, but I was on the other side of the door, wind whistling through the bruised hole in my throat. My arms twisted and hanging in their sockets as I stood hunched on the other side of the shower curtain. I wait and follow you. I follow and drift behind you.
I'm not seen. I'm almost not-there in light. You never saw me that morning as I sat across from you at the breakfast table, a shiny red clot hanging from an empty tooth socket as I gaped grotesquely at you. I wonder sometimes if you know I'm there. I think you are aware, but you'll never understand just how close I am

I spend hours of your day doing nothing more than breathing in your ear.
Breathing - gagging, really.
I crave to be close to you, to always wrap my crippled arms around your neck. I lie near you every single night, cloudy eyes staring at your ceiling, underneath your bed, at your sleeping face in the dark.
Yes. You caught me staring occasionally. Your parents came running down to your room one night when you screamed. You were just beginning to talk, so you were only able to cry out "Man! Man in my room!" You thought you'd never forget the sight of me, with my collapsed jaw hanging to my chest, swinging back and forth. I sank back into your closet and your mother was unable to see me though you pointed and pointed and pointed. You thought you'd never forget when they left that same night. You saw the closet door crack so softly and me crawling across the floor to your bed on all fours, shambling in jerking movements as I pushed myself under your bed on disjointed limbs.
You learned a new word for me: boogeyman. Not quite the monster you thought I was. I'm just waiting and following you always, touching your face with my knotted fingers as you sleep.

You'll see me again soon. Any day now, I'm coming, blunt and brutal. One day you'll walk across the road and - I believe I'll plow into you with loud roar and a screech.
You rolling on the pavement, rolling under wheels, bluntforce metal fenders and my fingers touching your face again and again.
As you stare up from the cold pavement with cloudy eyes; your matted, clotted hair hanging in your face and your jaw unhinged and swinging to your chest.
You'll see me approaching.
No one else will see me. You will stare past them into my eyes and I'll leer down at you. For the first time in our life, something like a smile will come over my face. You'll swear you're looking into a mirror as clotted red bubbles from our mouths.
I'll lean down, past the doctors and the oogling people and pick you up in my crooked arms.
Our faces will touch. My wings will unfurl. And then you'll have to follow me.
And I am always with you.
I am your guardian angel.

That one was freaky as hell, although I was kind of dissapointed by the picture, I thought it would be something much scarier.

I was rather hesitant to scroll down and see the picture, I thought, in combination with the story, I might not be able to sleep for a week, it'll only be a couple days now:P

Well,I really only remember one distinct paranormal experience.Back in the early 2000's I was at my old stepmom's sitting on the couch watching tv.I was about 11 or 12 at the time.I knew the house was haunted by a lady in a white dress but I had never seen her before. Now,when you are sitting on the couch watching tv there is a set of doors with glass windows so that you could see through to the stairs.I was watching tv and my dad was in the shower,my stepmom was at work.I don`t remember why but I looked away from the tv for a moment and looked through the glass in the doors and saw someone in a white dress who was transparent walking down the stairs. It got to the persons waste but then it disappeared like a bubble popping.I was less freaked than I thought I would be,I was actually surprisingly calm. When I told my dad he asked why I didn`t just run upstairs to get him but I didn`t think that was a great idea since I had just seen a ghost on those very stairs.
